      Yes.

    • How loud is the prism cooler under load?

      • +1

Ohh it is loud enough LOL - hating it every moment and considering switching back to the wraith spire cooler that came free with my 1600AF

      • mines not loud at all when being pushed with a 2600

      • It is loud….but but but RGBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB!

      • +1

Not too bad from my experience… If you really crank it, it gets a bit noisy, but realistic everyday usage is near-silent if you play with your fan settings. I could hear mine spooling up when exporting video from Premiere or benchmarking, but gaming/productivity use will see a Prism operate quite fine.

    • +1

i had this dilemma recently. my case, ram, mobo and all my case fans are all rgb. but i wanted the best air cooler i could get, i let common sense prevail, got a brown and beige noctua. and with all the lights on around it, it doesnt look anywhere near as bad as i thought it would. You could use a Phanteks Halo RGB fan shroud if it bothers you that much.
this video hear shows a guy using one in his build.

A good alternative is to get a be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU Cooler from Scorptec for $129. This trades blows with Noctua NH-D15.

P.S.: just checked Scorptec website. Price has increased to $139 and it is showing as out of stock.

    • +1

Or the D15S, I think it was posted by someone here around $100 on Newegg. Close in performance, much better clearance.

      • The u14s beats both if the cpu consumes less than 150watts and is more silent.

    • Yeah I also considered the Dark Rock Pro 4 as well. I think cooling is on par, the D15 may have a slight 1-2 degrees better perf (not important).
However what did it for me was a few of the youtubers saying the Noctua was easier to install.

      • +1

Yeah reviews tend to give a 1-2 degree advantage to D15 but the Dark Rock Pro 4 is more quiet by something like 1-2 dB. The difference is purely academic. For all intents and purposes, they perform the same.

While I can't vouch for how easy it is to install the D15, I can vouch for how hard it is to do the Dark Rock Pro 4!!!!

        • lol I suppose you only install it once so for majority of people a non-issue afterwards.
Have you taken it off an on? I imagine it would be troublesome.

          • @crunchynuts: Yeah not a huge issue as I haven't had the need to take it off yet.

Let's just say I don't look forward to it. The size really makes it pretty awkward.

    • The Dark Rock Pro 4 also looks better IMO, the big black plate makes it blend in better.

    • Another alternative is the discontinued Deepcool Assassin II, particularly good on ryzens. There still seems to be a bit of stock floating around for $100 or less.

  • -3

overpriced and new fans ain't that great

    • I got he NH D14 and I can say it is a great fan.
What makes the new ones bad if you dont mind me asking? Just asking to prepare for my next build.

  • +2

No poo Brown fans, no deal

    • Yeah no worries.

    • Ok

    • yanks make money mate by reselling stuff from china, repacking it, rebadging it - don't argue with the yanks cuz you'll be arrested or shot.. its funny how many whites are copping it in the protests

    • -2

Wake up, China now leads the world in manufacturing quality.

  • -3

TBH you may as well spend an extra $50 for an decent AIO water cooler.

    • +11

      Not really.

The DH15 competes with most decent AIO coolers, it's quieter, cheaper and no risk of a leak/pump dying.

If clearance isn't an issue then I'd always pick the DH15 over an AIO

      https://www.relaxedtech.com/reviews/noctua/nh-d15-versus-clo…

    • +1

Unless you overclock to the extreme or want to show off, you don’t need an aio.

    • -1

This is better than most if not all AIO water coolers.

    • Quieter I doubt very much if you setup a watercooler properly. Mine is on 10% fan speed until CPU hits 64c (which is max my m/b allows), during normal usage and gaming because of the latent cooling capacity of a water cooler it effectively never spins up. So I guarantee with the right config a water cooler is far superior for silent computing.

      • Is it the noise of the fans or the pumps which is louder on your water cooler setup?

        • +1

I can never hear the water pump even with my ear basically right on it. I have one of the older Corsair H110 280mm setups.

          https://www.corsair.com/ww/en/Categories/Products/Liquid-Coo…

        • +2

Problem with pumps is they tend to run higher RPM than fans and have higher pitched noise, so even if they are technically at the same/lower noise level, their noise is more penetrating and harder to block out/ignore.

          • +1

@Alzori: Not mine at least can't hear a thing and its rated somewhere around 35dba

            • @4foxache: 35dba is not silent though

              • @nfr: It's relative to the ambient sound of a normal room so for practical purposes it's silent.

                • @4foxache: I'm used to sub 20 but I have no doubt 35 is indeed practically silent for many people.

      • Many variables to consider but on higher end CPU's i.e 3900x with all threads loaded, liquid cooling had worse performance and was louder for me.

    • +1

      Please..

I was rocking the old D14 for months with nothing but the case fans cooling it, mind you that was on an oc'd ivybridge

I'd love to see any aio unit with that kind of redundancy

    • And, of course, you don't require garbage software to make the cooler work like all(?) AIOs.

  • +2

height is 165mm in case someone needs to know if it fit their case

  • No RGB, No Deal.

Jokes aside, i would pay tiny bit more for water cooler, plus you get the RGB (NZXT Kraken)

    • That's my logic, the deepcool castle 360 rgb v2 is $200, why would you pay $100 for Rgb fans only..
Having said that got a 3 pack of deepcool cf120 fans i was planning on run together but the mobo doesn't even have JRAINBOW/ARGB ffs

  • Get the normal D15 and save some money…

    • But that poo colour scheme…..

  • +1

A few local places selling for ~$185, wouldn't call it $250

    • Yep just rechecked about 200 including delivery - have updated thanks.

  • +1

Just realise it's such a giant. Most likely you will not be able to enjoy your RGB memories if you had this installed.

(bequiet pro4 in the photo, noctua nh-d15 is even larger)

    • It's the deal over, not coming up at that price

These tower coolers take up so much space.. will see how loud the wraith prism is

Wouldn't mind it as I was planning on an air cooled set-up 3700x and meshify C, would be quiet with two 140mm intakes on the front.. Noctua are still about $50 each now, got a quiet one 28 bucks back in the day.

Kind of get sucked into RGB fans, look alright but drive up the price of everything, ordered 3 pack of deepcool argb fans for $60, and was thinking the Deepcool Castle 240 V2 ARGB AIO to go with them (as front push setup instead of 2x140mm). Don't mind the look of RGB but could forget about it lol. Hard deciding and must stuff not in stock.

  • +1

    Black is so sleeeeeek

  • +2

    No ugly brown no deal!

  • -2

    For $160 I'd rather buy a 240mm AIO

    • +3

It will be louder and only cool two degrees better assuming you buy the highest perfroming AIO.

  • +2

Sweet. Without the usual colour scheme too.

  • +1

Having nh d15 with 3700x, stable at 65 degree for 4.4ghz all-core, best fan cooler.

  • +1

Noctua are the best, just hard to justify at $220 because it isn't twice as good as competitors, its quieter for the same cooling

$160 if I was building an Air cooled build to overclock, I think I'd pull the trigger, I want to right now but my current Aircooler is perfectly fine - damn you and your longevity saving me money!

  • +1

Ooh you can have black noctua now?

I remember when I did my build years ago everyone said they were great but only came in that awful awful brown colour, so I never even considered one.

Now I might for my next build!

  • Noctua fans tend to last a decade or more

    • variable that on speed and useage

  • -1

At this money aio water coolers blow it out of the water - fan criticisms of aio are bullshit- I always change the fans on mine - use the others as case fans at low revs. Always bottom mount though

I was an air cooler for decades long after aio came out but good ones now are well made and have long warranties.

This paint job d15 is way 2 much for what it does - the fans are not that good, and way 2 much crap is being spouted here. The noctua replacement socket kit offer is good but requires the original receipt document to accompany it - so if u have money to burn keep that document safe but then if you pay this much for an old design u probably don't care..

for amazon fans see this instead at $133 https://www.amazon.com.au/Phanteks-TC14PE-Cooler-Premium-140… hiding under Phanteks Premium Sleeved Extension Cable White - has a paint job! dunno about latest sockets though but good air cooler still like the cryo

    • +3

At this money aio water coolers blow it out of the water

Gamers Nexus shows it being the quietest cooler for the same noise levels and only two degrees off the highest AIO performance when noise is ignored - while being much quieter still.

LTT has similar results, no AIO is "blowing this out of the water", in fact this is a better choice for most people unless they have space restrictions.

      • -1
        1. everyone has space restrictions with this because of the overhang

        2. at this money 2 degrees is huge

        3. review changes aio selection and removes evga later on

aio is better, takes less space, less board weight, and very similar warranty and cheaper for most people.

      • Gamers Nexus shows it being the quietest cooler for the same noise levels and only two degrees off the highest AIO performance when noise is ignored - while being much quieter still.

Except they didn't? Performs worse than all the AIOs in the charts here at the same noise levels, and by more than 2 degrees too.

    • +1

How are the fans not that good? High airflow, high static pressure, low noise.

      • hundreds of fans have those qualities - many at cheaper prices - paying for the name..

        • +1

I admit the Noctua fans are very expensive, but I can't seem to find "hundreds of fan" that have the qualities of the Noctua ones.

          Got some examples?

          • @AdosHouse: phobya were good and gelid - these days cryorig and be quiet are cheaper alternatives with good performance.

arctic cooling are cheap and excellent workhorses

    • I actually got the free Noctua mounting kit without a receipt. I just had to take a photo of the Noctua product with a piece of paper with my name and date written on it.

      • that didn't happen last time I wrote in - had to find the bloody receipt

      • +1

Wish I tried that. I was in the store and picking up my new CPU and I thought about a new mounting kit, and just shelled out money for it. Couldn't be arsed waiting for it from Noctua. I'll just let myself out of OzBargain.

  • Have a low profile Noctua cooler and it isn't all too quiet. How loud is this cooler?

  • best recommendation for an AIO

    • if you can find stock

      arctic liquid freezer ii 280

    • look for cheap evga clc 280's - amazon used to do them - good cooler - was cheap

  • As someone that has done custom loop water cooling for years, I would steer clear of a lot of AIO coolers. Most normally come with cheap fans, thin aluminium radiators and slow pumps. There is reason why a certain percentage have issues. I have used the Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 on my Threadripper build and it worked well prior to installing my custom loop. Though cooler posted by the OP maybe over kill for Ryzen CPUs with a 65w TDP.

    • +1

Overkill, definately, but I have the original NH-D15 for my 3600X. Before that it was on my 1600X and before that it was on my i5-2500k.

My cooler has been in all my rigs for 9 years. Zero concern about water leaks, and I know that Noctua will make new brackets available for new CPUs.

I mainly have mine for quietness though. I like a silent case.

  • Is this compatible with AMD 3960x threadripper cpu?

    • No, NH-D15 is not compatible with TR4 or sTRX4

      • NH-U14S TR4-SP3 for 3960x.

  • Lol 80% of the people in here probably don't even overclock and just want to keep their cpu "cool" 😂

  • Back in stock.

    • Nvm it ended

  • +2

Well it's back and it's cheaper than ever - $158.70 it shows me, can we update this please @crunchynuts ?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07Y87YHRH/ref=pe_24183…

    • Anyone else a Prime member, but still getting stung for postage? I'm in Qld.

      • +1

        $22, prime member

  • I ordered one of these for $159.89. Ended up going with locally stocked cooling as I couldn't wait to build my new computer.

If anyone is interested in it once it arrives let me know, pickup Collingwood, VIC.
