How are people using these? Every time I see them I think "that's cool" and then have no idea as to the practical usage

    • amblight behind and around your tv

    • It’s a light for children’s bedroom I guess

Streamers have them to liven up their setup. Many have perks within Twitch to be able to change the lighting and music, so this ties in perfectly for that.

I don't know much about Twitch, but please tell me perks are free and people aren't paying to change the background lighting of some guy they are watching play video games.

        • Most streamers would leverage the Twitch in-built Channel Point system. The main way to earn Channel Points is by watching, but you can earn them faster by subscribing for a set fee.

I have this in my room and never use my ceiling light as a result anymore, the amount of light they put off is pretty crazy. Also the morph LED mode is really just something else, the set up was a bit of a pain but once I got them up and running they really are more like a super impressive piece of wall art that functions really well.

The LIFX Tile gets pretty poor reviews vs the Nanoleaf Canvas. Apparently connectivity is very poor. A Reddit user goes into more detail here: https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeKit/comments/d144ry/lifx_tiles_…

    • I have both, canvas is better IMO. Set up with both was difficult and you certainly need to know the limitations for link up and designs possible (as the link between tiles are on specific parts of the block)

Partner has glasses and has commented that the glare/light strains the eye.

All in all, you need to buy an extension pack to make the beautiful designs you see promoted. It’s a pretty penny that may be best suited to other things. 3 months in and it lost the appeal for me

    • I am using Lifx Tiles form last 2 years, new app update fixed all the issues and I am super happy with it.

Useless product… I had it for 4 months and then regret and tried to undo and messed up with my new wall … So not recommended.

What is useless about it. They are lights. Buyer regret doesn't deserve a neg if on sale.

I have one right in front of me. https://imgur.com/a/mK7AOOG

Don't buy it, it's terrible to use. Very hard to install on the wall. I can't connect my Homekit for the first time, Disconnect frequently, and sometimes its disappear in my Homekit. I need to restore and set again.

  • None in stock in Adelaide Metro

    • Also none at Officeworks or JB HiFi

    • there was at mile end when i checked when this deal went up - probably sold out now though

If you're going to buy expensive LIFX lights, do so knowing that they refuse to deal with issues under ACL, and will simply stop all communication once they've told you you're out of luck.

    • It’s funny they don’t do acl, they claim this on their listing:

      Designed and engineered in Australia

      • My thoughts exactly! They'll just ghost you if you bother trying to get some fixed under ACL.

    • I've contacted them about a problem with an older LIFX light that was well out of warranty and they replaced it no questions asked, so mileage with their support may vary.

      • You're very lucky. Opposite of my experience, and others I've read online here.

  • can two of these kits be linked together?

  • Thanks OP.. successfully price matched with Officeworks via phone

    • Which officeworks did you call? If you don't mind me asking :)

  • I use mine as a feature wall/art piece. I haven't done anything too dramatic. But the music visualizers and fire place always looks good. I've got it automated using Samsung Smart things and also with my Harmony remote (its in my theatre room).

Didnt have any problem installing it on the wall… it uses 3m velcro to stick on, so I'm guessing the guy above has never picked up a tool in his life. Or potentially didn't bother reading the instructions on how to use 3m velcro.

Regarding Lifx and warranty… I havent had a faulty lifx product yet and own about 20. You are covered under ACL and your contract is with the retailer. So deal with Bunnigs/OW/Amazon to be safe.

Mine has also never dropped out, but I use a Orbi mesh system.
