[Price Error] Apple AirPods Pro $279 + $10.99 Delivery @ Dick Smith by Kogan

Moved to Forum: Original Link

First post. Unless I'm missing something, I just stumbled across these for $279. Could try an OW price match?

edit: OW won't price match as the part number (MWP22ZAA) isn't clearly listed on the dicksmith website

Minchinbury officeworks have 10 in stock and happy to price match $275.49 8/5/20 17:07pm

edit: To those saying "Thanks OP!", a HUGE thank you to this community that I have been a part of for about a decade! I am on ozbargain every day and I am SO happy that my first post made so many people happy! You guys are amazing.

edit: I called the store I got the price match from (Minchinbury). They said there has been no "flagging from head office" or angry recourse from management but the price has been changed on DS and so no more matches. She was happy to do it. Im happy for everyone who was able to get one (or two!). 8/5/20 18:33pm

  • Shows $389 in cart for me at 5:20pm

  • Also the page is now showing $379. Party is over now. It is a great win for those who could manage to price match before it was flagged.

  • Got it from OfficeWorks Castle Hill 40 mins ago, after me I saw another customer was asking the same thing at the counter. Thanks OP!

  • +2

Price has now changed, a good way for Dick Smith in nabbing a temporary, interest-free loan in these times

  • +3

And now people are listing on FB market place for $350. 🤦

  • +1

Too late guys. DS corrected their price! Showing $379 at 5.25pm

  • -2

Does anyone have a screenshot of the total in cart (before it got pulled)? Want to claim a price protection. Thanks

    • +3

Turns out didn't need a screenshot of total in cart. I called up my credit card company and talked to the customer service agent. I had a screenshot of the page and advised of this (not of total in cart). Agent advised they don't need evidence due to being under $200 price difference. Was able to process a claim over the phone.

Also, not sure why I got downvoted, but whatever.

      • Could you please explain what you were trying to achieve here with contacting your card provider?

Did you pay normal price and claim buyers price protection to have them match the price and reimburse the difference? If so was it purchased same place or they price match from another retailer?

        • Price protection is via 28 degrees credit card. I already own the AirPod Pros. I paid the normal price at Apple in January and have up to 12 months to claim a price protection (price drop). Does not have to be from the same retailer. They refund the difference to your card as a payment once approved.

      • Yeah I'd be interested in this too. My credit card says you have to purchase first then you have to show a catalogue which is printed afterwards.

        • +1

          See my comment above.

      • Hey luztra, would you be able to share the screenshot of the page with me? I might try claiming price protection as well. Thanks in advance.

  • Just checked the website, it states:
"All items are in stock and will be dispatched from our Melbourne warehouse in 24 -72 hours of your payment being received."

    • +4

      Terms and conditions - 7.4:

Despite Our best efforts, on occasion it may be possible that a small number of the Products in Our range may be incorrectly priced on the Website. If We have made a mistake and a Product's correct price is higher than the price on the Website, We may either contact You before shipping to request whether You want to buy the Product at the correct price or cancel Your Order. If a Product's correct price is lower than the stated price on the Website, We will charge the lower amount and send You the Product, or where the higher incorrect price has been charged, We will refund the price difference and send You the Product.

      • What do you think the likeliness would be of them cancelling?

        • 100%

  • Go to Officeworks Watergardens

    • +1

Yikes. I don’t think $15 will cover the grief from getting stabbed at that area so no thank you.

  • I got the price match with office works ( 279 + 11.99) delivery and - 5% price beat. I paid 276.44

  • +1

Leaves warehouse in 1-2 weeks according to the page now…

    • +1

      Mine says "Transmitted to warehouse"

      • Processing in warehouse, good luck haha
        Expected Dispatch: 11th May

        Edit: Now transmitted to warehouse

  • I just checked it's gone up to $379.

  • 6751 clicks wow… So many people claiming bargains when they are possibly not even a member of this site.

    • +1

Dunno, maybe you should try and let us know so you could contribute something to the community

    • If you managed to get served by someone who did one of these and still unaware of the price has now been changed, then he/she might do it for you.
      Realistically though, no.

Apple products + most likely pricing error + listed on OZB, you really need to be quick.

  • +4

Jogged to Officeworks Northmead - they price matched it and didn't even charge delivery. Got one for $265

    • +1

Worth the jog. Well played. Anyone like me who ordered from Kogan will get cancelled.

    • Ignore, sorry.

  • +2

Lucky I went in store to OW in time. Was able to get OW five dock to price match.$275.49

  • Local OW seemed okay with price matching but were OOS, apparently had been for a while. Oh well, still got them through DSE as long as the order doesn't get cancelled.

  • -7

OW needs to get their act together. How is it that so many OW allowed, yet so many did not allow?

    • I'm surprised to get negs. If they do get their act together, it will help OzBs, knowing for certain whether OW match or don't match.

      • They might think you sound salty

    • +8

Didn't neg you, but it is common sense.

OW have different staff in different stores. Even a store would have multiple managers. This deal requires manager approval and whether you get it or not depends on whether the manager approves it or not. They are human beings, not robots so it's not 1 or 0.

The official position for OW was not to price match as stated in the deal description. However, people know their local OWs may be lenient enough.

People got price match/beat were basically lucky. Don't despair, just think of it as you didn't waste $275 on a toy that you actually don't need.

      • What happens to the stores that manage to get a price match? If I was a manager, I'd probably approve it to. I'm always afraid to PM and have only done it once because as someone on this thread said, the death stares you can get.

        • Nothing will happen to the stores.

If you really want to get bargains, sometimes you need to have a thick skin. This is OZBargain, not OZGoldenCitizen. Most OW staff are alright. They do try to PM as much as possible.

The death stares example is minority and because you don't PM much so you don't know the full story. Using other OW store's receipt to PM basically means the store was unwilling to do it initially, but a staff is somewhat willing to do it. Essentially, if you have a legit way to do PM, you wouldn't need another store's receipt.

          • @netsurfer: yeah I've done it once at officeworks, it was great no hassles but I was still scared haha…at JB they tried to get me to purchase warranty and stuff, I was just ready to walk out when they offered it to me. Yeah I get your point, but why refuse then if nothing happens?

  • There is nothing mentioned about AU warranty in Dick Smith Website. I got one and want to know whether this product is covered by apple warranty?

    • One year Apple warranty in the "Warranty and returns" section

      • 1 Year Worldwide Apple Warranty (Included)

Assuming you do get one, Dick Smith is basically indicating it could be overseas stock. Apple will do the warranty for you the first year. Second year onwards, it will depend on the store or Apple Support staff.

    • That was fast shipping

  • -1

Thanks. I got 2 airpods pro in officeworks!!

    • What time did you get?

      • +1

Thanks, I also got 3 airpods pro in officeworks

      • It was around 5:00pm not sure. But they have only 2 in stock

  • +3

    Errr….. I missed it

  • +2

Excellent first post OP well done!! Got a pair thank you 😀

  • +1

    Oh mannnnnnnn

  • Is there a law or anything us consumers can fall back to whenever a "price error" like this happens? Even if they cancel the orders, they already made money of us. It's common enough that I feel like there should be a law somehow…

    • +3

Unfortunately, no, because we tend not to read the terms and conditions in full before we purchase it. As stated in section 7.4,

So, assuming there is a checkbox which the customer has to tick to accept the terms and conditions, the customer cannot use the excuse he/she didn't read it because it is too long.

    • They didnt make any money.

Kogan is filthy rich, tripled its sales and company value every year since 5 years. They got plenty of cash asset.

Why would they even want your $300 in first place.

I would go as far as to say they actually lost money as now someone will have to do all the refunds which will take ages, and that person will have to delay other responsibilities which may or may not directly or indirectly affect real sales and real profit.

  • +3

Really great price! Pity they aren’t comfortable and sound quality is lacklustre.

I dumped these for the Powerbeats Pro after one week. Never looked back. Personal preference though.

    • This is facts right here. PBP wins in sound quality, hands down. To each their own, no need to attack by negging the comments.

      • +1

        Agreed👍

  • +8

I bought from Kogan then thinking it’ll get cancelled I also ordered from OW….so now I have two 😬

It took 2 OW managers who were extremely unhappy about it for me to get it through. They huffed and puffed, gave me death stares and treated me like I was stealing from them and in the end the only reason why they agreed is because they found in the system that other Ow had Matched it. It was a good 15min of them sitting there and talking and making a fuss in front of all the customers.

    • +1

How about a + vote for this deal? Seems like OP tried to get OW to price match and had no luck.
The irony is that OP posted the deal and probably won't be receiving one. I certainly hope Dick Smith will honour it, but given that it is now owned by Kogan, the chance is quite slim.

      • It’s not like dick smith honoured price errors prior to being acquired by Kogan haha

      • +5

@netsurfer. Honestly, I found the deal, and asked my fiance if she wanted cheap pair of airpods and she said "eh, no". So I posted this to OZB. Then 10 minutes after it blew up, she said she wanted some. So thats when we joined the chaos and tried to get a deal. Can confirm we were rejected by 1300OFFICE twice, and Blacktown, NSW store. Minchinbury, NSW store welcomed us with open arms. They said "I just got off the phone w/someone else and did a match, come on in!". So happy ending here :)

        • +1

          So happy ending here :)

'Hopefully many more to come ;-)

Thanks for posting this up. 'Surprised no one suggests we rename this site to OzPriceErrors or OzPriceBeat yet…

        • +2

Great to know you managed to get one. Very nice of you as it is for your fiance.

        • +2

I just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing

          • +4

@Dexdexter: Thank you! I got such an endorphin rush watching it blow up and so many grateful ozbargainers! You're all so welcome! I am absolutely humbled by my first post going so well :)

    • its like the discount is coming out of their pockets

    • That’s uncomfortable. Hope that they suit you for the trouble 👍

  • Got 1 Burleigh. Only 1 per customer.

  • Asked pricematch to OW West RYde, they rejected it as its from Dick Smith. they don't have any rule for PM. Just whatever the managers want.

  • Managed to order from DSE, what are the chances of it being cancelled?

    • +1

I will give ya 100 to 1 on this being honoured

      • +1

And 1.001 for ACCC being mentioned in this comment thread in the next 12 hours

  • -1

    Thanks got two!

    • when?

  • +1

    How it worked?

  • +4

thank god it expires. I would've been 280 bucks poorer if I'd seen it a few more times.

    • yeah same, I was on this deal since the beginning contemplating on whether to get it. Honestly the biggest draw back for me was no USB C charging since pretty much everything else I have charges through that. In saying that, this deal lasted much longer than I anticipated.

  • These a hopeless returned mine months ago, terrible fit, NC average. And I have all Apple gear. Got a pair of Bose 700 instead.

      • $400 bucks for half decent lol, negged.

  • Can we show the receipt of those who already grabbed at OW and get the price beat?

    • There have already been a few posted in this deal.

  • Anyone got a screenshot of the discount? I'm going to see if my credit card will let me price match

    • PM me. I have the whole page saved.

      • +1

Hey Gradesbrah, would you be able to share the screenshot of the page with me? I'll PM you. Thanks.

  • This reminds me so much on Google Nest Hub Max deal at The Good Guys for $129, when it was actually cost $299. I got two at OW for $130 each! It feels like stealing when OW does a price match.

  • Cant do through the phone. They keep rejecting even with the OW recipe. Very disappointed

  • +4

My status has been updated from transmitting in warehouse to being picked in warehouse
    THERE IS HOPE EVERYBODY

    Good luck to you all

    • +1

      Same here.

    • +1

      Mine the same

      • I just logged in to see this status (I didn't get an email to say this has progressed so didn't even know "transmitting in warehouse" was the stage before)

    • Now it's been canceled.

  • +1

Didn't bother trying pricematch - just ordered Dick Smith. Fingers crossed this gets honored!
