TP-Link Deco M5-2P (2-Pack) AC1300 Mesh Wi-Fi System $199 Delivered @ PC Byte

Seems like a good price. Been reading that these have better hardware specs than the Tenda.

    Where were you yesterday?

    • Work. Big day. Where were you?

    • That was a 3 pack. This is a two pack. Different. I guess of you only needed 2 you could have saved a couple of dollars.

$13.04 for one extra unit makes perfect sense.

Mesh system just gives you a slow congested Wi-Fi network.
Just get a router with strong WiFi or add a wired Access Point.

    • I’ve got a house with Ethernet in each room and sonos wifi throughout, needs to be on same network and the back haul is there. Access point would be silly imo.

Access Point doesn't let you seemlessly roam between the points though. The device still has to disconnect and reconnect to the new access point wifi network. Mesh is treated as just one giant wifi connection. (I'm talking about having an ethernet backhaul. Wifi backhaul will suck if you don't have a dedicated channel)

Does Ethernet backhaul just mean Ethernet rubbing back to the router/switch?

    • Don’t know where you got this idea from, unless you’re referring to connecting to an access point that connects to your router’s wifi

  • It was only $20 more yesterday for a 3rd. I'm happy to just get 2 but would need to be much cheaper.

    $188 here

    Haha! Don't waste your money!

    • Why?

  • Is this better than Google Nest?

    • -1

From the point of view of losing your money because Google knows everything about your internal network yes.

Most people live in this delusional state where they agree that data collection works for extracting money but then they refuse to acknowledge that this includes them.

  • don't know much about these this may be a stupid question but are these extenders or if not what they do?

  • Can this improve my 2.4 GHz wifi keep the speed standard and not drop?
