This is a great price for a top notch Soundbar as refurbished ones are selling for $800 on the Bose website. Buyers MIGHT be able to get a further $10 off if they download the Amazon mobile app and use the code APPONLY10.
Note the Bose Soundbar 500 sells for $795 so for a small difference you're getting the top of the range Soundbar.

For those wanting to price match, Bose stores (those which are open) will price match because Amazon is an authorised Bose dealer. Harvey Norman won't price match in store but will online via the chat function. Just ask and show them the link. You can select store pick up.

JBHF will give you the run around but just say that Harvey will price match (show them the online quote. They must price match Harvey Norman) or tell them; 1) even if it is a grey import the Amazon warranty is the same; 2) you went to the Bose store and the rep there said it wasn't a grey import; 3) Grey import products are sold by Amazon US and that disclaimers are made about it. This is sold by Amazon AU and so are subject to the same statutory consumer warranty for all electronics sold in Australia so there is no difference even if they claim there is!; 4) Bose's 12 month warranty is GLOBAL. JBHF just don't want to price match because it's an awesome price.

    not even cheap … sorry

    • $999 at Myer. $1199 at JB.

      • Anyone know if Myer will price match Amazon?

I had this for a month. For the price it is a really weak soundbar. You absolutely need the subwoofer with it. It's the shortest time I've ever owned a piece of tech. I sold it and replaced it with the Samsung combo, which blows this away. The only benefit of this Bose is that it's slimline so it fits below TVs better than most.

    • which Samsung combo did you go with?

  • +4

I own this sound bar , and yes you do need the matching subwoofer to get the best possible sound , but that's true for every other sound bar on the market , without a sub they won't sound as good as if you have a sound bar just on it's own.
It's essential with this with this sound bar to run the ADAPTiQ audio calibration microphone thats included , so the sound is tuned to your room , if you do that the sound bar with the sub sounds fantastic.

      Amen to that.

Can't compare a bar and sub combo to a bar only.

Pair this with the sub and it's blows the Samsung combo easily.

I love mine, after having the 750 Atmos Samsung and also the q90r. Both I returned/sold for the Bose 700. Now I have 2.

      • Interesting comment for me as I’ve been considering Bose 500 v 700 v Q90R for the Atmos etc.

Do you miss the Atmos at all? What size room do you have it in? Would love to know more about what swayed you to Bose 700 over Samsung. A lot of people are commenting that I would be paying for the brand with Bose, but most comparison reviews I’ve read compare Bose with B&O & Sonos and separately Samsung with Sony etc.

Personally I didn't consider an Atmos sound bar , as I'm not convinced that a couple of tiny tea cup sized speakers firing upwards on a sound bar can create realistic sound effects coming from above.
Possibly a way of the manufacturers adding a perceived benefit to sell more units , just like they did when they tried to sell us the idea that 3D TV's were a good idea.

After having the Samsung Atmos units x2, even after the latest update. I felt the rears and sub were so underwhelming.

The Bose clarity and lows are epic, and the rears and sensational.

The connectivity, remote, Alexa and Google assist, the bios quaility, the size and sleek look all trump th Samsung.

          The Atmos (meh).

I have 1 Bose in a large open living and a second in a 3x3.5m room.

          It goes LOUD and clear.

Does everything we can hear as humans perfect.

  • How long do limited time deals on Amazon usually last? My plan was to go listen to soundbars tomorrow and this was one of my main contenders.

  • wasnt this like under $800 in the past ?

      New for sure.

Why buy it with the potential to have marks/scratches?

I'm looking for a white soundbar.
Anyone know how does the bose 700 stack up against the cheaper sonos beam?

  • Ok… so i am confused.. the amazon page states this does not come with AC adapter… is this a mistake??

    "Includes AC Adapter No"

    • It comes with AC plug

      • thanks, yea i figured it was a misprint.

I first got the Bose 500 sound bar with matching 500 bass module. It was very good with dialogue in the centre channel and ok with movie effects but a little small/weak for my large room.

Upgraded to the 700 which is much better - great centre channel for dialogue and L/R channels as well as rear sub outlets make a great sound field in mid size room. The 500 bass module works with the 700 sound bar no issue (these sound bars must have a sub - little bottom end without it). I also got the rear wireless speakers so I've got very good 5.1 sound in slim sleek design which is what the financial controller likes.

Yes you are paying for the brand but the sound experience is top notch in a stylish package.

The negatives are a single HDMI port, no Atmos and a glass top which some people complain about reflecting from the TV (doesn't affect me as sound bar is slightly raised above my eye level). Atmos doesn't bother me as most of my viewing is streaming, PVR FTA and UHD discs (not many have Atmos).

Don't forget Amazon has 30 day returns in case you don't like it - one of the great features of buying expensive electronics sight unseen.

    • Absolute facts.

And that in hi-fi won't price match as it's under cost for them.

      • Harvey will price match online ex delivery. Can choose pickup.
Bose stores will price match as Amazon are an authorized dealer.
Got the run around from JBHF today. They wrongly state that the product is a grey import but it’s not because it has a one year Australia warranty.

        • Harveys wouldn't do it either.

Just ordered it from Amazon as I had $10 off voucher.

Harvey Norman Frankston priced matched. Loverly sales person told me they will beat all amazon prices. JB HIFI frankston wouldn't price match & were very rude to me.

  • Hi all
JB price matched but out of stock.
HN won't price match with Amazon as they are out of stock.
Any ideas when more stock will come?
    Thanks

    • Not sure when they'll be back in stock. White one is still available. Best price for the black one is currently $945. Something worth considering is that Bose will likely come out with a new soundbar soon as the last product (soundtouch 300) had a cycle life of about 2 years. The Soundbar 700 was released in late 2018 so it's coming up to its cycle end. If that's the case, it will remain in sale for the foreseeable future so it's a waiting game.

  • Looks like it's back in stock. However price for the surround speakers (black ones) have gone up.

    • Thanks for that just noticed it too. Lucky for me JB also received my order and I picked it up yesterday :)

  • Have been reading about issues with Bose 700 losing HDMI ARC connection - has anyone experienced this?

    • +1

I haven't had that issue but I guess it depend on the TV you have since the signal comes from your TV? Older tvs might have an issue but if you have a newish TV it shouldn't be a problem.

about to pull the trigger on this, thanks mate. it's on sale in lots of places for $999 but this is great. Bose Solo 5 is also cheap. $259.
