      lol

    • +16

Not at all necessary - everyone who cares about this deal will know what the 3600 is.

        • -2

          You belong on r/gatekeeping

        • Bruh r u buying?

      • +9

Honestly, if you're at the point we're you're buying a CPU you should really have researched your options by now.

      • +3

Most people aren't negging the information, they are negging that he is telling OP what to do.

        • -1

I'm just negging because its a huge amount of negs for trying to be helpful and I think it's funny.

        • It was more helpful suggestion, than military order..

I thought I was visiting OzBargain, but somehow landed on OzBareMinimumEffort.com.au

          (:

      • god damn social justice anti-unnecessary description of a cpu in online deal sites what

      • +2

Seems like social justice warriors invaded OzBargain.

I don't see how this has anything to do with "social justice warriors"?

      • They're just salty they missed out on the ebay airpods deal :P

Seriously though using Chrome I just highlight the text of the product and right click to search google on the item if further research is needed. OzB members can occasionally share some good information/advice but its not a hardware forum.

        • OzB members can occasionally share some good information/advice

I agree with you, and this is the MOST geodest of information/advice

just highlight the text of the product and right click to search google on the item

        • Sure, because it's more efficient for 200 people to Google the info, rather than the OP once… (:

      • Thanks baldur, but its too late for me, save yourself !

    • +2

LOL at all my fellow PC hardware addicts downvoting this poor guy.

Guys, I know his word choice seemed a bit cheeky. But 99.9% of people have no idea what a Ryzen 5 3600 is. It's not inconceivable that one or two of them might click on this deal. Having extra info doesn't hurt anyone.

This is one of the reasons so many people who'd be better off with a PC just give up and buy a console. We're living in a very small bubble, the vast majority of people who could use one of these know nothing about it, and it takes hours to learn the basics (for you too, though you've forgotten all that now). Would it really kill us to help them out occasionally?

      • +2

Great comment. I'm one of the clueless. I'm using the comments here at OzB to do my first build. Next big cake day is a 70 one.
So getting back into gaming and a new PC is both really scary and also exciting. CPU/GPU I can get that far but the ram and everything else? I'm just guessing so I trawl the comments and take it all on board. Cheers.

    Geez….must…resist…

  • I already ordered from Amazon US a week and half ago for 280, any chance I can return for free and get it again?

    • +4

Assuming it's shipped, I don't think so. Whenever this happens to me, I just remind myself - you win some you lose some :P

    • +8

Just chat to them online, they should credit you the difference in your account if you ask nicely.

      • +2

Just ask if you can get the difference in promotional credit to avoid the return and reorder. It is still possible even if it has been shipped, from my experience.

    • +4

280 is still good value. for $14 half a chance i’d rather won’t obsess and waste time.

    • +1

Message them and they'll usually give you some store credit. There's a reason why Amazon has killed all competition. As much as people shit on Amazon, as a customer of well over 10 years, I've never had a bad thing to say about them.

Returns and warranty is always fantastic. They offer store credit for pricing errors and even when prices drop right after purchase. Cancelling orders is easy. Once a package went missing in delivery, they sent a new one and when they both arrived, I contacted them to return one of the packages and they said I could just keep it.

  • +2

Is it just me or is this a really good price for local stock? Can also combine it with the $10 off first time app ordering

    • Hi mate, how to get that $10 off first-time app ordering?

      • +1

Has to be first time ordering from the app, and has to be the AU amazon listing. Log into app find the 3600 Au Amazon listing, under price should be a discount or coupon click on it and click redeem. Go to shopping cart and it should be applied already, if not copy the discount code and add it in cart in app. Thats what worked for me anyway

        • Thanks for replying but I cant find that one. Are you a Prime member?

  • +1

Is the motherboard (MSI MPG X570) for $104 effectively a good deal? Will it work with the next gen Ryzen getting released later this year?

    • +3

Seemed too good to be true. One of the Amazon reviews for CPU w/ X570 MSI Motherboard (said it was in a bundle with CPU, only came with motherboard) so the price is $369 rather than $369-$265.18.

      • +1

Yeah a number of reviews state its just the motherboard

      • +1

Yeah, now that I look at it, that price is for MB alone. Description is misleading.

  • +7

I wish these price drops were reflected in GPUs and MBs. I've been holding off building a new system for months now and availability and prices are started to peeve me off.

    • +5

If you've already waited a few months, might as well wait for AMD and Nvidia to release their new GPUS and buy a second hand 5700 XT or 2070 super for a steal. Keep in mind the new cards are meant to be much better in price/performance so keep it in mind if buying a used card.

      • when will this be?

        • People reckon soon. Some say 6 months some day early next year some say 3 months.

        • +4

Most likely September, when Cyberpunk 2077 releases.

      • +1

Isn't this the standard spiel for anything new?? I mean wait for the new version and pay top dollar or buy last gen for less….

        • +1

Pretty much hype train taking over without substantial facts at this time. If i were Nvidia id keep raising my prices as 'Apple like' consumerism has taken hold at the top end of GPU town, justifying their exorbitant prices.

    • MSI tomahawk max b450 was apart of my build until it went up to $239 (PC Case Gear), just checked then and it's dropped to $215.

Also the 3600 is back in stock but slightly higher price at $265.44 (Amazon au)

  • Bugger!

  • Suggestions for motherboard to pair in the mATX form factor?

    • +6

Mortar Max is decent unless you want inbuilt wifi/bluetooth

  • +6

It's actually insane how Intel would charge you an arm for a six core consumer variant CPU back then.

  • +8

It is almost literally half the price of a 10600K and it's really very very close to it's single core performance, I don't know why you'd buy basically anything else for just gaming, it's perfect.

  • +3

Guess it could go down to $249 in a few weeks.

  • It so hard to know when its the cheapest time to buy. I was hoping to grab a R7 3700X but this is a nice price..

    • I don't think Ryzen prices are going up anytime soon. (Maybe on the 3300x, since it's just as fast - actually a touch faster - than this in gaming but only $205, there's a chance it'll be out of stock at that price for a bit.

    Was it really that price?

    • i don't know but $265 doesn't sound great to me since i got this CPU for $270 about a month after it was launched

      • i don't know but $265 doesn't sound great to me since i got this CPU for $270 about a month after it was launched

No reason for it to go down in price. Nothing new has been released, no new real competition from Intel really…etc.

        • yeah.. to be fair it's a fantastic cpu for the money, 20k on passmark for sub $300 is outrageously good.. most people are putting around with 10% of that power… more than enough for 95%+ of users

it's in a league of it's own at this price point, absolutely no reason to expect prices to decline until something better comes along, i agree

    • I didn't see a deal on here for $208. There would have been a big deal if it really was.

      • +1

Yeah it was never 208. That was when the price dropped to 280. Camelcamelcamel glitched and somehow managed to write 208 lol

  • Awesome price.

  • +2

It ok op, I don’t know anything about this cpu either and I still bought it, cheers

  • bought thanks

  • +1

    Shows as $311.95 now.

  • Back to 311 in aus.

  • +2

    Damn, missed out by minutes.
Is this worth looking at? https://www.amazon.com.au/AMD-Ryzen-3600-Processor-100-10000…
    $260

  • Boy lucky sold mine for $250 used!

    • I bet you could still easily sell it for that (or more) on ebay.

  • +1

Ryzen 1600 is about $140 on aliexpress, the AF edition is about the same if you can find it, the 2600 is $160 on zen++ and the 3600 is $260-360 depending on sellers, rebates and discounts. The diff is about 10% bettween the 1600 and 2600 and 30% between the 2600 and the zen2 3600 (single core was seriously improved and cache increased) BUT BANG4BUCK a 2600 is the best to buy IMO… Toss on a B450 MB with USB-C like the cheap asrocks from $130-180 & you have an upgrade path to 3600 when they drop another $100+ as well as with a BIOS update the 4xxx series…. 16gb of DDR4 3200 and a 1060GTX/580 for around $200-250 and you have a gaming beast at all but 4k resolutions!

    • Do you have links for the MOBO and GPU? This is what I have been trying to build.

  • +1

For those of you wanting to purchase a Ryzen CPU and also play Horizon Zero dawn you might want to hold off. AMD looks like they will shortly bundle the game with their CPUs
    https://www.eteknix.com/amd-to-bundle-horizon-zero-dawn-ryze…

  • you can change the seller to Amazon US to get OP price. Worked for me. ETA is 7-9th of July.

  • +2

    It's back again at $267.44

    • You can post it as a new deal, as I don't think you can edit the deal if the price goes up
