Jetstar O/W Domestic: SYD <> MEL (AVV) $34, SYD <> Gcoast $55, MEL <> ADL $41 and Many More [Oct-Dec] @ BeatThatFlight

920

Jetstar has started a ticket sale for flights from Oct-Dec (roughly). I've gone through all dates for a few city pairs below - but there are a LOT more, it just takes time to do each one!
Flights on sale include to/from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Cairns ,Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth and more!

Jetstar is a Low Cost Carrier, so no checked bags are included in this one/way price.

Remember of course, while Covid cases are decreasing, that's no guarantee that that will continue, or that states will allow interstate travel at that time. Be sure to check your travel terms and conditions.

  • Sorry I couldn't make it out but…dates?

    • In the title - Oct to Dec, mostly. Some around earlier 2021 too, but I've only checked Oct-Dec.

  • +11

The boss of qantas promised cheap flights from Perth to the eastern states. If anything they have gone up. AND this is on jetstar.

    • +5

      He sure did.

And everyone knows that when a single business has a monopoly on a particular market prices go down and they act with the consumer in mind.

Welcome to air travel in a country with a single carrier.

    • +3

      No he didn't.

The media took a fragment of an answer where he was spit balling off the record to a journalist, which than got spun into "Alan Joyce is personally promising $19 flights to every single Australian where he will also personally serve them coffee and drinks throughout the flight"

      • +1

Yep and from the above it's very difficult to work out the flights he's serving tea and coffee on.

On a more serious note, the PER-MEL and PER-SYD prices are truly uninspiring in this sale. Lowest is $179 before baggage with some over $300.

      • +1

Hahaha he would be the last person I'd want to serve me a coffee. Smug $#@%$&!

    • Kinda funny Qantas is cheaper than Jetstar for Perth atm.

  • Remember of course, while Covid cases are decreasing, that's no guarantee that that will continue, or that states will allow interstate travel at that time. Be sure to check your travel terms and conditions.

Why not just say non refundable?

    • +15

because airlines have been changing terms almost monthly in the news, so just being safe.

  • +2

Good work op.. hopefully we can all start flying domestically in the next month or two without any border restrictions.

  • +14

say no to non refundable Jetstar tickets )

  • +1

i wonder what safety measures is in place? hopefully less cramped

    • You can't expect to have cheap fares and then have the middle seat free. It will just end up like VA in VA.

      • Well that's not up to the airline but the government if the middle seat has to remain free.
But yes, having a middle seat free will definitely put prices up over the long term. They'll only offer cheap fares in the very early stages of travel just to get bums on seats, but it's not feasible to offer cheap tickets if they are forced to keep the middle seat vacant.

    • +1

Nah, Alan J pointed out that all the Intl rescue flight didn't have middle free, but no one got infected on the flight…. he's pushing for exemption on the rules. Which is fair enough (aircraft have good air filtering). A lot of people are flying in groups anyway.

Even in the early days very few, if any, caught the virus on the plane. If you're mot showing symptoms, then the chances of spreading is pretty low (as demonstrated by those in force/self quarantine have shown)

      • +7

not with this ninja virus some are asymptomatic, how can they make sure? u cant, still high risk

      • +1

        Aircraft have good air filtering.

        Source ?

      • +4

Air filtering isn't going to save you if the person sitting next to you is snotting up some Covid - the air doesn't go through filters to move the <2 feet from their face to yours, nor from contact transmission from handling common seat dividers then your face, etc.

Sure they have air filtering but there was also a lot of super cautious people mostly wearing masks on that rescue flight… and statistically with many people who were already travelling together sitting beside each other, that wouldn't have increased their chances of infection given they were already exposed to the person beside them - in other words, I think it would be okay for people travelling together elsewhere / same family to all sit in a row but no one else whilst we are still in social distancing mode.

I've got sick after taking flights sitting next to a sick person more than once in the past.

      • +1

"in the early days" no one was being tested. Bit naive to make these statements, especially about symptoms, when every health official has stated otherwise. People on rescue flights wore masks and contact tracers requested everyone around an infected person on a flight to isolate. Quite a few studies have now shown that hvac circulating air inside pushes the virus down and up stream from an infected individual. Air filtering won't help.

  • +12

+1 for the detailed post. I like how all the options within the time range are given and easy to read.

    • Yep, amazing.

  • -1

Anyone have a rough idea as to when international flights are expected to resume?

    • +2

Yep, soon after a vaccine is commonly available :-)

      • Yep that is why Fauci 'skip' the safety test and fast track it.

      • Lol. That's going to be a while, for us anyway. We're low down in the pecking order for a vaccine. The US will start jabbing 1 million arms in September.

      • -4

I always love when someone puts an emoticon when confident, even though the answer is hilariously wrong.

    • +2

I so would like to know this too. I really hope to be able to fly by end of this year though I'm feeling pessimistic about it.

  • +2

Not sure about booking flights given current circumstances, especially depends on refund policy, but +1 from me for effort OP.

    • +1

Heaps of people have Jetstar vouchers. Not a big deal if flights are cancelled and your voucher turns into another voucher.

  • +3

Once again, no love for the nation's capital :-(

    • +4

Well look who you guys hang out with!

    • -2

      Sydney?

    • +2

Yup. And don't expect to see Jetstar flying to Canberra anytime soon. Their only competition is Qantas - why compete against yourself? Why not just force everyone to pay uncle Alan's extortionate prices?

  • +1

    Yeah, Nah!

  • Wish Sydney to Proserpine in November would drop a little!

  • +2

    Unsecured creditor

  • +5

My boss said because of Corona we have realised that we can trust people to work remotely and we can save a lot of travel expenses by "not" emphasizing people meet face to face.

Guess he didn't count on the fact that we were only working hard cuz we were scared to lose our jobs. With Corona out of the way who knows….

    • +1

this is probably true - I've noticed so many people are working harder right now and keeping track of everything they do offsite

    • which industry do you work in?

  • +1

Does anyone actually use Avalon airport?

    • +2

      Yes, it's bloody awesome.

      • I hated it wen they only had one queue for all arrivals. Since they split it up between Australian residents and all others, its far more bearable.

    • +1

Of course! Much easier than Tulla!

  • I think they're going to struggle to keep the borders closed that long. There'll be to much economic pressure if everything goes well.

  • +1

Come in suckers! I am quite sure that you won't get your money back if they cancel.

  • Just tried with few random dates, Perth - Syd (or Mel) seems to be around $450.

  • All links I click show a higher price than quoted in the OP.

  • Does the ticket price include hazmat suits?

  • +1

They will not refund but give you "travel credit". Not worth the hassle..
