  • pretty strong feature set at that price

  • The big question for me… does it support AAC 5.1 channel surround sound? My VodaTV unit connected to my Yamaha HTR-2071 amp only plays these in stereo (but is fine with Dolby Digital, DTS 5.1 etc).

EDIT - Nope, looks like it can't according to the user manual.

    Audio Format
    • Dolby TrueHD
    • Dolby Digital Plus
    • Dolby Digital
    • DTS-HD Master Audio
    • DTS-HD High Resolution Audio
    • DTS Express
    • DTS
    • DSD 2-ch to 6-ch (2.8 MHz)
    • PCM 2-ch to 8-ch (Max. 192 kHz/24-bit)

PCM should work for AAC 5.1

      • I am completely stuck with that. I'm running Plex on a VodaTV and I've tried every setting I can find… any movie with an AAC 5.1 track (which seems really common) comes out as stereo (I assume PCM stereo). But AC3 (dolby digital) tracks come out perfectly as 5.1!

        • Panasonic TV here. Also pulled out hair trying to get anything but stereo to work for me. I now cast Plex content via my phone to my Chromecast. It's working fine that way.

  • Could be due to the player or a setting in the player, try isolating the problem? Maybe see if you can connect the amp to your pc and play an AAC 5.1 track over VLC player. In audio setting of VLC player, remember to select HDMI passthrough.

    • Computer itself works fine… Sends AAC 5.1 as PCM, even in Plex (on my PC) as my receiver can't decode AAC directly. This is purely a VodafoneTV and/or Plex client (Android TV) issue that's driving me nuts :)

But anyway, this is good receiver with a lot of features for the price!

      • i currently own a Marantz NR1604. U reckon this is worth the upgrade?

  • Does this have Bluetooth connectivity feature to connect to the mobile ?

    • +2

      Specs says it has bluetooth.

  • Cool have been looking for a new one and this fits the bill nicely thanks.

  • fantastic, thank you, purchased

now i can do away with my hard rubbish-sourced Yamaha HTR-6230 which has served me well with TV optical audio out + analog line out from Echo Dot for Spotify. This is a much neater solution in lots of ways.

Bought this a few weeks ago. Very happy. Great sound and specs for the price.

Got one last week to replace my 10-ish year old amp and it's great, especially at that price

  • Wondering how much of an upgrade (apart from the 4K support) this would be from a Yamaha RX-V1900

  • I have speaker that reads output as 8 ohm impedance. Not sure if this will be the right one for these speakers? Any suggestions will be helpful.

  • @msonu1975, I had the same question, the following link suggests that there should be no problems https://www.quora.com/Can-you-use-8-ohm-speakers-on-a-6-ohm-…

  • I found this link from 2006 where Yamaha explain the difference between the HTR and RX-V lines are just cosmetics and sales channel.
