this game better live up to its hype

    • +2

So many games in the past promises so much, but under deliver, such as graphic downgrade and game play experience. So I have my doubt about this one.

      • +39

CDPR have a long track record of over delivering.

          • +5

@chepsk8: didnt stop me from sinking 100+ hours into the game!

          • @chepsk8: You'll find some developers do mentioned that what you see during a E3 trailer be different from real have play.

Afterall, thru still do fair bit of end work between E3 to releasing the games..

          • @chepsk8: Lol , facts downvoted .

            Praise Geraldo

        • +1

Yep, Witcher 3 + DLC expansions are one of my favourite games of all time

    • +1

Anything Mike Pondsmith is involved with is generally pretty good.

    • I watched a game play video last night that just made me think oh no, this is going to be another Watch Dogs.

      I surely hope not.

  • +1

Isn't a One X usually priced a bit higher than this on its own?

    • +15

Supposedly they've ended production / shipping on the X to focus on next gen and that's why this limited version is coming out before the game itself.

Probably wanna get rid of it relatively fast. My guess, in my uninformed opinion, there must have been some deal inked that said they needed to make a special console, but the game got delayed and now is in a spot where if it doesn't do it literally right now, it will be a special edition last gen console that no one would buy, versus now, where maybe 10 people will buy it.

      • Ohhhhh! Makes sense

      • +1

Custom/Special/Limited editions are the ones that Microsoft confirmed they will ceased production. This will be the last custom bundle they will make.

Black/White Xbox one X will still be in production.

    • Yeah this price looks to be clearing out stock of the one X before Series X arrives. The game was meant to be out now, so I can see why MS are stuck with this limited edition now.

  • +26

Console looks great.. But.. "Enjoy a full-game digital download of Cyberpunk 2077 (available September 17, 2020". With the new xbox around the corner $400 is a lot to part with.

    • +2

No really, if you factor in $80 of that would have been spent on the game anyway and you will get about $250 trade in value for this for a new gen Xbox, more on eBay or private sale. So you're looking at at least $330 you're getting back on going towards the game, leaving you only $100 or so out of pocket.

      • +11

Since your thing says trading toward a Series X, and that's meant to come out in a few months, I think being a hundred bucks out of pocket for only a couple months with the console is a terrible deal. I mean if it was this time last year and the same figures maybe, but that's trash.

        • +16

Not everyone wants to upgrade on launch day; $100 for 6-12 months use of a console seems ok to me, and realistically the worst case scenario. You could actually make money if the game proves popular and the limited edition console becomes scarce and desirable through private sale and eBay.

      • -1

I think this game will be down to $59 at launch. Given that every retailer will buy about 100,000 copies.

It will be like farcry, in the discount bin 1 Month later and trade in price will be $4 because so many copies exist.

      • The game will come with a free next gen upgrade too. Which is a plus.

    • +2

Depends of course on whether you want the XOX to "catch up" with games this generation, while you trade it in on two years. Microsoft has committed to support this console with first party games for two years at least. So I could see someone who has never jumped, jumping it now, playing the great (3rd party games) and then getting the XSX later.

      • +2

That's what I did, upgraded from Xbox 360 at the first Black Friday sale point for the Xbox One X in Nov 2018. Worked out great, huge catalogue of current and backwards compat games, mature platform, top iteration of the console.

I have no intention of buying Series X at release.

      • XSX won't have any exclusive games for a while right?

        • Will it have any ever? I thought all games will also be available on PC

        • Not so much exclusives.. As they games are to be backward compatible with existing Xbox One's..
But there are launch titles that are tailored for XSX.. (Updated graphics, etc)

    • +4

This is actually a better deal, considering:

      • There is already a huge library of games to enjoy, especially with Gamepass and Backwards compatibility. Your subscription will also carry over to the new Xbox.

      • Microsoft confirmed new games will still be compatible with this gen.

      • It's usually not a good idea to buy the first iteration of a new console. There will almost definitely be an improved version released later.

You'll actually be saving more money buying this and later trading it in for an improved iteration of the next Xbox.

      • What should I do with my Xbox one s then?

        • Sell it! I'm selling it to my brother for cheap.

    • -1

Now is a terrible time to buy PS4 / Xbox.

    • Buy it as a 4K/Bluray player and get the media remote.

  • +1

Wow this is super cheap especially considering I can get 10% off ebgames gift cards, but I already have an X so boo.

    • Where can you get 10% off EBGames cards?

      • I get through a week perks thing but I think the usual RAC or entertainment books should also offer something similar.

    • +1

But they wont let you use eb gift card for this right? Just went to the checkout page and could not find an option to redeem a gift card.

    • Hard times. I feel your pain, brother.

  • +1

Whilst I’m looking forward to cyberpunk, the next gen consoles will only be a a few months behind… I’m with PW2002AU on this.

  • Would be a good one to grab for console collectors.

Will be in limited numbers due to the Xbox one being near end of life, and will be tied to a potentially famous (or infamous) game.

  • Ive got an xbox one x and a powerful gaming pc, so i often compares games that are on both platforms. My worry is that cyberpunk is the latest and greatest game, on an aging platform. The only game ive seen that actually looks near on par with pc for the xbox was red dead 2.

And the ps4 i find the only way they can get decent graphics out of it is by having an fov of 60 (super zoomed in) which gives me a headache. I love my 90 + fov's :D

    • +1

      Quelle hardship.

    • Distance from screen affects perception with FOV so 60 is appropriate for a TV 2m away but not on a monitor where typically higher is more comfortable.

      • For me its the complete opposite. I do all my gaming on a 55" tv which is roughly 2.5m away from the couch. The small 60 fov's on that just look silly, like the player is looking through a pair of binoculars.

  • +2

Seems like a lot to drop on the One X just as the new consoles are going to release, they will be considerably more expensive though. I would consider a deal if you're not looking to get into the next gen on day one, the current gen consoles still have some legs and will have support for some time.

  • Not sure about Xbox but in general limited editions of PS4 have held onto its value very well long term and usually sell for more than it originally cost on ebay.

If that’s the same with xbox then this is a really good deal.

    • I picked up the Xbox One X Gears of War bundle for roughly $379 after Amex cashback. Listed it on eBay and got $610 recently. And I still have the extra controller.

Not sure I’ll buy this deal, but definitely thinking about it.

  • +1

hmmm been stalking XB1x prices for a month or 2… Not looking to get the series X for a while… similar prices more than 6 months ago too…. should I pull the trigger?

    • +2

If you want the game and think the console looks as sexy as I think it looks, go for it.

      • Game i would buy i think and like pupdog below I'm wanting to play for a while… it does look good

  • +7

Just now realising what a rip off the collectors edition is

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/488089

For the same price, you could get a whole console!

    • +2

Yeah. Better to just think of this Cyberpunk console as the collector's edition.

  • What do ya think I could get for the game on day one? I'm not so much interested in the game but I do wanna get the X console and play it for a couple of years and then switch to the SX when it's a lot cheaper and maybe has undergone another iteration.

    • It's a game download, Don't think you'll be able to sell it. When I got a Titanfall combo several years back. The game was already active on the console, it just links to your account and downloads after you sign in.

  • +1

Ok will get one for the collection since I have enough on my Jbhifi gift card.

The no future word on console glows in the dark.

    Cyberpunk2077

  • +1

So tempting. My current Project Scorpio Edition has been overheating and dying a slow death, Microsoft won’t touch it as it’s past it’s two year warranty. Essentially $99 for the game (I buy digital) + a new controller so the console would be technically under $300. I do like the design of the console, not normally into special editions besides Day 1 launches…the controller not a huge fan of.

Might try change up the thermal paste in current one first though. Arggghh

    • +1

Should try repasting the CPU and replacing the ram thermal pads. One X is not too hard to open up. Save you money

      • Yeah I've watched a few videos on it, shouldn't be too hard. Might do it over the next couple days then if I somehow screw the pooch too badly I can buy this one haha

        • It'll be worth it. It's sad that MS chose to implement blower style cooling on the X. The base Xbox One has a better cooling solution that is more robust.

  • +1

Why is EB online only? I have close to $200 store credit I could have used towards the pre-order.

    :(

    • Would they let you buy an EB Games Gift Card?

      • I tried to do the same thing, but they don't seem to accept gift cards for preorders.

    • Hopefully!

      • Did you edit your comment? I could swear you had something about calling your local store and they said you could return the console and buy it back using store credit.

I'm not going crazy, am I?

    • I'm fairly sure with EB if you click and collect, you can make installment payments in store.

      • you can't click and collect with this order. delivery only.

        • Oh, just looked. So annoying when they do that.

          • +1

@Ryven: It is. I actually walked into a EB and they wouldn't let me order it. I think they do it so you can't suddenly change your mind when the order is about to be shipped. Sometimes they are stuck with excess stock coz of it. And if it's an expensive item, it really sucks if they order in too many. But I do think with a console, it can at least retain its original value even if you don't want it later.

            • @jackthefrost: Yeah, it's a good price. If I didn't already have a One X, I'd grab it as a 4K Bluray player at that price. Added bonus it'll hold value better than a 4K Bluray player.

  • Out of interest, given that the game is a digital copy, does that mean it will be "upgraded" free to the Series X edition when that comes out/becomes available.

    • +3

      Yup

    • -2

Well the only people can do that is Nintendo.

Identical games on Wii U and switch.

Don't think they will charge twice as Xbox series x is backward compatible all the way from xb classic.

      • I guess we’re just for forgetting about all those ‘HD’ versions of games this gen from Xbox and PS4 that were already in HD last gen. Honestly, Nintendo is the historically the best company for backwards compatibility; Wii played all GameCube games, Wii U played all Wii games, 3DS played all DS games, DS played all GBA games. Xbox has only ever been partially backwards compatible, so next gen will be the first time they have ever offered full backwards compatibility.

    • +1

      Yep, Smart Delivery.

  • +4

Considering that Microsoft promised that new games from Xbox game studios will be cross gen for at least two years after Xbox Series X launch and this is an extremely limited edition, the price is not that bad at all.

  • +5

Just pre - ordered one. I hope jB hi fi doesn't send me an email before launch telling me its ran out of stock.

A lot of people saying the new gen console is coming in a few months so this isn't a good deal. Let me ask you this: how many people are out there willing or afford to spend a ridiculous amount of money to buy them at launch? Some people aren't that in a hurry to upgrade and usually just wait for a sale, like myself.

Can't speak for others but for someone who hadn't own a new xbox since xbox360 this is a good deal for me. I'm going to sell the game and the expansion pass as I don't play fps games on console and the pass is useless to me.

  • +1

How much the console will hold its value in furture on the collection perspect all dependds on how sucessful this game will be.

Thinking of buying a xbox one x console to keep sealed for collection.

    • +3

Quite a few of my NIB previous gen machines died in storage. The original Xbox HD lunches itself if not used. Batteries can reverse polarity and bulge if unused. Many eject mechanisms have plastic and rubber parts that fail. Cartridge systems are reliable but after that, I don't recommend storing newer machines as an investment.

      • Never a good idea to horde electronics.

  • -5

CD Projekt games should not be played on anything less than a PC.

    • -1

      hmm. with your 4000$ PC?

      • +1

        no 1000 dollar pc.

    • +3

Tell that to the ones that got the Switch Version.

  • trying to pre-order on EB Games (thanks OP) and getting "something went wrong" error. Anyone else having issues?

  • -8

Better off waiting for series x console.

    • +1

It’s going to cost a lot more than $350.

  • +2

The next gen xbox will be out some 2 months later?

    • within half year for sure.

    • +2

But they will ve two glorious months

      • Amen.

  • +2

The Series X/PS5 is going to come out 1-2 months after CBP2077 launches. At most, the next gen consoles are going to be $800 for something way more powerful. I can't imagine how bad the load times will be on the ONE X's hdd.

    • +2

I think they should be ok. Imaging the load times on base Xbox lol.

  • +2

Wow the JB hi-fi online preorder sold out quickly. Just ordered from EB. Fingers crossed there's still stock.

  • i thought its for the xbox series x lol.

  • +3

Gamesmen on ebay have listed it for $442.95 free postage https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/224035993288

    • Any eBay codes to get that price down? There used to be a nearly constant stream of 5% off ones but i havent seen any for a while…

    • +1

It's not really free postage, the postage is factored into the price. Price of console is $429

  • That didn't take long…already gone!!!!!
