eufy Smart Scale White/Black $64 (Was $112) @ JB Hi-Fi (Free Pickup / + Delivery) @ Amazon AU (Delivered)

110

Was on the market for one of these prior to moving out a few weeks ago and it was priced at $112. Managed to buy it for $79 when I priced matched during Click Frenzy but now it's down to $64. Not sure if this is a permanent price change or temporary but a great price compared to other smart scales on the market.

Uses Bluetooth to connect to the Eufy Life phone app. Measures the following:

  • Weight
  • Body Fat
  • BMI
  • Fitness Body Composition Analysis

As with all of these fitness devices, you're not going to get a completely accurate reading but it gives a good overall picture and I've found the results to be consistent (i.e body fat etc not jumping around each measure) and has helped me track my fitness progress overall.

The design and feel is also quite sleek so doesn't feel like it takes up too much room.

  • would the ones with the conductive handles that you hold in your hands more accurate?

    • +4

nah, the only accurate ones are the ones with hands that come out of the machine and grab your love handles.

    • You'd probably get slightly more of an accurate reading but pretty much what cynicalmike said.

Overall I've found that as long as the readings are consistent, you'll get an indication that will change with your diet and fitness/undiet and unfitness.

But yeah if you wanted a true measure, you'll need some exercise scientists dunking you in water.

  • Black sold out at Amazon, but can still backorder.

  • +4

    that's one expensive insulting machine.

    • At least the font in the app seems friendly that I don't feel so bad about myself lol

  • Is this the same one that was advertised a month ago down to $40, but all our orders got cancelled?

    • +1

Different model, that deal was the c1.

      • +1

        What's the difference?

        • +1

Good question, they look similar and have similar description. The C1 usual price is cheaper but not sure why.

It appears that this model used to be called 'Eufy BodySense Smart Scale' but dropped the BodySense.

          Edit: Some discussion/links here

Got the following reply from Eufy. C1 T9146 is the newer model. Both of the 2 models have similar functions in testing the body composition. T9140 is with 4 batteries and the ITO transparent conductive film, while the T9146 is with 3 batteries and no-ITO material. The main difference lies in the different outer appearance due to the different material.

      • Cheers, they looked really similar in the image

Got the old version not long ago for $34. Works well

This or the Withings @ $79?

    • +1

I think the one you're referring to runs wifi instead of Bluetooth so you don't actually have to have your phone close by to sync up which is nice to have. Haven't looked at any reviews though

      • +2

The wifi / BT thing is actually relevant. I don't want to be digging my phone out everytime I wander to the bathroom to weigh myself. It sounds minor but it would be a continual hassle.

Looking deeper though, I would be more interested in the Body+ model. Apart from having more metrics (which, to be fair, are also available on the Eufy) it has an athlete mode for those whose physique is skewed towards that type (as mine is). And, a bit more unusually, it claims to compensate for local flucuations in gravity. Handy for when you take your scales on a trip to the Himalayas.

It is a good shout, it didn't bother me at time of consideration but I have found it tedious to have my phone on me to sync up every time I weigh myself. Not the biggest issue but having it on wifi would make it more seamless. I'd definitely be using it more on a daily basis if it was on wifi in that sense.

The gravity thing is interesting, quite well thought actually. But then again I don't think I'd be keen on bringing it with me to the Himalayas lol

          • @CrunchyOJ: Annoyingly, it is only in stock at a few JB stores, all of which are interstate, and it isn't available for delivery.

  • This or Mi Composition Scale 2?

  • There are quite a few ble enabled body composition scales at around $35. They use pretty similar tech. Paying double on sale seems confusing.

New York Times's review on all smart scales may help you choose:
    https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-smart-scales…

    • Reading that article.. Seems like this one here is the budget model and if accuracy is required, then the Eufy P1 is the one to go for..

  • I got this today for $55 at Jb hifi instore. Just show the same product on Amazon with this price to get this price matched!
