why? it'd be more convenient to charge from a mains charger…

  • Useless, it is a dummy way of charging. A waste of time in my book.

    • Looks small, great for travelers.

1.charge some batteries from my laptop
    2.use batteries to charge laptop
    3. …
    4. Profit??

    • I'd like to see a laptop be charged by AA batteries. Battery life? Nil.

The Laws of Thermodynamics called. They want your perpetual charging machine destroyed.

    • I laughed when imagining this in 4 panel format while reading. Thanks.

      1. Buy USB AA charger
      2. charge some batteries from my laptop
      3. use batteries to charge laptop
      4. Unlimited recharges > coolface.ddl.mkv.7z
    • Not that it's not funny but it should read

1.charge some batteries from my laptop
      2.use batteries to charge laptop
      3. ????
      4. Profit!!!

Also I think it would be better suited to be this

      Charge Battery via Laptop
      Charge Laptop via Battery

      • problem 2nd law of Thermodynamics?

since Relativity is now under question according to the articles over the weekend, surely the laws of thermodynamics might need to be scrutinised a bit…

  • Real photographers use Li-ion batteries ;)

Doesn't appear to be $0.99 - the link provided says $2.10 or 2 for $3.99

Mains would definitely be faster to charge batteries. Most USB ports only output 5V/500mA.

    • +1. Went to buy, more than double the listed price.
$2.10 delivered is still cheap, but it goes from being "buy 5 of them for $5 and leave them at work etc" to "meh".

Sorry forgot to add the coupon code, it is MLCK9H24NL1

  • I bought a similar one from Aldi sometime back when they remaindered it to $3. Don't expect to charge high capacity NiMH cells quickly on this thing. It's ok if you just need to boost your cells while at work, or take it travelling to charge cells overnight, in conjunction with a universal USB 5V wall wart (another cheapie item). In fact the phone chargers which have standardised on USB 5V can supply power for this.

  • apart from being a very slow charger(particularly with high capacity cells) it's a dumb charger too so i wouldn't do full charges with it, top up charging is fine

    • It's good for charging, say, low capacity batteries for your mice, remotes, and other low end stuff.
It's definitely something good to keep with you in case your notebook mice runs dry and needs a quick charge, but it ain't something photographers would want in their gear.
