EKO VT-380 Cream - Electric Guitar $179 @ The School Locker

40

Not trying to promote this product, seemingly a telecaster copy, cheaper than Bullet telecasters.
Would be good for mods.
There were a few vids on youtube, I thought it was okay for the price.
Flag me if I am wrong.
thanks

  • Some of the product pics are of a Strat copy, do you just get a random selection? Their listing on eBay is the same.

    • Oh really, sorry, didn't check that

  • what sort of mods do people do to these?

    • Change of Pickups, tuners.

      • can those be had for cheap, is DIY possible for a noob?

        • +1

pickups require soldering, but nothing precise, its almost more like welding lol, tuners you just need a screwdriver.

they can be had relatively cheap (compared to top of the line stuff), but at some point there's going to be no point in upgrading. To be honest this uitar seems so cheap I'd be concerned about it being worth upgrading in the first place.

forge celebrity guitarist signatures on the guitar and sell on gumtree ….

I've seen people put fender water decals on these cheap guitars and sell them for hundreds more. More so on squire strats.

        • I've worked on so many guitars, and customised them for my own purposes.. Telecasters are one of the easiest, and to be honest if the neck is straight and positioned correctly, the frets have been leveled and dressed, and the nut cut correctly (requires tools) they will stay fairly well in tune even with the cheap machine heads.. The one thing that tends to require replacement more than anything is the pickups, although a cheap option I have done in the past is to remove the cheap ceramic magnet from the underside of the pickups and replace the pole pieces inside with some cylindrical neodymium magnets from ebay.. Otherwise alnico tele pickups can be quite expensive (considering the guitar price at $50-60 and upwards)… Tempting just because of the EKO branding - i've never owned an EKO - Originally an Italian brand which had some popularity in Europe - i'm assuming these are Chinese made clones…

  • Cream shaboogie bop.

Look up in the air - it's your guitar!

  • Care to link to the mods on YouTube? You got me interested

    • Its just changing the pickups and stuff, not like some massive conversion to an 8 string monster or anything.

  • if you look around, you can get a little cheaper and better.

    • where?

Also Keep an eye out for a customer returned guitars on the 'Artist guitars' site. That's where I bought my Jazzmaster clone for $160. Heaps bang for buck. Left the stock pickups in but upgraded the tremolo. Might go pickups next but I'm happy with them atm.

        • How do you get it for $160?

          • @Yaren24: Kept watching the clearance until one came up. You may want to send them an email to see if they have anything coming up.

            • @nuno: I thought they are $250, Idk how you get it for $160… Is it a demo model?

            • @nuno: Did you get it the 20% cashback?
