Your title is a bit misleading.

Tax not quoted in the title, misleading.

"Under section 48 of Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (CCA)*, businesses that choose to advertise a part of the price of a particular product or service must also prominently specify a single total price… All airlines carrying on a business in Australia must advertise airfares that include all applicable fees and taxes.": http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/976249

Also from that link: "The ACCC will not tolerate further non-compliance. These pricing requirements have been in place since 25 May 2009… Non-compliance is likely to attract strong enforcement action to stop similar conduct in the future… All businesses are reminded that they must comply or face possible court action with civil penalties or the issuing of infringement notices over such practices."

This is an Australian business, so if someone wants to report them to the ACCC their details are below:

Rep updated the title, still not clear…

        • Not clear at all, and still a breach of the Competition and Consumer Act; they need to prominently display a single total price including taxes. What they're doing is simply not acceptable for any Australian business (in any industry), and is outright deceptive.

        • Rep updated the title and description again; now they don't give prices at all. And as greenpossum notes below, their prices including the "$100 cashback" are not much different to quoted prices without cashback on the Cathay Pacific website.

  • LOL, seriously I laughed so hard when I saw the taxes *LOL

  • Very misleading lol

Doesn't look like this offer is taking off.

  • totally deceiving and misleading, please treat us with a bit more respect…

Just out of curiosity I checked the fare at Cathay Pacific's site for a random date in that range and got $1047 ex-Sydney, compared with their $1067 less $100 cashback. It looks like this sort of price is the normal low season fare for this time of year (it's a bit cold there, except maybe Hainan Island), so you needn't be panicked by their "one-day" sale. Just saying.

  • whee… less information, more negs.

    • Hmm, that kind of sneakiness from the spammer deserves a neg from me too. Hahaha.
