They are really pushing hard for the home delivery market. I dont really understand the business model, they pay someone to walk around the store and get your groceries, and pay someone to deliver it. But I guess for now we are getting a good deal.

    • Guess when there's enough scale you don't need someone "walk around" and can simply deliver from a warehouse or sth similar

    • +7

They already have several highly automated fulfillment centres, which are basically warehouses with shelves and robots picking up orders. I guess such centres can't really work with click and collect. The more people are converted to home shopping, the more such centres pay for themselves.
As well, even click and collect orders in local shops reduce the number of shoppers in the stores, and let them handle growing population with the same size and number of checkouts.

      • +3

They don't have robots, they do have fulfillment centre warehouses where inside it looks like a store, but only staffs and they go around in their little trolley picking your orders, as if their doing the shopping on your behalf.

        • Yes, probably the robots were from their sweet dreams about the future.

      • +1

How did you make up this story? Robots?

They don't have a choice. If they don't evolve they'll get gobbled up by Amazon.

      • Amazon is worth 1.3 trillion USD and Woolies 47 billion AUD so Amazon can gobble up Woolies any time.

They always pick up from your local store. When you see "out of stock", it's out of stock at your local store.

  • +2

I stopped using online when they cancelled my order with less than 24 hours notice during the first few weeks of the panic buying. They even had the cheek to take the annual subscription fee a day before and then stopped online delivery. We have a been an online customer for over 5 years. Calls to support couldnt help or refund me the delivery fee. It took an email to the CEO to get a refund for the annual fee and no apologies for cancelling a normal shop.

    • +1

Guess they should've delivered your order with the stock they didn't have 🤷‍♂️

      • +3

No toilet rolls, pasta or other panic buying stuff, just normal everyday items that where in stock the next day when we were forced to go into the local store.

    • +1

I went off them when they delivered me floppy carrots and miniature pay per item produce. They also charged for crate to bench so I could avoid all that plastic and then delivered it in the plastic anyway. The support is pretty bad so I decided to go back to walk in.

You may need a bit of strategy.
I have kids and a long shopping list, so going in store with them takes more than an hour and extra spendings for bribing the kids. In the same time I don't trust the staff with the produce, fish and meat.
So we usually click and collect most of the stuff, and spend 5 minutes, usually when waiting for the order, to grab the produce and meat.
The plastic issue is hopefully temporary.

        • I like the idea..

      • +2

I've had problems on a few occasions as well but their support is usually not bad and they refund items without question. I think you can even request a refund for an item using their automated phone system (memory not 100% clear on this).

      • At least you're in a better position than most people called floppy.

This is targeted. "Sorry, you are not eligible for this coupon promotion."

    • I've got the same

    • I am getting same error message.

    • Me too

i love the charge for re-usable bags.. weve done click and collect a few times and the bags they use (and charge for) are barely usable for any purpose, including as bin liners

    • before = they need to pay for the bag and cost them arms & legs!!

now = they are saving the planet by charging you if you need(compulsory) a bag!!

      • The reusable bag fee is less annoying when you consider they refund the amount if you return at least one of the bags:

“…simply hand them back to us for recycling with REDcycle while receiving a new online order and we’ll refund $1 against your latest order. To do this, please pass the online reusable plastic bags to a Service Desk Team Member while collecting a new Pick up order in our stores.”

I find way too much plastic and packaging used in Woolworths deliveries personally. If you're in NSW, Harris Farm do some really good deliveries and basically just chuck it all in a recyclable cardboard box. They also allow real time tracking of the van.

    • +2

But do Harris Farm have 10% off codes & specials ? :-)

      • +2

You can join Friend of the Farm and get 5% off fresh veges.

        • Yep, and the other thing is free delivery Wed and Sat for orders over $80. Pretty easy to get over $80 these days I reckon.

      • +1

They offered me 25 dollars recently if I order online. Still, after the negative experience I had, I will never order from them again. I have received veggies that were not ripe. They replaced products I wanted with different ones without even asking me if that's fine, and they were expiring the next day after the delivery. Customer service refunded me some pieces, but it was a hassle I don't want to go through again.

Is there a minimum order to get the 10% discount?

  • So is it just me or are woollies home shoppers just not careful enough. I am 3 from 3 in having mistakes in my deliveries and unfortunately all of them were mistakes that meant I had to go to the shops to get those items. Have only tried 3 times so far due to some of the points offers. Is my experience common or was I just unlucky as at this point I won't use again unless some super awesome points deal or discount comes up.

    • Unlucky. All my orders but one were good. Although on another one they realised they forgot something but if I drove off without spending time checking I would have missed out.

    • Agreed. Not working for me

  • Not working for me either for a $160 order, must be targeted

Doesn't work for my profile - targeted?

    Thanks OP.
Woolly was so nice to send me this offer after I ordered. I used this code but I got the same code in an email.

  • Works on pick up, just used it.

Honey put the code in for me, didn't know about it till i googled the code after and found this.

  • Use JUNE10 for pickup.
