"Cashback is calculated on the amount paid after the use of any Groupon credit"
This makes no sense and is totally unreasonable. I only have Groupon credit because they would not refund for vouches that I could not redeem due to restaurants closing. I paid for the original Groupons with my own cash, so why should using my credit now make me ineligible for Cashrewards?

Mod: Edited. Soliciting votes is not allowed.

I agree and will no longer support Groupon when my credits are used up. I will also no longer support/use Cashrewards if they continue to let Groupon make this a condition.

    • I think your neg is more based towards Groupon rather than CR isn't it? CR is forced by the merchant to have that condition (to get paid commission) from what I understand, SB has an identical condition..

Cashback is calculated after the usage of Groupon credit & excludes taxes, fees or additional charges

No my neg is aimed at both no one has forced Cashrewards to accept and promote Groupons conditions.

        • no one has forced Cashrewards to accept and promote Groupons conditions.

Well Groupon has, and if CR didn't accept it, they wouldn't get any commission I'd imagine, giving us nothing either? Bit harsh to neg a middle man for the requirement by the initial merchant, if you don't like the condition then vote with your wallet and don't shop at Groupon.. But can't see how this one condition would turn you off CR completely.

@doweyy: Better still is to just use up my credit and send both to Coventry no great loss can usually get the same meal deal's by negotiating with the individual businesses anyhow.

@coin saver - See my comment here.

    • Wait a minute. So you are trying to double dip? You should get the cashback upon your initial purchase which has changed to store credit and you want to use the same credit to get further cashback?

The original transaction is invalid with 15% cashback, then Groupon refund as a voucher and now cant reuse the credit to get cashback that I suppose to earn.

So everyone is losing money and Groupon is the one who pocketed it.

Neg is for Cashrewards and Groupon , not for OP

    • +1

Agreed, neg is only for Cashrewards, apologies to OP, no disrespect as I would normally upvote this deal, but that condition about Groupon credit should not be there.

      • neg is only for Cashrewards… that condition about Groupon credit should not be there.

All cashback partners have this condition (check and you'll see it's there). It's nothing to do with Cashrewards. Either we have the conditions listed as legally required by Groupon, or we don't have Groupon as a cashback partner. The exclusion was added 05/05/2020.

Sometimes it's like blaming the contractors who built the road for the speed limit enforced by the government.

          • @Clear: While the driver get caught, but then who is the driver ? LoL

As per above, have also been forced by Groupon to accept credit thus future purchase has to made with those and will not be valid for the CashRewards Cashback.
At this stage - as per others above - once credits are used have no plans to deal with this vendor (Groupon) again.

In terms of the -ve vote and voting guidelines, I'm viewing Groupon as the vendor in question and not Cash Rewards (whom have no issue with).

So what the great buys if you are getting the double stacked deal ?

  • Don't like doing the work of looking but my advice is there is some great deal in food but make sure you can pickup .
Restaurants there might still be problems eating in with limits .

I gotta agree on this credit issue, ITs the exact same scenario i have come across multiple times now with Groupon and cashback. I can understand if you change your mind but if the restaurant stops supporting the vouchers (as has happened to me many times) and the only option is a credit which means no cashback then its really unfair and frankly is almost like a bait and switch as i would never have made the same purchase if i knew i wasnt going to get the cashback discount.
