HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset $63 @ JB Hi-Fi

460

Was looking for a cheap gaming headset to replace me old one which broke and saw these on sale. Not the cheapest price ever but it'll do the job.

The Cloud II and Cloud Alpha Headsets are also on sale.
Cloud II - $111 (was $179)

  • Does it have USB or 3.5mm ?

    • Connection: Headset - 3.5mm plug (4 pole) + extension cable - 3.5mm stereo and mic plugs

  • Can anyone speak about the comfort of this?
I got the the AW310H (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/527327), and don't mind the sound quality but it is so bulky and rather uncomfortable after a few hours of gaming.

    • They're very lightweight and comfortable. Have had them for a year and my mate also said the same thing.

    • +1

I previously purchased one for the missus while I used my old beat up headset and I have to say for a "budget" headset the Cloud is very comfortable.

It won't sound as nice as the higher end stuff but yeah in terms of comfort it can be used for hours in one sitting with no issues.

  • Not sure if it's me or what, but the cable twist like crazy. It's comfy, no headaches.

  • The Cloud 2s are great. Removable microphone is a plus.

    • Being removable, does it mean you can swap with a different one too?

      • It's got a strange proprietary hole, but it is a 3.5mm jack there so if you were to mod the casing of the left earcup then sure. I tried to put a standard 3.5mm cable in and it got in but was very loose.

  • My one addition to this is if you don't have aircon in summer - sweaty hell. But ymmv. Besides that, comfortable, great, serviceable, I've had them 2 years no issues.

  • Thanks, OP. just got the Cloud Alpha

Bought it for around this price some time last year and didn't have high expectations nor expected it to last long. Ended up still using it even til this day and its been good and quite comfortable. I have a big head struggle to find headphones that are reasonably comfy.

Been using it on the PS4 mainly for monster hunter. The audio is decent for the price. Mic is clear as far as I am aware, no one has complained about being unable to hear me.

The port is a 3.5mm audio jack. Can connect it with nearly any device.

    Would highly recommend it!

  • HyperX Cloud Alpha Gaming Headset $129 or HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless Gaming Headset $169. I understand one is wireless and one is corded that can be detached. Which one do you guys recommend?

  • I got this a while ago (maybe 2 years ago) when it was 50% off ($40 down from $79).

Have been using it ever since without any issues. Build quality feels good, audio is decent, definitely not bad for the price.

  • Wanted to check in to see if anyone had a recommendation out of the headsets above and the MH752 which is the same price point category?

  • thanks OP. got one. so far, so good.

got the cloud II from jb hifi for $90 back in january :) that was indeed a steal
edit: thought id add a word on it's comfort. its a fairly comfortable headset, but personally I find myself gaming more with the bose qc35's because it's soooo much more comfortable. But its an unfair comparison because they are also 2-3x the price and not a gaming headset. only time I use the cloud II is when i need to speak with teammates.
sound quality is very good on the cloud IIs also - can recommend the headset for sure

    • You sure you're using the velour ear pads? Those are veeeeeeeeeery comfortable.

  • they also have console versions of the Stinger for $55. No idea of the difference

    • +1

Thanks, just saw this. In my local they were OOS of PS4 headsets so I asked the guy if I could have the stinger in this deal for $55 and he agreed

    this or kia stinger?

  • Just got Cloud 2, thank you mate!
I know it was $90 before, but I'm not intended to wait for another sale :D

  • Great headset.
I have the wireless version for PS4 and love it!
Lightweight, robust and good sound quality.

  • Picked one up for my neice a few weeks ago. She loves it, really comfortable and the sound is pretty decent.

  • are any of these wireless version??

  • Thanks OP just got the alpha

  • I have the wireless version (USB Dongle non-Bluetooth) version of it, which is compatible with PS4/PC and have been loving it so far of work calls and minor gaming. Currently out of stock. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hyperx-cloud-stinger-wire…

  • Bought the Cloud Stinger in 2018 for $79 plus shipping.

Still runs great, very comfortable, I wear them between 10-12 hours a day lately.
Sounds is decent (I'm not an audiophile though) and the microphone is pretty clear.

I have these plugged into a Sound Blaster Play! 3 USB DAC.
Dropped these about 40-50 times and still works fine.

    Good pickup
