          Rather sell to Costco because everyone who gets one knows it's probably a clearance and not indicative of regular price. If they discount this much through Myer/DJs/whatever perverse retailers sell this stuff, then they have trouble selling their gear at full price next season

    burberry website ($3k product) shows this is 100% cotton, whereas costco (sub $1k) shows 100% polyester. same item??

      My god imagine posting $1000 for polyester that has no special qualities.

      I can literally get a hand made custom down jacket from Poland for <$1000.
      And the craftsmanship will be equally high.

    This isn't the Classic Trench, which retails for $3,000, as the Classic is made of the original cotton garbadine. This is the Taffeta Trench which is made of polyester and retails for just under $1,600. Same style but different quality, so it isn't the mind-blowing deal it would be if it were the Classic but it's still a great discount if you're happy with the Taffeta.

        The Taffeta Trench is euphemistically described as "imported" on the website which means it was made somewhere in Asia. The Heritage Trench is now virtually the only item still made in England and they make a point of that fact in their advertising, another reason it's nearly double the price.
