[NO DEAL at this stage] Four Sisters Wine offer will not be honoured (as it was)

812

Mod Update 2 — Discussion continues here.

Mod Update 1 - WARNING

There is no deal here, now

Four sisters wine is not honouring what was previously stated.

Liking their page + registering your details only gets you a reminder to go back to their site again and see if you are one of the first (unspecified) people to get there (as vouchers are limited)

It also gets your agreement to have their app on Facebook and among other things, let them impersonate you on you Facebook wall.

This post is being kept to update those who Liked under the previous offer and in case either Four Sisters Wine or the promotions company who were involved, make moves to honour what they promised.

Following is what the OP (actually a Rep) posted on OzBargain

Message on the Four Sisters Wine page:

http://www.facebook.com/foursisterswine

We're offering our Facebook friends the chance to sample our new family fabourite.

Simply like our page, print your coupon and redeem your free bottle at participating Dan Muyrphy's stores - it's that simple.

Hurry - we only have a limited number of samples to give away.

Mod: Added rep tag as OP is affiliated with the company (app maker).

So wait, you found this on Facebook today or your offering it on Facebook today?

Because one implies that you have nothing to do with the company offering the deal and the other implies that you are from the company offering the deal.

    Also, Four Sister Swine. Heh.

  • +2

liked page but i see no coupon anywhere?

    • +1

I don't see any coupon either.

  • +2

I 'liked' the page, but i cant find a coupon anywhere

  • +1

Free bottle huh? Any wine in the bottle? :)

  • Did you read the NEWS FLASH!!!

I just saw it. Maybe Facebook is palying up

    • +3

NEWS FLASH… Want to sample our new Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc - we'll be releasing details in the coming days on how our Aussie friends can get a free sample through our FB page… intrigued?? Then watch this space - all will soon be revealed!!!

It has to be a confirmed deal, otherwise this is best suited for the forums to keep an eye on

  • +1

"we'll be releasing details in the coming days" - well then.

  • -4

They said you could get the Free BOTTLE at the Dan Murphy's

  • wthell, no free bottle.

  • +3

Ok Can someone clear it out… One part of the post says PRINT THE COUPON (which I cant find after liking, but anyways) and get the Bottle from Dan Murphy AND another part of the post says hurry limited samples available. Can both statements go together?

    • If it's a small sample bottle..yeah

      • -5

Going by the image on their FB page, it seems to be a regular size. I will know when I claim my bottle at Dan Murphy's. It better be a regular bottle.

        • How would you not know if you are the REP?

  • -8

I think we need to check back in. Check back tomorrow. Because Facebook is implementing new feature called Timeline

    • Now you made it hard on yourself, what if someone else beats you to posting the deal?!

  • +2

Bargainhunter23, Let me see if I can understand what happened. Did Foursisters put up a post on their FB page stating that they would be offering a bottle of wine for free at Dan Murphy's? But now they have removed the post?

    • -1

I had the chance to register and the page dis appeared after I posted here. The copy was from the page I interacted.

I sent email and received a response. And now updated the description

    • +1

Nope, Facebook itself is struggling to implement new functions and fighting back to consumer representatives regarding misleading privacy protection.

Looks they are playing around with the page. It now has a welcome section, https://www.facebook.com/foursisterswine?sk=app_190322544333…, where you can like the page for the coupon.

    Screenshot

    • +2

This exactly what I saw… Thank you neil to make me not look like a fool.

      • +1

        It's now called Free bottle.

Bargainhunter23, you should have mentioned that your company is building this app thus you should be checked as a rep for this deal.

  • +4

Once you register (http://apps.facebook.com/foursisterswine/) you get to a page that says: "You are in our priority list for a FREE bottle. Please visit our Facebook Page on or after 13th October 2011 to receive the coupon which can be redeemed at select Dan Murphy's."

  • +2

    works now

    • I am glad it is working for others too.

  • +1

ok after quite a few tries, i got it to work. How do i go about removing the the neg?

    • Go to votes, find yours and hit revoke.

  • +3

The page you requested was not found.
You may have clicked an expired link or mistyped the address. Some web addresses are case sensitive.

  • Got it!
I had the "can't find page" message, but just go back to it.
Maybe something about cookies or what have you.

  • +2

Page name was changed to ABCD by some guy. This is getting strange.

  • +2

Four Sisters Wines > Like = Register Page. Click on Register > ABCD foods > Like = Register Page. Like them and a page with facbook logo. Bollocks! Waste of time.

    • Click the logo to register.

      • Tried that, but the registration failed every time.

  • +1

GUYS, better u remove the apps, check this person http://upload.ozbargain.com/2011/10/02/6825_warning.jpg

    • did anyone know whos is Parikshit Khandelwal that changed the foursister page to be ABCD? this is SCAM guys!!!!!

    • lol

    • +2

joanna, Four Sisters has hired a company called Additude to create their app or market their product through social networks. http://additude.com.au/ It seems they have done similar apps/promotions for Fosters.

If you check the whois for foursisterssauvignonblanc.com.au:

      Registrant FOUR SISTERS PTY LTD
      Eligibility Type Company
      Eligibility ID ABN 38069621003
      Registrant Contact ID SARE1118
      Registrant Contact Name Rebecca Santolin
      Registrant Contact Email [email protected]

Don't think it's a scam but I think they have jumped the gun, in promoting this app before it has finished. The OP is an employee of the company, so maybe he can explain further.

      • +3

And neil would just like to point out that ozbargain and neil personally are liable for any losses by members from potential scams associated with this deal.

      • I think we should all email Rebecca Santolin and complain that her employees have been releasing rubbish posts on facebook while they're still fuddling around with the page.
I certainly wouldn't use this company if the best they can do is this half botched job of an app & dodgy English (a free wine bottle is quite different to a free bottle of wine…)
Also bad advertising for Four Sisters - email them too!

        • +1

Just FYI anyone who's still watching, I forgot but I did get an email back from them (no offer of a free bottle for 'keeping an eye out for them'…but at least they replied!)

          "Hi Sean,

Thank you so much for your email, we appreciate it!

We launched our landing page for the lead in to our sampling campaign last night and have had a few minor issues. However we were not aware of this online forum and the comment made, so thank you for bringing it to our attention.

We've spoken with our developer and asked them to stop any further blogging of this nature - you are right, it can be extremely damaging to a brand. Our aim is definitely not to mislead the public in any way. We have a genuine campaign that will launch at 12pm on the 13th October 2011, which will see us give away a nominated amount of vouchers that can be redeemed for a 750ml bottle of our Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc at participating Dan Murphy's stores during the stated period. As soon as all the bugs have been ironed out, we plan to make an official announcement on our FB page about the promotion.

We have an online advertising program running alongside this campaign, aimed to approach Facebook users through the proper channels and grow attention to our campaign organically, our aim is certainly not to mislead anyone.

Thank you again for your email, it's great to know we've got people like you keeping an eye this sort of thing for us.

          Kind Regards,

        Hi,

My name is KK. I work for Additude, a Social Media Agency running this campaign for Four Sisters. I applogise for any inconvenience caused during this morning on the Campaign page. Most of the issues stem from the unstable Facebook platform which is being updated with the new feature called 'Timeline'

The campaign is real. You need to register to receive a free bottle of Four Sisters Sparkling Sauvonign Blanc on or after 13th Oct 2011.

The registering will enable us to remind you to revisit and generate a coupon with your name on it. This coupon is necessary to redeem a bottle of Wine. Yes a bottle filled with WINE.

"Nothing better than a free BOTTLE"

    Filled with wine right?

  • Like 4sisters->click free bottle->register for free bottle->clicking takes to another page named 4sisters->Like tht page (different from the original one)->register for free bottle->allow access to app(:s)->(after many clicks and back and forth) first name last name email address and by default subscribe to updates->congratulations

This happened almost an hour ago..no email yet and after reading the comments above..something is fishy, i being really picky on small things but could they be stealing the identity info..

i have removed the app and unliked the page…cant trust them for now

  • +5

The op is deceptive and the rest is one of them fuster clucks.
Why do we need to read a page of posts from various people and even then the "deal" is hit and miss.
    Get rid of, start again.

    • +4

      yep, very shady at best.

  • +3

noting the OP affliation, could it just be to attract interest with an intentional dead page?

  • Something fishy here

  • +3

Clicking on the advertised link goes nowhere.

Either a scam or incompetent developer. Voting down.

  • thanks
After trying several times it worked for me. wait and see on 13 oct

  • +3

    A REP not declaring himself
Posting deal that is not active yet
    Sockpuppeting

    Why is this still here??

    • +1

IMO, 2 ways of deal with sockpuppeting.

Public name and shame, keeping the deal active.
      Remove deal, penalty box users.

Deal is active (I signed up last night) but just seems to be unstable.

      • +1

Quote from their FB rep. Deal is not active

        "Four Sisters Wine
Hi Stan, we rolled out the launch page last night and with Facebook rolling out their new features, we're having a few minor issues this morning. Once it's sorted, we'll be making an announcement on how the promotion will work, but basically it goes live in the pm on the 13th October 2011. By registering now, you're allowing us to email you on the day to remind you to come back to our page, enter your full details and claim your voucher. It doesn't reserve a voucher or give you a voucher now. So make sure you come back and visit us on the 13th. Cheers, FS"

        • Hi mediam0de,

did Four Sisters Wine email you?

I'm trying to understand it as I just saw this deal

… from what your email says, if Four Sisters has a limit on the number of vouchers that can be claimed … if someone registers today, there's no guarantee they'll get a voucher on the 13th Oct 2011 … :S

So … this is nothing more than getting someone onto a reminder list that they still do not have the voucher :S

        • +1

Yeah, it sounds like an ever changing promotion. The T&C weren't working when I registered so who knows what is going on.

foundit, What mediamode quoted is from here, https://www.facebook.com/foursisterswine?sk=wall

From what I can interpret, the registration is for the free wine. Once Oct 13 comes around, you will be sent an email to activate your offer. By the way, Additude = Bargainhunter. I appreciate the offer of a free bottle of wine, but it would be nice for you to give us an honest answer instead of PR statement. Better yet, you should not have posted until the app was fully finished.

        • +1

Nah, I just saw it on their FB Wall. It was a reply to another user that was confused.

On their FB, click on "Wall" link and it is the second post by Stan Mob Boucher

Apparently on their follow up post to Stan, they said they were in the process of changing the wording on how the free wine is given?

        • +1

It sounds conflicting. If you register, they say you've registered for the wine. But the Four Sisters Wine person, who I assume would be important on this, is of the impression if you register that no, you still do not have a voucher for the wine and you will not be receiving it by default.

You have to go back on the 13th October.

Now the thing is, the media company has been acting as an employee or agent of Four Sisters Wine, so what they say and published in that app on behalf of Four Sisters Wine, actually carries weight.

To get themselves out of this, they really need to:
          - get a list of people up to now, who've been promised the vouchers and move that list to a group they will send vouchers to
          - lock the app down immediately and make sure the wording etc is correct
          - fix up the wording here
          - then check everything is right bringing the app back up

        • Yeah… no idea who is actually providing the correct information at the moment.

I liked it to register but kept getting the error so I had a look on the wall and saw their rep posting, I immediately unlike it since the registration was merely for a reminder email to come back to get the coupon.. which I thought was dodgy.

Might be better to move this to the forums since this is not the actual coupon itself and their reps does not seem to be too upfront with this deal. Getting 1 to sockpuppet it and than come in as another to promote that it is legit :p

        • Their rep probably won't be forthcoming now. According to the Facebook page they've directed the promotions company to say nothing further, about the deal.

  • +1

looks like blatant sockpuppeting to me…

  • +1

Gees Four Sisters is a nice wine. This mess up is counter to good PR for them. Shame!

    • -2

Gees Four Sisters is a nice wine.

Four Sisters is a winery, not a wine…

  • thanks worked fine for me

    • Did you get an email back or just the message on screen saying

You have successfully registered for a FREE bottle of Four Sisters Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc.

      ?

      • +1

just the screen ,after reading above looks like it means a big fat zero!

  • Pfft, poster posed as an OP, while he was really a representative, though the way he worded the title instantly gave the game away. Looks far too fishy for me, and all other "free wine!" promotions have been full of crack.

    • I guess it looks weird now…my mouse missed the "-" button…xD

    • :P

Well, if you want, you can go to the votes and click on the grey button next to your name to retract your vote :P :)

      I'm afraid I can't switch your vote to negative though :P :)

  • A neg to the OP "I just received this e-mail" bla bla bla BS

  • Deceptive behaviour by the OP, who now turns out to be the REP and affiliated to the deal.

Liking the FB page doesn't do anything but register you for the offer. Sorry, too many dodgy and questionable practices to be worth even a bottle of wine.

EDIT: Doh! can't neg vote due to my previously removed comment. Oops! But you get the idea. :)

  • Scam

    Facebook Sampling Promotion

    6 October 2011 | General Interest

FREE BOTTLE OF SPARKLING SAUVIGNON BLANC ANYONE…?

Thursday the 13th October 2011 is the day we launch our Facebook Sampling Promotion. This is a first in the Australian wine industry and is being run with the sole aim of allowing our loyal Facebook friends the opportunity to sample a full 750ml bottle of our newly released Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc in the lead up to the Spring Racing/Christmas Festive season.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW…
…in order to redeem your free bottle of Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc

    1. This promotion is open to Australian residents 18 years and over (some regions in Australia will be exempt from this promotion due to Liquor Licensing Regulations and stock availability. A full list of exempt regions can be found below)

    2. The promotion begins on our Facebook page at 12pm on Thursday 13th October 2011.
Vouchers for free bottles will be available to the first 7,200 Four Sisters fans who apply on our Facebook platform after 12pm on Thursday 13th October 2011, and will remain available until all vouchers are claimed, or until 6pm on Sunday 23rd October – whichever comes first.

    3. Registration is now open on our Facebook page.
PLEASE NOTE: Registration DOES NOT reserve you a voucher. Its sole purpose is to capture your email address so we can send you a reminder to come back and visit us on the day of the launch. Registration is not mandatory – you are more than welcome just to come back and visit us on the day of the launch.

    4. There is a limit of one voucher per person.

    5. “Where do I go to claim my voucher once the promotion is live?"
You’ll need to “like” our Facebook page. If you are already a fan, there is a tab called “FREE Bottle” on the left hand side of our page, underneath our logo. Click on that and it will redirect you to our campaign. You will need to enter required details. A voucher will then be generated and available to print and redeem at participating Dan Murphy’s outlets.

    6. Some Dan Murphy’s stores may experience a large demand on bottles being claimed and may temporarily be out of stock. They will do their best to avoid this happening, however if it does happen they will endeavour to replenish stocks asap.

    7. Redemption of vouchers is at the sole discretion of Dan Murphy’s

    8. You must be aged 18 years or older to claim your free voucher. Photo ID and Proof of Age will be required when presenting your voucher at selected Dan Murphy’s stores.

    9. Regions exempt from this promotion include: Western Australia, Northern Territory, Tasmania and Far North Queensland. This is due to State Liquor regulations and stock availability
