COTD Thomas Tank Engine $20 Sets & Talking Trains $7.95/$9.95 Code 4 $30 off Misty Set Free Ship

380
MISTY

I am not one to post COTD unless it is an extreme bargain and believe me for those with kids in love with Thomas the Tank Engine, they'll recognise this as being fantastic, especially with free shipping.

The $20 sets are the best value as each of them include a train of some description and other bits and pieces.

The trains are also great as I paid double for Talking Gordon at Toys R Us with a 25% discount on the weekend hence I think COTD RRP's are bit out of sync!! Lucky Gordon's for Christmas so I'll be taking him back quick smart!!

I don't see the larger sets as being as good value but each to their own. :)

I bought 1 each of the $20 sets and Gordon. Just to note, Ikea's train tracks fit with Thomas' Wooden Railway/these tracks. :)

Code c/o kheob, thanks kheob -

QQQ tweeted a coupon to get $30 off the Misty set: MISTY.

Oh dear, just bought one of each for myself. Errr, for my 2 year old I meant!

Wow, interesting ideas there…certainly ones I don't agree with. I feel the wooden railway is far more authentic, but again, to each their own. :)

Sorry, came off a bit nastier to the parents than I intended, it's not a big deal really. The wood style toys are nice if it reminds you of old fashioned train toys, but I think most kids do prefer the normal ones (just my opinion).

    • my kids prefer the wooden one to the plastic one… i usually wait until Target have them on discount, often 50% off… Myer do that too sometimes…

The wooden sets are more versatile as they are compatible with many other brands (BRIO, IKEA, Kmart, Aldi), meaning you can expand your tracks at a lower cost - therefore I wouldn't say the wooden sets are more expensive at all, quite the opposite.

  • I prefer the wooden one. If this was 1995 I would also buy one each.

  • Awesome! Just got some for Christmas for my little 2 year old. He absolutely loves Thomas!!

check ebay for extra tracks and accessories… much much cheaper than retail…

  • Thanks for the good deals OP. Just bought 2 sets with the talking gordon and percy trains.

  • Got a few for my 2yo too. Great deal! :)

Would like to buy, but seeing as we 'caught' a heap of the Early Engineer versions last time COTD had the sale, I must refrain. Very good price for all sets however.

  • Just bought one of each of the $20 sets, and the more popular trains, for my sons Chrissy/Birthday. Thanks for the tip OP!

I think the winner here is FREE SHIPPING. COTD pricing has always been pretty good but then shipping cost usually kills it. So when they offer free shipping, you tend to get pretty good buys. :)

Out of curiosity, anyone know if the RRPs they have there are a true reflection of what these would cost if one would buy them from elsewhere?

    • The RRP's are true. Was going to buy the Misty Island Adventure from Toys R Us for my sons birthday last week - it was $229, so we decided to hold off for the time being. Can't believe it is so much cheaper on COTD.

Why does it have to be for kids? I love Thomas, i want them!

    • I bet you do.

  • Good price indeed. But buying from COTD is frustrading. Buy now and receive in 30 days. Terrible service and they have trouble catching up with the high order volume.

  • Bugger - bought before the code went up… Saw some online / store prices on the Misty set, cheapest I could find was $180, so a good deal anyway…

  • I saw the QQQ code after purchased the Misty set … messaged them last night and this morning got a great response that they will refund me the $30.
    Great service COTD.
