  • So weird they don't have it on their actual store website.

    • Yeh I thought that, no option to click and collect so it might be left over stock from their warehouse? Either way very odd!

    • -1

It is an older model that was superseded a while back so probably just leftovers.

      • What's the newer model?

        • Probably just the colour. Only red is on sale. The rest are still normal price.

  • +3

Not checked the T&C but you might be able to get the smaller bonus gift pack with this too:

    https://promotions.breville.com.au/2020-bonus-giftpack

    • Yes, correct - BES870CRN eligible for $118 Gift Pack

4 bags of 250g Pablo & Rusty’s fresh coffee beans
1 Breville Milk Jug Max in Black Truffle
1 Breville Mini Knock Box in Black Truffle

i submitted a really old receipt last tme and they gave it to me anyway lol

      • Did they know it was old?

        • +1

i didnt ask any questions, I just got lots of coffee for free. I just uploaded my genuine receipt and didn't say anything

          • @Scantu: How old are we talking here? i got one in Nov 2018 :P

            • @WillisAU: It was about 6 -8 months off the promotion date, they clearly didn't check it. I'd go for it what have you got to loose!

  • +13

Also, If anyone has access to Good Guys Commercial Website, this Machine is $499.00 :)

    • Can you claim the redemption if you buy it from TGGC store?

      • +2

Yup, my claim was approved the next day

        • Thanks for confirming!

        • How were you able to redeem? They didn’t approve mine because the product was purchased under a Commercial/Business name. I ordered through The Good Guys commercial site as well.

          • @imnorobot: I have no idea then, I just filled out the form and got approved without any follow up correspondence

    • +2

Would love to know how I can get access to TGG Commercial - I looked through the list of unions and other TGG affiliated businesses that a kind soul posted on here a few months ago, but to no avail. Any ideas?

      • +3

Sign up to Sunsuper and provide just the basic details without TFN :)

        • Thanks will give that a shot (pun intended). Is the Breville dual boiler machine discounted on TGG Commercial? It's 899 retail:

          https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/breville-the-dual-boiler-espr…

        • How do you login into corp good guys after signing up to sunsuper

        • What do you do about the fees on the account, or are there none if you have a zero balance? From my quick read of the PDS there is a $1.50/week admin fee, all other fees are investment related.

          • +2

@bym: Interesting question, the PDS has the following : ‘ Ifyouraccountbalanceforaproductofferedislessthan$6,000attheendofthefinancialyear,thetotalcombinedamountof administration fees, investment fees and indirect costs charged to you is capped at 3% of the account balance. Any amount chargedinexcessofthatcapmustberefunded.’ - i always assumed that if you don’t put any money in then 3% of $0 would be $0 as its less than $6,000. Let me know if that is how you interpret it?

            • @kk93: Your maths is correct :) Guess I'll sign up now knowing that.

            • @kk93: Thanks so much for that hot tip. Any chance you could let me know how much the Nespresso Creatista Plus is on the TGG commercial website while I wait for it all to get set up? It’s the stainless steel one which is $599 at the moment on the usual TGG site. Many thanks in advance!

              • +1

@ccrap: Hi mate - looks like it is $571 :)

    • Is this machine the dual boiler model? If yes, I might get one from TGG Commercial

EDIT: it's the BES920, not this one.

    • +1

Any chance you can check the BES878 through TGG Commerical? Been eyeing that model for a while now!

      • +1

        Not available on TGGC

        • Damn, it's disappeared from the normal TGG website too… It was there yesterday, I wonder what happened! Thanks for checking anyway

    • +2

      Thanks davohatcher, saved me 70$.
OP worth adding it this in the title (obviously for those who have access to the GGC)

    • Thanks, is it just the red colour for $499?

    • Wow thanks! Hopefully will be $475 with Youi 5% gift cards!!! Bargain

    • That's insane.

I thought I was on a winner getting this for $533 2 months ago.

  • -3

red colour was ok back in 2000 but not now. As if they charge 100 more for silver or black

    • -2

Thank you very much for your opinion.

    • Red goes faster.

  • I have the red dual boiler/grinder combo as it was all there was at the seconds store at the time, and I don't hate it as much as I thought I would.

  • Any suggestions for a fully automatic coffee machine?

    • Be careful, the market in Aus is not as big as in other countries. Semi-automatic machines (like the one in this deal) are way more popular, so fully automatic machines are more expensive, there's less choice and there might be more bullshit.

  • If money isn't the factor and the options are Barista Pro & Barista Touch… which one is recommended for home usage with no prior coffee making experience ?

    • +2

I'm personally going for the Barista Pro. I like the idea of texturing milk myself (I can be a wannabe barista!) which seems to be one of the main sells of the Touch, and the Pro also has programmable shot volumes. Easy choice for me.

  • Is this worth upgrading from Sunbeam EM7000?

    • +1

what is wrong with your EM7000?

ie what is your "upgrade" trying to resolve

      • Mine is playing up like water spilling out from the basket and the hot water part turning itself on.

Just did some googling and noticed EM7000 still on sale, wow, it's been like 6 years since I've had it, looks like it is still going strong!

        • +1

Dont think this would be considered an upgrade
at best a side shuffle at worst a downgrade

The Em7000 (i believe) is dual boiler while BES870 is only a single
          58mm vs 54mm portafitler
          **sorry 54mm not 53mm

          3l vs 2l water capacity

    • +2

      EM7000 is a solid machine

  • +1

I bought this machine a month ago, red version, for $100 more than this price, and I still think its worth it. I'm loving my machine. And seriously the red looks really slick, really happy with my purchase.

My mate has the silver version and wishes he had the red one after I sent him a pic!

  • +2

Just ordered one in red $499

    • +2

Just got black for $399 at breville factory seconds, damaged box. Man that was lucky!

      • At the Fitzroy outlet or online?

EDIT: ah don't worry just saw you're in Brisbane.

  • +1

Where did you get it from for $499?

    • +1

The good guys asked for better price

      • What was the price they asked for?

        • +1

I asked for $450 but got told $499 the best price

          • +1

@Dex38313: I thought they'll only do it if you can provide evidence from another retailer for price match? Do you also get bonus store credit offered on their website?

            • +2

@Melmelx: It wasn’t a price match it was a price I asked for I never pay retail or offer price I ask for a price I want to pay
Also comes with 8 piece gift set as well via redemption

      • curious if this was over the phone or in store? if over the phone, do you know if you can use GC?

        • +1

In store u can I rang and asked for better price
          Then went in and paid

  • TGG only makes the red on sale or people like me who just bought the silver one could claim the price difference.

  • +1

Can you post the receipt if you can. I just called my local TGG and they are happy to match $499 but wanted to know which TGG you bought from

  • Any idea how long it will take to get delivered to Melbourne metro area?

I bought it 3 days ago but on Australia post tracking, there is no change.

    • +1

There's like 3-5 day delay on aus post for me on most things, that is before it's even picked up.

    • Everything is delayed at the moment due to the sheer amount of online shopping everyone is doing. Looking at about a week delay

  • I've bought two Breville's, similar model and they've broke down within 3 years each. Warranty helped.. but would be wary.

    • These are not commercial products, and are relatively cheap, they deal with heat and pressure on a regular basis. Safe to assume 3 years is doing really well.

  • Thank you Dex38313

  • I read $57.90 for some weird reason and almost ordered.

  • +2

Was just about to buy through GGC, then remembered a breville factory seconds place near me, called and they had a black one for $399, damaged box.

    • Which one/was there any more? Thanks

      • +1

No more in Brissie, I got the last one.

    • Almost makes you want to go in store and damage some boxes then wait for them to show at the Fac 2nds store.

      • +1

Hahaha. This goes for anything, not just coffee machines!

  • How many single shot coffee cups you generally make out of 1 kg roasted beans?
I’m tossing between buying 250 grams bag or 1 kg bag. We are anticipating making 4 cups a day max.

    • how big is your dose?

how fast does it take you to dial in an espresso

      just get the 1kg
sounds like you would chew thru it

    • our house does around 4 cups a day (always at least 2, and most days we do 4) and 250g lasts about a week and a bit. I get 1kg bags to last me just over a month. Make sure its fresh ;)

    • +1

A single shot is about 11 g, double shot 17 g depending on the basket. So say 50 to 90 cups per kilo.

  • I have this exact machine and love it.

    • Why do you love it (out of curiosity)?

      • It makes great coffee with the blend I use and it looks great in my kitchen.

  • Looks like something from the 50s during the nuclear arms race.

  • +1

I just purchased this machine as my first real coffee machine (in black - love the colour). It's highly reviewed and makes a great cup. Not too difficult to use and nothing beats freshly ground bean coffee for me.

Make sure you get the knock box in the redemption offer as you'll need it and they are reasonably expensive otherwise ($50ish)

  • I used this deal at Harvey Norman to knock the black model down to $650.00, I just told them i was interested in the black but GG has the red for $599, I told them for $1oo I would walk to GG next door and get the red, they gave me the black for $650 and it qualifies for the redemption pack $118 (I have claimed this). Set up the unit last night with some fresh beans and have to say I am impressed with the quality.(They did mention the red is a discontinued model that is why it is on clearance)

Commercial grade group handle and head, and decent steam wand to texture milk. The grinder and auto dosing has suprised me the most. Great unit for the price, and happy mothers day wife :)

I bought this through TGG Commercial but Breville rejected my claim for the Gift Pack saying it was because the bill was addressed to my Union and the sale was commercial. (note the delivery was to my home address) Really angry now, as the use of the machine will have nothing commercial! Anybody had a similar issue with Breville promo team?
