More new products from TechFast, with two new Budget Ryzen 3 processors. Lots of reviews say R3-3300X is the new budget king CPU, beating i7 7700K, while R3-3100 is about the same as the R5-1600 AF.

Both systems are base spec - A320MB, 8GB 2666MHz RAM, 120GB SSD, 550W PSU, Leaper Mid Case. You can choose either RX 570 or GTX 1650 4GB for same price in the R3-3100 system.

Enjoy :)

    • There's a YouTube video (can't look it up right now) that compares 1600af, 3100, 3300x with a normal GPU (not a 2080ti, but something realistic). Maybe by Paul's Hardware? I can't remember.

Basically, framerates were identical with 3100, and maybe 5% better with 3300x.

In which case 1600AF is still King!

Ryzen 3 3300X is not even out yet but deal is already advertised without this note. Are you trying to mislead your customers by promoting CPU that isn't even out yet in Australian market? I wonder how long will these customers have to wait for their PC with 3300X equipped.

Question for any previous buyers that got the B350M biostar motherboard, I’ve just upgraded to XMP 3200mhz ram & it’s a little unstable, currently tweaking it.

Has anyone else run into this problem with the Biostar M.2 B350m?

    • This guy did - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/8686910/redir

Or if you didn't cheap out and upgraded to the X570 you wouldn't have had this problem, oh wait - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/8711080/redir

Some people have suggested you stop complaining - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/8716379/redir

      • Still very happy with the price/performance I received!

If a motherboard upgrade is what’s needed then so be it & I’m happy to do that!

Some interesting reads through those threads 😂

        • Yeah whilst probably unrelated, it speaks to the quality of the biostar board but if you're happy with it good luck with your problem.

Use the Ryzen DRAM memory calculator to calculate SAFE timings for you RAM, see the guide on Hardware Unbox video
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOqhyVNPhaM

but Instead of reading the XMP in Dram Calculator, I suggest to export the complete HTML Report with latency in nanoseconds from Thaiphoon Burner and import that to Dram Calculator, as the XMP reading is often not correct. see YT comments

I personally could not get high speed memory working that well on B350 motherboards, on both Ryzen 1000 and 3000 CPU. Instability issues would arise at 3000mhz or more. Try decreasing the memory speed from 3200mhz to 2933mhz and run some Memtest overnight to check stability.

        Mate,
Thank you for taking the time to respond to this.. fantastic response.

First try, XMP profile Activated RAM running @ 3200MHZ, System hangs & restarts - MEMTEST would not pass test 5 without restarting.

Second try, XMP profile activated, RAM running @ 3200MHZ, upped voltage to 1.5, still restart issues during MEMTEST & RARELY during PC use.

Third try, I’ve re-seated the RAM, ran MEMTEST with XMP changed to auto - 0 errors, running 16GB @ circa 2444MHZ (or around that)

Current & fourth try, retrying MEMTEST with XMP on to see if the re-seat resolved the problem. XMP, 3200MHZ causes memtest restarts & system hangs.

Will update with further attempts & potentially a resolution.

(I have attempted to try one 8GB stick at a time, no difference)

Sorry for the spam, looks like I’ve resolved the issues with @scrimshaws help, changed all the timing to match the steps in the aforementioned software, bumped the voltage to 1.44 & have currently run 2 full MEMTESTS to completion @ 3200MHZ.

          thank you!!

      • Just checked - no C die option in the Dram calculator.. i've got "Die Density / Count 8 Gb C-die (Alius / 18 nm) / 1 die"

        I assume out of luck?

        • Hynix or Samsung C-die?

          • @Void: Ran the test Hynix with "D" In the name after some googling

Working fine, albeit I did down-clock to 2933MHZ as I ran memtest again and the PC restarted on the 4th Test.. so whilst it would probably be okay, i wanted it to be perfect.

Will invest in a new motherboard in the future… happy with 2933MHZ ATM and i'm not pushing for absolute peak on all components

            • @mthwstwrt: Yeah I got my Samsung C-die to 3333CL16 at 1.356V. Because it's built on the 10nm process it is less tolerant to voltage and negatively scales above 1.4V. Did this with the Biostar board, what voltage are you at?

    • Nope. I'm at 3333 no problems with the Biostar.

      • Is yours the b45m2? Which ram did you get?

Mind uploading a pic of your settings and timings?

        Thanks in advance

  • I'm after paying this much for a PC, is this a good deal for the price?

    • +3

For this period, yes. Current pcs are inflated in price. It'll probably take till next year before prices normalise, if you can't wait, you might not find much better.

      • Thank you! Very tempted. Would like to upgrade the ram though, not really going to game on it much more for cad software.

        • +1

Don't select the upgrade from them, their base prices are great but the upgrades bring it back down to earth, upgrade the RAM yourself for much cheaper.

  • What's the upgradability like with a system like this? Could I stick a faster CPU and GPU in there a few years down the track and turn it into the equivalent "budget" machine for that future point in time?

    • +1

The A320 boards aren't gonna be good for the new CPU, I recommend upgrading it. As for GPU that'll be an easy upgrade.

    • +1

You're going to be stuck with Ryzen 3000 series because AMD just dropped a bombshell on us — older motherboard chipsets (300series, 400 series) aren't going to support Ryzen 4000.

In a few years from now if you want to drop a new CPU in you're going to upgrade the motherboard but I think it's worth waiting for AMD to move to the next AM5 socket. I'd personally skip the Ryzen 4000 series.

Man my i7-3770, the best CPU I have ever bought. 8 years on….$350 when released. What a beast it has been. I will wait for Zen 4 and AM5 2021. Make it close to 10 years.

  • Decided to commit to the 3300x/1660 - Luke pls don't fail me now 😘
Will report back how it goes.

    • Nice! I have already ordered a PC from Luke before and he didn't fail me.

Now I am awaiting my beast 2080 system to come

  • PC noob here. Is the 3300x/1660 good enough to run my 34 ultrawide 1440p monitor while playing Cs go and dota?

  • Is the gtx 1650 the "super" edition?

Or would that be more $.
