This version does not come with the camera which is required to operate.

    • +2

Also add to the fact that this is version 1 and not 2 of ps vr.

  • +5

Seems to be available for individual purchase though

    EB Games Version 1 pre-owned: $68
EB Games Version 2 Brand New: $89.95

Big W Version 2: $79 (if you can find stock)

So $339.95 if you bought the version 2 camera from EB Games.

      CEX sells them for $62.

    Lots of fun at first

    • +12

Lots of fear if you start off with Resident Evil.

    • +5

      Lots of vomiting..

    • +1

Ace combat is awesome in VR. If you get dizzy just hang out in the aircraft carrier and watch the plane do formation and maneuvers.

  • +2

    worth it at this price?

      • Really? For PS5?

      • +29

Lmao no it doesn't. They won't release a new PSVR until at least a couple years into PS5 lifecycle. You're blowing smoke out your ass.

      • +2

Sorry Wizard but this is just not true.

      • +4

I wish but nah they are working on a new one it's still got no I indication of a date could be years away. This version however will work on ps5

      • +6

        Username does NOT check out.

        • +8

I am not affiliated with the poster above. @Wizard be cool, you're giving all of us a bad name.

      • Fake Wizard

    • +9

Yes, even if just for the game Beat Saber

      • +8

I've found BoxVR to be really excellent during iso, and playing through Superhot VR is a revelation. So good. WipEout VR is the cherry on top.

      • +2

To be honest I'd never pay for beat saber without custom songs

      • -1

        Related to Pork Sword?

    • At this price? No, because normally you can get it cheaper, but in general, if you haven't tried VR and you already own a PS4, it's worth the money.

    • Still not worth it. The novelty wears out very quickly. Put that cash towards a PS5 instead.

    • keep in mind this is just the head mounted display. the camera and wands are sold separately.

  • +3

Worth it just for Beat Saber and AstroBot. I really enjoyed Gun Club as well.

  • +2

I really like it but it's a huge PITA with all the cables everywhere once setup.

    • +1

This is why the quest feels so good, but lacking a few games the PSVR has e.g. Astro Bot

    • +1

I set mine up beautifully so that the processor and cables are all tidy and hidden in the entertainment unit. I’ve got the headset in its travel case in the cupboard and when I feel like some VR action I plug it into the processor and away I go.

      PS. Astrobot is pure gold.

  • not the best deal around.
as stated above comes with no camera, and no games… which considering we have seen deals before for this price with the camera and game (or $300 with several games).

still this deal is okay if you already have a camera, and are not interested in the games that come in the pack.

  • +7

I'm not happy with the description at the top when you need to buy the camera as well:"

"From the moment you slip on PlayStation VR, the new Virtual Reality system for PlayStation 4, you’ll experience games in an entirely new way. You’ll be at the centre of the action, living every detail of extraordinary new worlds – and you’ll feel like you’re actually inside the game"

It would perhaps be better to say:

"From the moment you slip on PlayStation VR AND BUY THE CAMERA ACCESSORY OR JUST BUY THE BUNDLE, the NOT SO new Virtual Reality system for PlayStation 4, you’ll experience games in an entirely new way. You’ll be at the centre of the action, living every detail of extraordinary new worlds – and you’ll feel like you’re actually inside the game"

Saying that, having bought the bundle myself, I haven't looked back, it is absolutely awesome. Couldn't recommend it enough. Just be careful which games you buy though, like the ones where you move around make me very sick. Whereas the ones that teleport, or are stationary, I have no vomit issue at all, just a crap load of fun!

I played my vr heaps in the first 2 weeks when i got it, and since then, nothing. I found i really have to be in the right mindset and mood to play it. Tired from work? Cant play. Slight headache. Cant play. Sleepy. Cant play.

    • +1

I find I use my Quest more for exercise than pure games - I can stream over Wifi via Virtual Desktop from Steam, but still mostly just play Beat Saber. I've also started playing Thrill of the Fight which is exhausting.

I use it at least twice a week, usually every second day.

(Edit: For context, I got my headset early December)

      • +2

Yeah I had a psvr and I have a quest now and the psvr is a vastly inferior product. That's why it's 250 dollars instead of 650 though.

The psvr was always a pain to setup and the 180 degree nature with virtual turning made me really motion sick.

The resolution of course matters too, a lot of words and stuff were too fuzzy for me on the psvr.

In saying that its still a good cheap way to get the vr experience.

  • Price quoted in the title (dropped from) is not accurate - The going rate for a VR v4 bundle, comes with VR headset, camera and games is $399 at JB Hifi, Big W and Amazon, the one mentioned in post is VR headset ONLY.

    Amazon - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07B2QBQYP/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_S7…

    • Linked Amazon bundle states camera is not included # Edit: which is weird because it's in the picture…?

      What you need
      * PlayStation Camera, is required for PlayStation VR.
      * PlayStation Move, sold separately, is supported by some PlayStation VR software

What you’ll find in the PlayStation VR Box
      * PlayStation VR headset, Processor unit,Stereo earbuds,HDMI cable,
      * USB cable,AC adaptor and power cord, PS VR headset connection adaptor

  • just the vr headset not a pack?

    • Read the first comment? Or any others?

  • +1

Is this version 1 or 2

  • does this work on pc and how good? about $330 with camera, any other pc vr competitor that performs better at a similar price? i watched that half life game it looks impressive in vr

  • +3

    Worth it for Astrobot alone.

  • Can anyone reasonably predict when PS4’s will be $200 again?

    • +2

Probably not anytime soon because console sales have gone through the roof with Isolation and people being bored at home. Possibly Black Friday or if a retailer like Target/HarveyNorman that likes to offload gaming gear cheap when new models are released might do a fire sale on PS4s when PS5 is officially announced or close to release.

  • +3

Laying on the couch, staring up into the sky, where a massive screen floats, playing all your normal PS4 games is supremely comfortable.

Frees up the TV for the family too and allows me to play violent games without worrying about whether the kids will see it.

    • +6

Family is watching Frozen on the screen and you are thrashing your arms in corner screaming "Die (profanity) die!"

    • +1

Why does politics have to get involved?

      • because the politis of covid effect everything

        • All politics, all of society, everything affects everything. People deal with it the way they always deal with things, however they can. People still want entertainment, even when things get really tough, and Australia is one of, if not the least affected country by the Coronavirus in terms of infections and death, thankfully.

          • -1

            @FabMan: Thats what i said

'Most Australians prefer not to think about what's happened to their country - perfect present for the times - a blindfold with moving images'.

And all that happening here is a delay caused by stopping international travel.

When the yanks want to ship it in they will because we have no control over american military personnel doing just that all over the country via their military bases. They are just waiting for the flu season to commence to false flag the sick like they did in their own shitty country back in 2019

  • Mine headset stopped working 2 months out of warranty and I would not buy the v1 again. The v4 is out now the guy at JB said the ones they’re selling have been sitting there since launch

  • As others said not the best price if you have to purchase camera and games separately. If you already have a camera might be a good deal, PlayStation often has the games on sale. I like mine and just played an hour ago, but as another comment said you can’t play if you have a headache or very tired. The motion sickness is very real, but I’ve found physically moving side to side really helps (motion sickness is caused when your eyes detect movement and body doesn’t) Some games like Astro Bot don’t cause sickness at all because they’re designed for it. Borderlands is terrible for sickness, however if you love the game the ability to walk around inside the game is amazing.

  • +1

Waiting for the console to drop. Itchy to buy one :D

  • -8

Trash, dust collector with a billion wires.

    • Agree with the wire bits

  • +1

This makes me glad I decided to get one in November when they were $262 delivered on Amazon including camera and 5 games (codes).

  • I feel like I need to take travel sickness everytime I played one. Anyone in the same boat? Such a shame my body couldn't handle the tech.. It was fun for sure.

    • Not all games make you sick. Generally, only games where you move around make you sick. Newer games tend to make use of teleporting which do not make you sick. It really is worth trying games such as Appolo Creed Boxing, Gun Club, Tetris, Box VR.

Some games, I get sick just thinking about them now, in that I got so so sick. But others are fine!

    • You get used to it the more you use it. Eventually you get no nausea at all. I play Skyrim vr in free movement mode and never get nauseous. You just need to take off the helmet every time you feel ill. Over time you get used to it. Eventually you can play for hours with no trouble.

  • Does this work for Steam games, more specifically Half Life Alyx?

  • These usually go for $299 with camera and 5 games around sale time lmao 250 isn't a deal

  • This is psvr1 while theres a version 2 and no camera which has been stated. This deal is not all that great when you look at it from a different perspective. Add the games and move controller with the camera you are spending an easy $400. This does not come with vr worlds AND I think it doesn't come with a demo disc but do comment if I am wrong.

I was happy when I first saw this but after a little bit of investigation realised it's a bad deal.

  • -1

If anyone is looking for a good game I can't recommend enough The Walking Dead's Saints & Sinners - it's really good (you need the move controllers, though).

Gorn is coming out in a week or two, as well, which is a Gladiator styled game. Looks very promising.
