    Thank you daddy.

FYP Peter of Herman's Hermits loves ebay!

  • +4

Want to be optimistic that prices don't get jacked then its an okay deal.

    • +7

Probably have more chance of winning the lotto, twice.

      • +5

Futu_online… GUARANTEED price jacking. Along with many others.

    • +6

      Sad stuff.
I have heaps of gear I got from them when their sales were good

      • +1

They were once decent. Until eBay lost its way.

        • +4

Its ebays fault they all price jack. Discounts use to be 100% provided by ebay. Now ebay only gives like 5% of the discount and the rest is by the seller. Hence the price jacking. So effectively in most cases buyers only get a true discount of say 5-7%

    • +13

Ebay delete a lot of their negative feedback to maintain their seller rating, so they wont care about their price jacking.

      • +13

I feel like OzBargain community needs to start a revolt against this. Outside of OzBargain, many people aren’t aware of these rip off tactics, sadly.

        • +2

Stopped buying from eBay a long time ago. Whether or not one consumer makes a difference, time will tell.
Luckily, Amazon came at the right time to save consumers from the monopoly of eBay.

      • -1

If the feedback is related to price jacking during a sale I guess it's fair to delete that since it's not the sellers fault that eBay want to run these stupid promotions they can't afford and pass the cost off onto the sellers.

        • +5

They have the option to participate or not. If they cannot afford to take the hit for these promotions, then they should not be throwing their store in the list.

          • @Munki: Isn't there something in the ACCC about jacking up prices and then running a discount promo?

            • +1

@mattkirkey: Has the ACCC done anything? It continues to happen.

              • @Munki: Have you ever demonstrated it happening to them?

I don't think it's particularly shocking that they aren't monitoring random Ozbargain threads with random people making unsubstantiated claims.

(Note that I didn't say the claims are false)

      Price-jacking deceptive POS @Sony

      Refurbed 85" X85G TV was a straight $3399

Yesterday, 15% code was made public & price jacked to $3599 & claiming 20% off previous price of $4495 (for a refurbed TV?!!)

Idiots still have item description showing pre-jacked price.

And eBay support it, by omitting prices from revisions page.

    • +2

      yeah price jacking for sure!
      E.g. I looked for this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-A-10-1-2019-3…

After the price down, it's still more expensive than the official one in Samsung website with free shipping.

      • Shame it only has 2gb ram and not minimum 3gb. Looking for an Android tablet.

  • +16

I am missing the 10% off the whole eBay. Old days have gone.

  • No KitchenAid :-(

    • same. Looking around for mothers day.

      • Which one? I'm looking for the KSM150, currently best price seems to be $521 off ebay right now.

        • Hi, I am not sure what to buy. Just after KSM160. Do you have any recommendation? my wife is just a casual baker.

          • +2

@Fredfloresjr: Nope, only difference between 150 and 160 is that 160 has more accessories. the 45 is smaller, perhaps if it's just you two that 45 is $400 right now, but if you have kids or want to bake for more than yourselves then the 150/160 seems the way to go.

            • +1

@onlinepred: Thank you for the help. Really have zero idea with this but missus now start to love baking. So might as well spoil her this coming Mothers day. Have a good day.

              • +3

@Fredfloresjr: The 45 is $399 at good guys atm. Looks like you also get a $50 store credit as well.

                • @Tinky Winky: is the size enough to make 10cm cake?

                  • @Fredfloresjr: I don't have one (yet) so I'm not sure how much mixture it holds sorry.
Been wanting to buy one but the attachments are more expensive then the mixer itself

    • Myers online store has kitchenaid stuff on sale https://www.myer.com.au/b/KitchenAid

      • Thanks mate, I did see that. Ended up getting the ksm150 off KitchenAid eBay for $520.

  • +1

I need a free 8TB WD Reds. Anyone found any?

    • +1

You need a free one? or you want a free one?

    • I don't think eBay has any "free" hard drives.

    • +2

I thought eBay did? I get the full price receipt from sellers, but only when paying does the discount get applied.

      • +2

I've been told varying stories. Some companies have told me that eBay adds them to the sale list without even telling them; some others have said ebay pays half they pay half..

        • Ebay normally take their 10%. So either eBay fork out the remaining 5%, which is unlikely, or they just don’t charge the seller the 10% but then the seller has to cop the 5%. Which when you take low margins on some stuff and postage cost, they wouldn’t be willing to do.

          So you get price jacking.

If it was purely eBay getting the cost, sellers wouldn’t bother jacking.

    • +8

From memory these deals are opt in, so the businesses involved sign up/are asked to participate. They could choose not to rather than being dishonest with their pricing.

    • +24

Sorry but that's nonsense. eBay doesn't force them to participate in the sales, so if their margins are too tight to offer these discounts then they shouldn't participate. They're trying to have their cake and eat it too.

What they're doing is blatantly illegal and pretty scummy to boot IMO.

    • Because these "sales" are opt in. And price jacking just before or during a sale is illegal!

  • +61

Does anyone know if Pleasure Warehouse is known for jacking?

    • +1

      Upvoted. Well done.

    • +1

Pleasure Warehouse sounds so cheap. Pleasure Kingdom for me.

      • Still, it's a step up from Pleasure Tent or Pleasure Dumpster.

  • +4

Now waiting for the super search link

    • +11
      • I search for a product and got:
        Error: httlp://www.ebay.com.au/str/boozebud_au
        Error: https://www.ebay.com.au/str/early2bedausc

        • Yes, those store pages don’t exist. Try following the links. I don’t know why they are listed in the T&C page (at least one is a typo). My web app just gets the info from that page (what? make search links manually like a sucker? though you could correct typos…). I might put more explanation in the error message though.

      • +2

Thanks so much for making this!

      • +1

Awesome work again mate, top stuff.

  • +9

It should be called POTENTIAL15 instead to reflect the true likelihood of 15% off.

  • +1

Did not know boozebud had an online store!!

  • +35

Came here to warm people about (they're the same mob)
    - Discount Brands Australia
    - knives online
    - Chalet Essentials

Even though they have heaps of positive feedback, check their ebay negative feedback about providing a fake tracking numbers via couriers please then sending a dummy parcel with tracking via auspost to a random address in your suburb so eBay sides with the seller.

Google "knives online" for their google reviews

    Also see
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/387117

    • +7

      Thanks for the warming

  • any of these do ipad at all?

Was hoping for a music store to be on one of these eBay sales but doesn't look like it again. Wanting to buy a Yamaha Electronic Drumset.

    • Where are you located and what model are you looking for, I have been keeping a close eye on these too so I might be able to help you find a good price.

      • Either Yamaha DTX402K or DTX 452K. I haven't decided which yet but probably the 452k due to better snare and Kick Pedal.
Cheapest online seems to be $645 and $879 but I know they aren't allowed to advertise them at a lower price.
        I'm Brisbane Southside.

        • Sounds like you're all over it, best I've seen new in Adelaide is Yamaha DTX402K Electronic Drum Kit PLUS PACKAGE for $645

  • Toyrus is the only thing that has decent discounts at 15%

    • didnt they close down?

      • Maybe in the US but not here they are clearly on the list

      • +1

Yes, then returned as an online-only business.

        • ah wow learn something new everyday. Thought it was only the US one.

  • +1

    jack15 is back

  • Save your coin for Amazon prime day

  • +1

I keep seeing Mood dog listed in these and I excitedly check to see if they have their range available to buy. But no, still after 5 months they just have two measly ales.

  • Vinomofo are new, so I hope they have not learnt to price jack yet….

  • NUC i was watching at Futu has been price jacked.
