    Doubt [X]

Yep I'll have SD865 and GMS for that kind of $$$

      • +1

Any better phone for this kind of $$$?

      • +6

        this phone has GMS

    • -4

      Based on stolen technology.

      • +2

well, that is how china help their economy thrive by not recognising foreign patents. If they do, then China's economy will not be what it is today.

      • lol

  • Too expensive for an older model. Cheaper on ebay too.

  • 999 at jbhifi

    opps sorry, back to 1299

how is this cheaper than the other posted deal?

these day no one check the old post anymore?

  • Your link shows mate 30pro $980

  • Is it funny that this is more than the newer mate 30 and only slightly less than the better hardware but sans gms p40 pro

    • Still got Google

  • this is the last version that supports google.

I owned both this one and the reno 5g.
p30 pro photos are clearer when going more than 10 times zoom.

P30 pro can take a clear image of the moon whilst reno 10x looks like a light post.

  • I regret having bought a Huawei phone, the hardware is good, but the OS has so many issues. The two most annoying are:

    1) Can't use Whatsapp voice chat (or other chat apps) with the screen off or while focused on another app for more than about a minute before your mic cuts out.
    2) Alarm will be silent if audio is turned down or phone is set to silent. There's no way to rectify this, it's even noted in their support documentation: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/content/en-us00409667…

The preset alarm does not ring at the designated time

    Cause:

Your phone is in Silent mode, or the alarm volume has been set to 0.
    • Ring in silent mode is not enabled.
    • Your phone has been muted by a flip.
    • Do not disturb is in effect.

    Solution:

    • Go to Clock > Alarm > Settings, and enable Ring in silent mode. (This option is not available in EMUI 9.X and EMUI 10.0.)

    • I do think alarm should be off when the phone is at silence mode

      • I like to be able have my phone on silent when I sleep but also have a way to be woken up.

This is the only phone I've ever had that had this problem.

They also limit which apps can be dual apped. Xiaomi phones allow any app to be dual apped.

  • Excellent hardware! But relatively old handset with some OS issues as mentioned above. I was blasted for mentioning the CCP on the last Huawei deal, but even forgetting that completely I'd wager the OnePlus 8 around this price would be better for the vast majority of people (SD865 etc).

      This is a spy phone.

    Yes

    Heh.

  • Surprised that the P30 Pro has kept it's pricing very well considering it's over a year old and that the newer models in other OzB posts are similar. Goes to show having native Google Services makes a difference in keeping the price up.

  • i'm curious- whats so good about this phone

    • +1

      Good: Camera and battery.
Bad: The price is so high. I bought one last October for ~$870 (after all discount, cashback,…) Now after 8 months it is still $1000+

      • yeah although 1000 seems a bit much for a 2 year old phone given we have sd 865, or 865+ later this year

        • It's 15 months old only. However, if Huawei didn't have that Google ban for their new flagships then I think at this time this phone would be selling for around $700

  • -1

wait does Huawei still have google playstore and apps ? I thought they were blacklisted BY US? did this change recently?

  • +1

    Still too much.

  • This or the Samsung?
