  • I was in Bunnings the other day and the staff member said stay away from Victa and the brand was by far the worst they sold. Any thoughts?

5 year replacement warranty, can't go wrong.

    • Its owned by briggs and Stratton these days who also generally provide the same engines for everyone else.. Horses for courses really and as said already 5year warranty so why not? Battery side… Don't use them so can't comment on that

Seems to go against the history as well as the reviews of the 82v range which consistently rate very well for performance and reliability.

That said, I believe there is a world of difference between the 18v and the 82v battery range…

I have an 82v Victa mower and it is excellent.

    • I've got the 18v Victa mower but the 18" which is bigger than this one. That's fairly okay.. not bad at all. This one is 37cm for really small yard.

    • Also using the 82V gear from Victa/Briggs and it's been pretty damn good so far. The only downside is the battery life sucks and it's very hard to find extra batteries. 40 minute quick charge - lawn mower lasts about 15-20 minutes. Whipper snipper lasts 25-30 minutes using the 2.0Ah battery.

      • That's your problem, 2ah is not enough by any standard they only thing that suits small batteries around the 2ah would be drills. My experience with the Ryobi 36v garden range is the minimum would be a 4ah at least even a 5ah depending on size of yard. The ideal would be a couple 4ah to get through the damper winter times

        • Actually a 82V 2Ah battery (nominal is actually 72V) contains the same power as a 36V 2Ah battery so unless the 82V mower is using twice as much energy for the same job, you can’t really compare them like that. That said, I agree that 2 x 4ah batteries is the only way to go, charge one while using the other and you have an endless supply.

          • @grover77: One would think that the revolutions and motor capable of the 82v (72v) would require more power but you could be right. A spare is always handy though even if it's 1x 4ah and 1x 2-2.6ah

    • Got told exactly the same thing… apparently the wheels fell off (literally) the very first one they sold.

    • Could it be because they favour Ozito?

  • Aldi have a Lawn Mower it was $149 at the time, still runs great.

Second option maybe a Second-Hand Honda Lawn Mower from Gumtree if you find one in reasonable condition.

      Mega comment!

    • How do you get stock levels outside VIC?
I’m looking for an item in NSW but I only get VIC stock

      • Phone around :p

  • Pricehipster says it’s been $399 for awhile?

  • +1

18V ? maybe if all you are doing is cutting the grass often on a very small footpath. That's not making many watts.

I ave an 80V that is gutless (in comparison to a petrol engine) but does all I need.

    • cant do high, thick weeds. fine for a 400 sqm lawn

  • I got the ryobi 18volt mower trimmer and blower with 2 batteries for $299 from Bunnings in Dec. Don't think it's a very good deal. Also not such a big fan of the 18v mower

  • Considered this but about a month ago…went with this :
    https://www.melbournesmowercentre.com.au/lawn-mower-specials…

It was $300 more than the deal above but their 40V set…(36V actually..like the Ryobi's). But with the whipper snipper and hedge trimmer.

The rep had an extra showroom demo battery he threw in for $50 extra. so two batteries for me..
Used it three times so far. The mower lasted long enough for me to do the lawns (front, back and corner block nature strip. Probably 200sqm of grass). I changed it over for the trimmer and blower…so I don't think I would have done the whole yard work in one go with one battery.

FYI my first time mowing…(I know I know…) we've always got it done by someone but now working from home and the kids in the backyard more…I didn't want to wait 4 weeks between mows. The mower was very easy to start and use etc. I realise I would have problems if I let the grass grow out for ages.

  • I got this for my parent a few days ago and so far so good, i was tossing up between this and the ozito and Ryobi. I went with this as it included the blower.

Mower: good for small yard (blade size 37cm), and according to the specs on the box runs up to 45mins. There is also the dual battery version which is dearer. Cuts cleanly and very light.

    Blower: very powerful and light.
