      From what I understand…

      https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/certa-smart-battery-charger/ - $50

      Performance
      Charging Current 1.0A

Thats a very basic trickle charger that might take a fair while to fully charge, if at all. Good for maintaining a healthy battery though at high charge.

      https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/certa-9-smart-battery-charger/ - $70

      4 Charging current modes: auto, 2A, 4A and 6.5A

This is for charging a battery much faster from low to full especially at 6.5A mode, although 4A is plenty too.

If choosing between those 2, I would def spend the extra $20 personally.

No idea on quality or reputation of Certa brand. Google?

      • Cheers

    • Unless you plan to leave the car overnight with the 1A charger, buy the one that can pump out 6.5A.

Right time, just check the car this morning after 2 weeks not driving. The battery flat :(

  • Why does this keep getting posted for the same seller?

I posted this deal yesterday and it got deleted because the coupon code wasn't active yet. Not sure why you can't do that and give people warning of an upcoming bargain, but anyway.

I bought one today, it's not the cheapest, but it's close to the cheapest and I need one now anyway due to not driving enough, I want to keep my battery healthy so it lasts.

Turning the car on to run for 10 minutes in the garage won't charge it properly either.

Also good to keep other things like motorbike batteries charged.

I know there are other cheaper brands of chargers, but C-Tek is a very good name, I'd rather not risk it with cheaper ones.

Ive had that argmument with mods a few times and they dont seem to ever have a good reason why. "Just because" the coupon/cashback isnt active yet. Although plenty of deals get posted in advance and are clearly exceptions. I gave up arguing because they didnt understand the point of advanced warning, especially on flash cashback sales of 1 or 2 hours only etc where advanced warning is kinda important.

        • totally agree with everything you said.

            @placard: Mods don’t though ;)

          • @placard: +1 here. They permit general cashback deals (Dealbot etc) but remove any reference to cashback timeframes and % discount from specific item deal titles. No logic in their actions at all. Not having timeframes and ACTUAL discount prices in the titles is misleading to people browsing deals.

    • SCA not bad if you need 6v and won’t need it often or use the test functions. I have the CTEK and have used the battery and alternator test functions and am happy to leave it running trickle/reconditioning without fear it will burn the garage and house down. Very good product.

just to be clear - the one in this deal doesn't have test functionality.

  • i have one and used it quite a few times on the old man's car battery, old battery (3+ years) and just do short trips with lots of start/stop.
Work quite well and usually put the battery back into action for a 6+ months.

easy to use, can start the car when it is charged to stage 4, with recondition function (stage 7).

Worth it if there are multiple cars in the household, or to be shared with multiple household.
