BES875 is the newer and upgraded version of the BES870

The BES870 was popular at
$579 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/532589
$579 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/532093

    Based on a quick google:

The difference between the old BES870 and new BES875 model is the temperature control jug, which has an integrated thermometer indicator strip.

Coffee Machine appears to be the same.

The actual machine in this box is BES870, they've just added a different milk jug in the box and wrote BES875 on it.

Pretty sure this variant is only sold by Costco in Australia.

EDIT: Someone already beat me to it.

  • +1

I think the '5' is only for that new milk jar is there anything new to the machine? And also you can't redeem the gift pack using Costco receipt

    • I bought this machine 2 weeks ago and submitted the receipt to Breville. Got an email a few days later saying that the claim had been validated and I'd get the gift pack in a few weeks.

Added bonus, went to Costco 15 days after purchase and got $100 back no questions asked as they'd dropped the price.

      • Oh really! I bought it from Costco a week ago. Which retailer did you choose when redeeming?

        • I just chose Other and put in Costco. Selected the closest model number for the machine as the 875 isn't listed.

          • @WhingingPom: Thanks! I will have a try.

            • @Imposter: Hi Terry, did your claim get approve? I got mine from Costco last week and submitted my claim to Breville, but they refused my claim due to Costco is not their participating retailers/suppliers

              • @JL89: Same to me, they refused my claim.

          • @WhingingPom: Hey, what part is the receipt number on the costco receipt? Is it the bunch of numbers next to the date and time of purchase at the bottom?

    • Redemption pack arrived today. Only wanted it for the knock box. Not sure what the coffee is like but will sell the jug on Marketplace.

  • Looks like the only difference between 870 and 875 is a new jug. A solid machine, anyway.

  • I thought we were comparing 875 and 880 🤣

    • They're comparing the BES870 to the updated BES875. The only difference between those is the milk jug.

  • +1

For the 880 price would really recommend the BES920 which can be had for 900 atm but gets to 600-700 on decent specials every now and again.

    • What’s the difference between the machines aside from the price?

      • +2

I probably worded that wrong because the 880 would be more beneficial to some people.
The big difference is the 920 is a duel boiler machine, which means you can brew and steam at the same time, the 880 is a single boiler which means that the boiler must get back up to temp after brewing to steam the milk, even once the 880 is up to temp it's still slower to steam. The other big difference is the 880 includes and inbuilt coffee grinder, the 920 doesn't so you need to purchase this separate.
But the 920 has more customization, you can alter the temp and the infusion time, can set an auto on timer, in the right hands the 920 will make a better coffee.

        • The Dual Boiler also has a 58mm portafilter which apparently is an industry standard. the Barista series is 54mm. I read that you can pull a better shot from a larger portafilter, but it also requires higher and more consistent pressure over a larger area, that's why domestic machines typical use 53/54mm portafilters.

    And the Costco unlimited warrenty

    • Is it still there?
      I've heard they canned it…

  • I see the Express is frequently going on sale - why is there no sales on the Pro anymore?

  • Damn bought the 875 on the weekend for $649 as it was cheaper than others at $699 and didn't think anyone would be discounting coffee makers at the moment! Makes pretty decent coffee but I've been using the double walled filters as haven't mastered the other ones yet. Costco doesn't do any credit for price drops do they?

    • You could try returning your machine for $649 and then buy it again at $549

If u got it from Costco in the first place
U can get a refund of the difference
It’s been that way for years

      • +2

Yeah they have the 30days price guarantee policy. Just rock up at the service desk and ask for the difference to be refunded. I done this few times

  • Can't decide between the BES870/Barista Express or the BES500/Bambino Plus with the Smart Grinder Pro. Both options are ~$500 on TGG Commercial. The Barista Express comes with the $118 redemption offer from Breville but I am hesitant about having an in-build grinder in case of part failure. Also noted that the Express only has a 1-year warranty compared to 2 years on the bambino.

    • +1

Unfortunately you don't get the redemption from Costco.

      • Good catch I didn't consider that, thanks for the heads up! I believe the $499 red barista express from TGGC (Or just TGG if you haggle the salesperson apparently) does qualify for the Breville redemption.

        • Also keep in mind that you're not getting $118 from Breville. You're getting another (yet cool) jug, a knock box and some coffee. Not sure if you'd pay $118 for that set.

  • this seems like to be a good price for the Touch… Was going to buy Barista Pro for $899 but at this price I may grab the Barista Touch.

  • +3

But this wont be eligible for the promo

  • Just been into Harvey’s they will price beat these prices but only from tomorrow

    • Which Harvey's was willing to beat? I've tried calling two (Brisbane northside) and best they will do on the Barista Touch is $1099.

  • +1

Hn shepparton but won’t beat the price till tomorrow when sale starts
    I got quoted $899
And by getting at hn u get the redemptions too

    • How do you price match with HN? I tried contacting via chat and got a reply that they don't price match Costco.

      • You will have better luck going in their store who has them in stock. HN online price matching is very difficult.

    • +4

Can you please post your receiot once you purchase for $899 please

    • +1

Yes, please share your receipt. Thanks

  • Do yourself a favor and just buy in store, go and pickup . I bought online from Myer and for past 5 days, Aussie post tracking shows that they haven’t even picked it up from Myer.
No more online deliveries for me from this point forward until things will be back to normal. Deliveries are taking forever and bloody Aussie post is just sitting on their arse looking for innovative excuses.

  • +1

Has anyone had any luck with a price match at another store (JB, HN, Goodguys, DJs)? I note above said a HN store would be matching but online have said no, so it'd be good to have a better idea of what to expect / what store to head to. Thanks!

    • I've had luck getting a price match on the touch from JB. Though they asked for me to show a Costco membership card (which I didn't have) otherwise they would match price plus $60 which was fine for me considering buying for JB is eligible for the breville promotion.

      • I can get at jb or hn the touch as my stores price beat Costco and no $60 addedon

    • My local Costco (Lidcombe NSW) was out of stock of the BES875, I tried price matching at the good guys in Auburn NSW, no luck unfortunately, he said he could maybe do $620 on the BES870. Im just waiting, hopefully Costco will get more stock soon

  • Question regarding TGCC, does anyone know if there is a cost with signing up and then closing your Sun Super account? Its hard to tell from their site! TY

  • Noticed the above link to the offer is no longer valid. Barista Touch is showing up $1099 on Costco's website. Price error may be?

I tried checking with a couple of HN's but they refused to match $949.99 and the best price I was offered was $1150 so I've grabbed one. Also eligible for the Bonus gift pack.

$949.99 seemed too good to be true… this is the price point for Barista Pro

    • +1

The price of $949.99 is only in store, not online. It says this in the fine print on the Warehouse Savings page. To find this, go to the Costco website then click on 'Warehouse Savings' at the top of the page, then click on the '24th Apr – 10th May 2020' Warehouse Savings PDF.

      • Thanks for this… I'll get free coffee and knock box then :D

        • +2

Only if u get from hn or tgg or jb

I just got the black truffle today at hn pricematched Costco as I had the price tag on my phone
Receipt posted below was $1499 I paid $949

      • Thanks Dex38313… I claimed the price difference through my 28Degrees credit card :)

  • +1

I just picked one of these up from Costco. It's an awesome machine and much better than I thought it would be, well worth the $550!

  • Local HN can possibly do $1200, they would not go near $950.

    • +1

Was just in hn taylors lakes $950 no stock but can order in
I showed Costco price said no worries but have to order

      • Called a few NSW stores, seems like they are not as flexible as Victoria ones.

Basically they are saying that $950 is too far from $1,300 which is already reduced from $1,500, and also Costco being members only they don't match.

I'm actually having second thoughts…$850 to get the Dual Boiler, then wait for a deal on the grinder. Or just get the Touch from Costco. Either way does not qualify for the gift pack. Then again, I just want the knock box, don't need an extra milk jug and coffee (though free beans are nice but not a deal breaker).

        Decisions, decisions…

I just got the black truffle was $1499 I paid $949

    • Do you have a photo of the BES875 price ticket?

    • That receipt upload sucks, where is the date time and HN logo?

      • It worked for everyone else that tried but mo good now as sale is over it’s back
Up in price now at Costco

  • Does anyone else's milk jug thermometer not work (the thermometer part doesn't change colour or anything)? Not sure if I'm just doing it wrong…

    • +1

Are you heating the milk long enough? Seems to take a while then move quite quickly. I've started ignoring the thermometer and check milk temperature by feel - when the jug's too hot to touch, the milk's warm enough.

      • Nah haven't seen mine change at all, doing the same thing by feel, but I might get a proper thermometer anyway!

  • Looks like they removed the Barista Express from TGCC, damn it.

  • Annoyed I just found this and sale ended 3.5 hours ago
