I have taken up the 1 month free trial in the past, so disappointing that all I am not eligible for any of the promos now.

    • Where does it say that just because you have done 1 month trial, you are ineligible?

    • +2

I have used the 1 month trial and have successfully signed up to this deal in the past.

      • not for me :(

        • The terms say you won't be eligible for another 1m trial, but not that you can't access the deal. That said I do understand the deal ad banner is targeted.

          The terms url is https://tc.ebay.com.au/ebay-plus-50-ebay-voucher-promotion-f…

There may be a unique tracking code after that to access this, but worth trying this url once signed in on the same browser session.

Note the design is confusing. There may be a 'take up offer' button in the top banner which is easily overlooked. May only work in desktop browser mode if accessing on mobile. That tracking should work, but the terms then shown in sign up screen are non discount terms (poor design) so I suggest screen shots as you sign up in case of debate with ebay to get the voucher later

eBay seems to be trying very hard to entice people onto their eBay Plus program. Almost every week there is a deal trying to get more users onto the program.

    • +4

Of course, the business model is sign everyone up, give them (profanity) all for their 50 bucks, and then laugh all the way to the bank as millions forget to cancel.

      • +1

But if they put in the same amount of effort trying to be a real competitor to Amazon Prime, they would be a lot more successful. From what I have heard/read, it is very average.

  • +16

I did this last round and so far not bought anything by plus and only used $25 of voucher. Prime on the other hand, I use most days.

    • Is the voucher one use only (forfeit remaining balance after use) or is it like a gift card which can be used for smaller amounts until all balance us used?

      • +1

It’s a gift card so you can use it multiple times.

      • I believe it is multiple use. I haven't tried a second purchase yet but it definitely looked that way.

    • Have there been any sign up deals for Prime? I keep waiting but maybe they don't exist?

      • +1

One month free is about it I think. $59 a year is easy to cover post particularly from US.

        • Sorry I haven't been following the Amazon au deals as they tend to not be of any interest but does prime get you access to all the US products as well?

          • @FoxBaer: When you buy from Amazon US, you get free shipping with prime if order is over $50

  • +1

Just sign up when you have to buy something from eBay that's >$50 and use the digital gift card to pay for it. Would be helpful if I can remember to take my own advice…

    • +2

Not if you want that thing by a specific time. eBay are often slow at getting the vouchers out.

  • -5

seems not worth it…. …. $50 credit for $49 fee to sign up

  • +8

Does anyone feel like they've ever gotten value from ebay plus? I did a year for a previous promo and never felt like I got much from it. Not nearly as good as amazon imo

    • I found I got much better support in a dispute. But is worth $49 for a dispute on a $5 phone case?

    • +1

Agree, never really got value out of it. Never used the free returns. Plus member discounts + free shipping used maybe a couple of times, but that's not to say you couldn't shop around and get a similar deal.

I got much better value out of the Amazon Prime membership particularly with international shipping

    • I think I have. Free postage with Computer Alliance. Ordered a few thing through the year.

  • +2

eBay is getting worse and desperate, I usually only use eBay to obtain odd things that I can't find elsewhere nowadays.

  • +4

I got the offer last year and have not really got value for it. I haven't even used the $50 Gift card yet.

They give you a $5 voucher for Plus items every moment but you can't stack it and you have to spend $50+ so it becomes useless as there always seems to be another better voucher available.

    I will not renew.

  • Is the gift card a flat 50$ one or do they give 5$ a month voucher for 10 months?

    • +1

      Flat $50.

      • +2

        Yep

$50.00 as flat then additional $5.00 off at minimum of $50 spending monthly.

  • +2

If I could get my money back on this waste of service I would…

Don't support this. It's been watered down since launch.

  • Dumb question. If you're an existing member, do you have to cancel your membership and then take the offer up?

  • +1

Be warned, this isn’t a “gift card” it’s $50 off voucher that can’t be stacked with other codes. Very misleading.

I finally used mine on yesterday’s TGG’s Google Hub Max. Except that’s getting refunded, but have no idea what’s going to happen with my $50 “gift card”.

Oh, and eBay Plus is pointless. You still have to deal with the shitty sellers, compared with Prime where you deal with Amazon.

    • Wrong, I got mine and I was able to stack it with other promos.

      • +4

I wasn't able to stack mine with other coupons (e.g. 10% off) because I had to enter the $50 code into the 'Gift cards, vouchers, coupons' box and would only accept one code.

        • Odd, try contacting support maybe?

        • +1

It should be a gift card that you can stack. Unless you don't get it automatically and have to complain, then they will send you a voucher that can't stack and has a shorter expiry. However, you can use the voucher to buy a gift card.

      • Ditto, mine was a gift card, I could stack ok.

        • Got my voucher a week and a half ago (this deal has still been running, just not promoted). Took 4 days for them to send it.

It is a gift card so effectively credit at checkout. Stacked with both the $5 voucher and a discount code when I spent it a couple of days ago.

These ebay Plus deals always remind me to unsubscribe from eBay Plus lol.

  • It was joining free before.

  • To cancel membership, I put 2 weeks notice before the renewal membership date to avoid membership fee.

    • +1

Cancel now and forget the reminder. You still get the benefits until it expires.

      • I just did this and they gave me a $30 gift card to stay, even though it doesn't expire until next Jan.

        • +2

Saw your reply so I tried it, also got offered a $30 gift card to stay so I accepted it

          • @jingy: But do you get the gift card now, or when you pay your next renewal?

            • @puffinfresh: After you pay the renewal so technically it becomes $20 to renew. So basically $10 per year for two years then you drop out and never join EBay Plus again!

  • +9

Haha. More like the sign up for eBay Plus under the promise of a voucher but never receive it. There are loads of people in that situation and I'm one of them. Don't waste your time.

    • +2

I had to contact eBay for many months providing them with screenshot evidence until they eventually provided me with a$50 voucher.

    • Maybe check your ebay inbox if not yet? I was in the same situtaion as you and chatted with many ebay support people many times who even escalated this to some big boss until a 'big boss' told me to check my ebay inbox ( not the email like gmail etc) …. it was issued 1 week after I paid the fee… :)

      • They told me that they hadn't sent me a gift card because I wasn't eligible. Luckily I had taken many screenshots of the process. It still took much convincing.

    • I actually got 2 $50 vouchers, the second was came as an apology for the delay in receiving the original one.

  • +4

Don't sign up for ebay plus. It's worthless even when it's given out like this

  • +1

Without this deal the eBay plus would be worthless for majority of ppl. I mean rarely ppl would want to actually purchase plus for $49 bucks.
Did good business with eBay when I had plus for a year. Initially.

I look at prime for $84 a year and I see their Prime Videos to be worth that itself. Perception has changed since. So thus the business from eBay to Amazon. GL eBay. I am out though.

    • Prime is only $59 a year if you take annual subscription rather than pay by month.

    • Why is eBay plus worthless? I can see how Amazon Prime is useful for free deliveries in small items.

  • +2

Took me 3 months and contacting support multiple times.

  • +3

Last year I received a $49 voucher for signing up to eBay plus. The voucher had a $150 minimum spending condition.

  • just make a new account with the trial if you need something from eBay plus and cancel lol

  • Thx OP! Save the voucher for a good sony wf1000xm3 deal in the future.

  • What is considered "a relevant purchase history"?

  • +1

People still buy from eBay here? Cancer for a sales website.

  • Complete waste of time unless you have something for $50 that you want to buy. That's the only reason why I bought one but ebay plus is a joke. Amazon prime is great. BTW I love ebay and buy heaps of stuff from it but ebay plus doesn't provide any benefits for me.
