Grammarly $75USD Annual Plan - 46% off

170

This is an offer for non-paying users of Grammarly. The deal applies to the initial subscription period, after which your account renews at $139.95USD. Can cancel the subscription right away so that it does not renew. The deal is offering 46% off making the pro subscription 6.25USD a month.

If you cancel the subscription, the current pro-subscription will still operate until the end of the subscription date, and then switch over to the free account.

I have used the pro-version for a few years and have always purchased it when it is around 50% off. When my latest subscription ended I didn't renew my subscription and have noticed the difference between the pro and the free versions. Now it is on sale, I repurchased as I have missed the pro version.

Tax time is also coming up, depending on your work Grammarly is a deductible.

Grammarly ended up costing me $122.38 AUD with an ANZ card, that might vary slightly depending on your bank.

Fantastic program, I love it - helps me out a lot with my extra studying I'm doing as well, well worth the money.

  • Thanks OP. But I'm seeing $139.95 when I follow the link (not sure if it's USD or AUD).. [Edit] I saw the date. Start tomorrow. I will try again then.

    • OP, I've just received 50% off email (after clicking up right up to pay, and leaving it). So it was US$69.98 for me. May be you can update your post. Thanks heaps for the post!!

I am thinking of getting this deal but does anyone know how its compared to pro writing aid? I am at uni, don't know which is good

Please read the horrible reviews before buying.

  • Is it a lot better than Word spell checker?
    Are there free alternatives?

      "had"

"Grammarly has fixed a security bug"

"Grammarly had fixed the issue and released an update to the Chrome Web Store within a few hours, a really impressive response time. … I've verified that Mozilla now also has the update."

Did you even read the site you linked? It had a flaw, once, in ~Feb 2018 - and it was fixed really quickly, impressing security journos.

    • Grammarly's Privacy Policy makes for a scary read. They collect and store:

      • all text, documents, or other content or information uploaded, entered, or otherwise transmitted by you in connection with your use of the Services and/or Software
      • Names of user contacts (if using Grammarly Keyboard)
      • Location information
      • Log data
      • Usage information

If you're a Microsoft 365 subscriber, don't forget that Microsoft Editor is a thing in Chrome/Edge now - https://support.office.com/en-us/article/check-grammar-and-s… not yet up to par with Grammarly, but if you (or your work) is already paying for 365, worth keeping an eye on it and giving a shot.

I used the free web version for work for a few months. Found it annoying that it kept wanting to use American spelling.

    • +1

You can change that pretty easily in the settings.

  • This has been the price for a very long time now.
If you look back (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/394180) it used to be actually cheap, but this is a rather average deal

    • yeah two years ago

      • +1

and in the past two years, Google and Microsoft caught up quite well with grammar and spell checking, making this deal even less of a deal.

        • I tend to disagree. I find Grammarly to be miles ahead. For example, I will write in word without Grammarly on, and at the end when I turn it on, Grammarly will pick up on 100s of errors depending on the pages of the document. Word has missed these checks. It finds so much more and for the work I do (academic researcher) I need the extra checks.

          • @harrybard: Have you tried other grammar checkers or only Grammarly?

I agree, Grammarly does find a lot of issues, but what I also noticed (when I had the subscription) that not fixing the yellow ones was okay too. The red ones are usually actual problems, the yellow ones were meh. "Don't use passive voice" - sure :D

  • Not worth the money. There are false alarms all the time, while its spelling checker misses quite a few, well, typos.

… the price seems expensive … but … what price for "knowledge"??

    • +1

Has to be scam :( They are often re-selling one subscription to multiple users until it gets blocked.

  • Just saw this now. I'm getting the full price. Maybe expired? :-(
