I dont know what that particular employee did but we weren't initially sure what was happening. He could have been confused, I guess that would make him a loser in your book.
Because too many times on these type of promotions at 7-11, sometimes do make life difficult for those claiming the freebies. Take my personal experience, where the spider slurpee was clearly listed as free, but the shop attendant refused citing that it was only the spider, and that I had to pay for the slurpee.
I have never once refused a customer asking for an app offer. You should report your regular store to 7 eleven customer support (1800 247 711) if they are refusing to honor the deal.

Will 7-Eleven compensate? The last time they gave a free coffee due to a promotion that got sold out too early. Even I am not able to open the App. Will the offer duration be extended?

As expected from the checkout, "all sold out".. Yea right, at 8am in the morning… Surely.
Filled up with the cheapest fuel around (surprising for 7-eleven!!) and got a free coffee and free banana bread which the kids enjoyed.
They kept them behind the counter, but when you go to pay for $60 of fuel they happily hand it over.wait, what? they hid the banana bread behind the counter?
