Sure it's nice but I'm not seeing $3600 of value in this laptop?

Dual screen, 16GB RAM, high end descrete GPU, highend 9th gen CPU. Depends what value you put on the second screen I think - it definitely has value in some professional highend applciations.

IMHO it's ASUS getting desperate to the levels that LG did with smartphones and moving innovative ideas to production without giving due thought to whether anyone will buy it. They have lost so much ground to Dell, Lenovo, Apple, Microsoft and HP so in one way it makes sense. However, they should focus on making great laptops and finding ways for people to buy them. I can't believe that after all these years you still can't buy direct from them. It's so stupid.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. Asus has a solid line of zenbook laptops, and an amazingly valued ROG gaming line that sell well. While this wont be a huge market, i applaud them for using their success to innovate and try new things. I dont see this as a desperate attempt of a failing OEM, but R&D innovation to try and beat the market to the next big thing. With the mac touch bar, I see why they went this direction. If you'd never buy a Top of the line Macbook Pro, then this product is not targeted to you and thats okay.

        • You have to keep in mind that Asus makes a whole lots more devices and computer parts than laptops and even OEM for Google and the like.

How they decide to sell their products is obviously aligned to their distribution. Investing in a whole lot of store fronts and logistics is costly too and may suit one brand and not another.

          Each to their own.

  • If you wanted the dual screen you could get the cheaper zenbook duo option for just under $1500 but it doesn’t have specs as high

I have the Duo and the second screen barely gets used.

      • Yep, that's what I figure would happen. It's something nice to look at but not actually useful.

    • Isn't the cheaper duo option having less screen and the second screen is just a touchpad?

      • +1

The fact that the second screen isn’t used much is likely because you didn’t need it in the first place. And the non-pro is smaller and has a smaller second screen which can make it less useful.

I also have note seen the non pro duo for under 1500. I would have taken a serious look if it was at that price.

    2.5kg laptop.

  • Would be nice to have 10th gen's Spectre and Meltdown mitigations for this price.

Asus's designs are getting better and better.

    • Anything is better than their Zenbook UX3xx series and the hinge keeps breaking the case rendering them useless.

      • My 4 year old ASUS ZenBook UX303UB is still going. No issue with its hinge at all.

        • You're very lucky. I hardly use mine and broke about 18 months ago. It's a common problem so be aware:

          • @bchliu: I know of the issues with the hinge. Mine was suppose to be the rehash of ux303ua which was plagued with hinge issues.

  • At this price surely at least a 2070S? I understand laptops are priced far higher than desktops, but still..

    • People who buy this aren't buying it for gaming, its for productivity. And no common productivity app requires that kind of power except maybe highend CAD - but then you'd probably want specialised GPU for that anyway.

  • Thanks been looking for a cheap deal on this

For this price I'd want a 4K OLED display

  • I'm pretty sure this has an OLED display. I have seen it at JB and it was definitely OLED…also says OLED on ASUS' Spec page. The second screen is definitely LCD though.
Could be a typo on JB site?
