  • How would these compare to hepa jobbies for people who have allergies? Expensive to buy. Expensive to run?

    • +1

They dont work well for filtering dust.

The new model was tested by choice and rated very poorly for dust and smoke but good for VOC's. Overall rating of 43%

      • Didn’t Choice rate the HP04 at 62%, about half way down the list? For reference, the Dyson hot n cold AM09 (without the filter) rated #1 in the test at 78%.

    • If you have people with allergies then you want RADIANT heat not a fan blower.

This is an old model and not cheap.
    Cheapest seems to be $424.
There was a deal for $499 that included an extra filter as worth $99.

    • Yes, not historical low but lowest since bushfires.

I have this and find it pretty useless. Looks cool, but apart from that, pretty useless.

I've bought this model 3ys ago about $499. It's pretty good.

  • I have ducted gas heating, so I run this during the day with solar…I guess nothing you couldn't accomplish without a smart plug.

But I must be a very limited use case.

  • I would assume if primary purpose is air filter, it is better to buy dedicated one?

  • It’s crap I have one

    • +1

Damn, I ordered the cooling only version with my Velocity points a few weeks ago. It hasn't arrived yet (two more week apparently) but now I'm not looking forward to it as much. :-(

Any particular reason why it is crap though? I intend to use it as an air purifier at night and during summer, as just a fan to cool the bedroom down.

      • It’s just not worth the money for a fan that doesn’t do its job on a hot day. On cold days in a small room it’s ok but when you put it in a large room or open space it just doesnt send the warmth to us. Purifier is great and it looks good but it’s just not worth it. I won’t buy any more Dyson fans.

        • Ahh good. Mine is cooling only and in a medium bedroom so likely to be effective for me.

          Thanks!

@danielh: I think you miss understood. Warm is okay for a small room, cool on hot day in a small room won’t work unless you have the fan 1 metre away from you.

      • It's basically useless as a purifier. Look at the tests. It doesnt filter very well.

  • I just bought the newer model at Costco.
I returned it as I swear my $15 target heater did a better job at keeping me
    Warm.

Sure the wifi was nice but not $800 nice.

Can’t comment on the air filter as I don’t really have an allergy

  • This seems to be expired, it's back to $799 and out of stock on ebay
