Going to neg this because even though you acknowledged it last time you have made no effort to fix this omission on either of the Kaspersky products you sell.

Encrypts data you send & receive online – VPN**

** 200MB of data traffic protected per device, per day

Had to look it up on the Kaspersky website because you didn't include it on yours or in the description here.

Indeed misleading - also - Bitdefender ftw

      • +2

        bitdefender poor.

      • +2

Only one in three Bitdefender products were reccomended by Choice Magazine in their review of 35 products on March 27 2020 (5 weeks ago).
All three Kaspersky products were reccomended. The following is a copy/paste from the details of Kaspersky Internet Security….. GOOD POINTS
        • Excellent overall • Excellent protection against malware • Very good ease of use • Can be downloaded to a bootable USB key • Has extension or plug-in for IE, Chrome and Firefox • Low impact on system resources…. BAD POINTS • Automatically disables Windows Defender • Automatically disables Windows Firewall

        • +3

The fact they put Bad points as "automatically disables windows defender" shows just how little faith I'd put into a Choice review of AntiVirus.

Not to say it's not a good AV (in fact it's the one I run) but Choice should stick to microwaves :)

          • @stratbargain: Hi Luke,
Whilst it’s hard to find a purely independent reviewer of AV products, I wouldn’t recommend using choice magazine as a source.
Suggest referring to my post from the AVG post the other day, AV comparatives is an independent AV reviewer who run serious testing. It is backed by ISO 9001:2015 certification from TUV.
Please refer to their latest summary reports. https://www.av-comparatives.org/tests/summary-report-2019/
Kaspersky (in particular Kaspersky Internet Security) is a solid choice platform of AV. It was rated Top Rated product 2019. BitDefender is no slouch, it won Product of the year ahead of Kaspersky, AVAST, and AVG.

          • +1

@stratbargain: Funny that. I've been running KAS for a few years now on various laptops and it has never "disabled" Windows security/firewall on any of them.

Agree 100% re Choice. Some Choice reviews show just how little they know about the products they review. Said it before but it's worth repeating - for many tech devices, cameras etc you are FAR better looking for specialist reviews.

Both AV-Test and AV-Comparatives are good sources of info on AV software.

            Good deal btw.

            • @[Deactivated]: kas has never caused crashs in recent years in my experience - bitdefender on the other hand besides being resource heavy has caused a variety of issues..

choice has recommended many lemons over the years, and is merely - in respect of software - an opinion.

    • So 200mb of data via VPN and unlimited otherwise?

      • +1

im guessing u have to pay to get more data through via vpn….

    • Protects payments, with bank-grade encryption*
Stops webcam spies watching you in your home*

I'm guessing these two points are also missing some fine print….

      • +1

Your bank already uses bank-grade encryption…

        • +1

The AV protects the link between your device and the bank in a protected browser window IF you want to work that way. You can set it up to automatically run for particular websites, to prompt before use, or to "never" use. Also provides a virtual keyboard in case you've somehow picked up a keylogger, which shouldn't happen if you've got your Kas AV up to date and run scans regularly.

        • Does it prevent keyloggers? Noo…. Probably the only thing I can think of that this AV could add…

What about webcams? I guess best method is just to not have one in the first place…

          • @Zachary: Deja vu all over again. Your knowledge of this AV - and probably most others judging by your comment - is on a par with your knowledge of hand washing for Covid-19. There's an easy way to fix your incomprehension - do some reading before you make error-ridden comments on things you know nothing about.

            • @[Deactivated]: I think you replied to the wrong guy….or maybe you need to read who I replied to….

              • @Zachary: Wasn't clear, nevertheless based on your last 3 sentences/guesses my comment still applies. If nothing else more reading will hopefully lead to less guessing.

                • @[Deactivated]: I merely pointed out that they are missing some fine print or else what are the asterisks for? And then CaffeinatedTech says the bank already covers that and then I replied with, the bank does not have any measures against keyloggers but the AV would add this feature into the mix and then mentioned about webcams that he forgot about and then you come along and berate me out of the blue….

Update: OP has decided to ignore this once again. Instead they thought it would be a much better idea to go snoop in my history to find a deal I posted so they can neg that in return.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/534505#comment-8662276

I think it's safe to say now that OP is misleading people on purpose.

      • +2

Mmmm, that's petty of OP hence will neg deal for that alone plus the misleading VPN issue.
@OP……feel free to Neg all you like as I always enjoy a good neg :-)

      • I can't see the connection or why you are so fired up about not amending some minor descriptions.

amazon rarely ever amends anything regardless of whether its critical.

you obviously want to cause damage to either the company or the product or both.

dunno about the company - products good.

        • Agree. If you want to know the intimate details of any product - esp software - then you should read the fine print and chase reviews. OP was silly to retaliate and would do better simply to put basic info in the deal and say "see Kaspersky website for full details" or similar. As ever, those interested should click though. That said I wouldn't mind seeing more negs for products which make unsubstantiated claims - esp electronic goods from a particular region. Caveat emptor because marketplaces like Amazon and Ebay don't give a fig.

          • @[Deactivated]:

If you want to know the intimate details of any product - esp software - then you should read the fine print and chase reviews.

That part of the fine print was missing.

They got the description, images and fine print from Kaspersky and put it all on their own website except for the fine print regarding the VPN only protecting 200MB of traffic per day. That one they decided to omit. I brought it to their attention last time and while they acknowledged it they did nothing to fix it. I think it's totally fine to let people know about that.

            Negative Vote

            Purpose:

            • To let others know about issues with the deal, merchant or product.
            • +1

@HomeAlone: You didn't have to spell it out, we all understood what your complaint was. I didn't imply that your neg was invalid - inn fact my last comment was supportive - however now that you point it out I'd say it was marginal at best. Can't see any issues with the deal or the product (both of which are good) and the poster (merchant's agent) was at worst a little negligent given you'd apparently pointed out his omission previously.

The whole point of deals is to alert people to a product or service at a good price. It's then up to bargain hunters to click through and read the fine print. After all it's not as if clicking on a deal link locks you into a purchase. I understand some people need to be spoon-fed and have their nappies changed but it's hardly rocket surgery and takes but a few minutes of their time.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Sorry. I guess I misunderstood what you meant when you said you agree with petry. I thought this meant you also agreeing with this

you obviously want to cause damage to either the company or the product or both.

so I wanted to explain in better detail the reason for the vote.

                • @HomeAlone: All good, we both missed the mark a little.

                • @HomeAlone: my comment had nothing to do with the neg - I just disagreed with your assertion that

'I think it's safe to say now that OP is misleading people on purpose'

not amending the full fine print is not deliberately trying to mislead, when amazon do it every day…

      • HAhahaha, well, revenge is best served cold….

  • They have to pay me money to use this.

    MalwareBytes Free + Windows Defender

    • Or Linux?

    • Spybot any good ?

      • +2

I tested many Antivurs software in the market.

Non of them is perfect but the best one so far is Kaspersky (at present)! Bitdefender, ESET and Webroot are almost the same. If you want a free one then go for Kaspersky free and Sophos AV for free. Malwarebytes antivirus free is useless when it comes to getting ride of viruses but it's very quick to pick up new viruses.

Also, if anyone really have a technical question for Kasperksy, they should contact 1300 762 833 for support and leave the reseller alone as they basically know nothing. They are only good for pricing!

  • Does it have an expiry date?

    • +1

Use before 31st Dec 2021. Will give you one year from the day you register.

  • Didn't they sponsor the Manly Sea-Eagles a few years back?
Must explain the negatives then? :)

    • Kaspersky was sponsoring last year, dunno about this season. thought des was going ok…
