I keep getting these from popping balloons in Animal Crossing.

This one is always at $12. What is the bargain here?

    • +12

Been trying to find one for weeks but its been out of stock. Every other online store that I could find sold it for more than $50.

  • been looking for one everywhere, cheers OP!

  • So does this just press against the sides of the doorway to stay in there? No screws or anything?

    • yes and also hooks over the top door skirting

      • That's what it looked like, would it be an issue that the skirting on top of my door doesn't stick out?

        • +2

yes it will be an issue, as it needs the skirting to latch on to

          • +1

            @drezy:

            • most skirtings in modern houses are MDF. Probably just nails holding it in.
      • +1

But is it safe for a wooden door frame? Or could crush it?

Most 80's and newer houses are metal framed doors. So I could see this being an assumption.

        • +2

Mines on wooden door frame on house built 14 years ago. No issues, I weigh 80kg.

  • Out of stock at all but 1 store in huge area from Ballina to Goondiwindi to Bundaberg!
C&C: Estimated to be ready for collection in 3-7 days

    • +4

You must be very fit for a 70yo.

I'm honest and paid the $9.

    • Lol trying to be the next broden?

  • +12

I never seen a single video clip ends up well with this in it. 😂

    • +2

I have one downstairs and one upstairs for over a decade and I've never had an issue using them over those years.

  • +5

    Maximum load capacity: 100kg.

  • +4

Be careful as the load capacity is not great.

I had one of these last year and at 95kg it struggled with my weight and flexed a bit. I wasn’t confident I was not going to be the next guy one one of those videos going around slamming into the floor or ripping out the door frame.

  • +1

    Sweet, Thanks OP.
My fold down clothesline thanks you also.

YOU GOT A DOOR? YOU GOT A GYM.

    • +1

Hence, hobo got no gym ?

      • +3

I can't be any more clear.

      • +1

Find prisoner workouts, you don't need a door.

    • I have your socks

    • Watched way too much shopping channels😂

  • +8

Be careful, used one once and almost destroyed the door frame. Took it straight back

    • +4

After a quick google on replacement door prices. I decided it's a no.

    • Did it immediately destroy the frame or after a while?

      • +1

It was used on a brand new door frame in a unit about 1 year old and it did two things, one it start pulling down on the wooden frame where you would think the nails start showing at the back and secondly it started dinting the gyprock wall on both sides where the bar makes contact

        • +3

New houses are built like crap though

        • On my door the bars on the side don't touch gyprock, they touch the wooden trim on the side of the door frame.

    • +1

Have used one for several years on the same door frame, never had a problem, but yeah YMMV.

    • +1

      what is your weight?

    • +3

Hopefully Bunnings didn't cause any trouble bringing back that door frame.

"So you're saying a cockroach did this?"

  • Thanks heaps, grabbed one.

  • +4

With all the natural caveats around your own weight, these are really great. Important note - do NOT swing or kip when doing pull ups on this or you WILL get hurt and probably end up on a gymfail video. Otherwise shockingly usable and sturdy.

    • WTF is kip? angled chin up?

      • +1

Essentially a pull up using bad form invented by Crossfit. The founder of Crossfit even regrets teaching it, says it all really.

  • +2

i have not seen one of these being used where the door frame around it, isn't looking half destroyed

    • oh…$h1t…I removed it from my basket after watching this..thanks for this

    • haha. Had that happen to me, ended up putting a beanbag underneath. Then it became kinda fun to fall…

  • +1

These aren't bad but I recommend adding extra padding to sides so it doesn't leave a huge dent in the door

    • Yep, gonna put a pair of socks on it when it arrives.

      • +1

Just cut a sponge in half and stick them between the door frame and the bar. :)

  • Thanks!

  • I got an almost instant:

Your order could not be processed.
For any payment taken in Order , please allow up to seven business days for this to be refunded. Any payments made by gift card will be refunded onto your original gift card.

  • I've used this before and it leaves marks and can damage if its not very well supported, that being said great price

  • +2

I don't think social distancing restrictions on bars have been lifted yet…

  • +2

Bought one. Door frame should be ok as I will no doubt use it a few times and leave it to gather dust….

  • One of the best investments! Have had one for several years and been using it on the same door frame, and never had a problem.

The thing itself is meant to wobble and flex a little, doesn't mean it can't handle your weight, but it should have solid contact (no wobble and slipping) against the door frame when exercising. Just don't do excessive swing.

My body weight ranges from 70-85kg depending on whether I'm leaning down or bulking up. Each workout contains close to 100 repetitions. This thing handles it well.

  • +2

out of stock. Hopefully comes back soon

  • Good on a fairly thick but light wooden door with no siding? (ie. door fits flush)

  • sh!t missed out, really wanted one!!!! Please bring back more stock targjay

  • Any way to get notified immediately when it comes back in stock?

  • Sad, no more

  • -2

Note to..well, most people. If you weren't doing pull ups/chin ups before, you won't be doing them now. Save your money, get a burger from Grill'd or something. Go for a free run. It's much more worth it imo.

  • How safe are these? I've seen one too many videos online where either the door frame/architrave gives way or the bar slips, resulting in either a back or neck injury.

  • I had one of these before, it broke as I was careless and didn't set it up properly on a supporting beam.

Have previously used it on top of a door frame, it works very well as long as you are careful and don't swing/move too much! lol.

My order has been confirmed, this time I will secure it properly to a ledge beneath the deck.

  • Thanks always wanted one of these. But previously they were too expensive to test out for my door frame. Finally cheap enough now but all gone unfortunately

  • I have one that I used in our old apartment. Thankfully the doors had metal frames, but the lip was absolutely tiny. I had to put a beanbag underneath to catch me when I fell (which happened a couple of times).

If it's your own house, just get the bars that screw in the frames (I have one of these also)…
or track down a cheap half rack (I use this exclusively)

  • Not quite the same design, but still, take care - https://i.imgur.com/q2mfh96.jpg

  • suddenly everyone wants to get fit :(

    • +1

they serve as a perfect extra hanger for clothes and laundry :)

    • hang tubs of 1/2 price connoisseur icecream off it?

    Refund for me as well.
In this day and age, it baffles me major shops like target can't run an online shop properly.

  • Refunded

My mate broke both his wrists on one of these only a week ago.
Make sure your pullups are slow and controlled. If there is any swing it can very easily unlatch from the door and just fall. Those fail videos you see are typically from people pullinig up suddenly and taking their weight off the bar at the top.

    • Is his mum helping him out?

  • Max weight 100kg, pfft..

  • Got one and it doesn't fit any of my doorways in a way I would be comfortable using safely. It doesn't seem very well built overall. If you missed out and got refunded, you aren't missing out on much.

Also I noticed there is a significant difference in the way it's put together in some of the photos versus what the instructions instruct you to do. Very odd.

  • Anyone else's order still hanging at "In Progress" ?

    • FYI I ended up enquiring and then it got cancelled.

  • My order got cancelled, money returned citing insufficient stock.
