    This really burns.

    • +14

      Lightweight.

The Korean chilli stir noodles is the killer.

    • +7

It's not spicy unless it comes out spicy.

      • It's not clean unless it's pine o clean.

    • +3

you can tone down the spice by adding in some milk - i’ve done it and my korean friend swears by this!

      • +3

Just add less spice to it…not sure about the milk idea

      • +1

I tried with a touch of fresh cream. Taste way better….

    • +1

add in singles/sandwich slice cheese to tone it down

    • Ice helps next morning ;-)

    • really? it's ok compared to Buldak Bokkeummyeon
I heard Buldak Bokkeummyeon is yummy compared to 18 Prohibited La-men

  • +1

The noodles are very nice, but the flavouring is a little too spicy.

    • +8

If it's too much for you. Try not putting the whole seasoning. Add it little by little to your taste. That way you can still eat it.

      • +2

I always use half the packet of seasoning for any spicy instant noodle.

Also, put it on the stove.

        • -1

Also, put it on the stove.

Don't put the seasoning on stove, unless you want your sharemates running out screaming with tears running down their eyes.

      • +6

Not putting the whole packet in?

You've got to bump those rookie numbers up!

        • +4

There's enjoying your food and there's trying to burn a hole in your insides.

    • if you don't want it to be too spicy,
throw in some leafy vegetables (or crack an egg into it),
so that they can absorb some of that 'spice'.

  • +4

Yesss! I ran out 2 weeks ago and have been waiting for it to go on half price!

    • +2

Same. I just used the last packet from last 1/2 price deal at Woolies

  • +3

It used be very hot but not any more. I think the flavour has changed since 2000.

    • +12

Maybe your taste buds is gone.

    • +24

      everything has changed since 2000

      • Some things never change
Nongshim Shin Ramyun, the pressure is all on you…

  • +9

Put an egg in the soup.

    • yep, and if you do, the secret is not to stir it in. Just put it in then leave it

  • +1

Must get one made in Korea. Then you can taste the actual shin ramyun.

  • +6

The Samyang noodles are a lot better if you like spicy but these are still really nice!

    • +1

Are Samsung selling for $3 as well?

      • +1

Do a new post. Will be deal of the year.

      • They were $4.50 half price in woolworths from the last time i remember

    • -2

      The Samyang noodles are yuck.

  • -1

Doesn't this noodle had a reputation of having some unhealthy substance (something to that effect). Is that all cleared and sorted?

    • +10

Having a diet of any packet noodles is never going to be healthy.

      • +2

i used to eat 2 of these a day. then got diagnosed with high blood pressure and cholesterol. i still have them once in a while but i miss eating them regularly.

kids dont mess around with that stuff though, near impossible to get my numbers back to normal

    • Would like to know more, if there is truth to it

    • +1

I think you are referring to one of the Covid 19 hoaxes people were spreading a few months ago, if so it turned out to be all BS.

That said, if ur looking for not unhealthy, you should probably look else where lol, just look at the nutrition list on the back of the packet

      • No I think it was many years ago that it had some kind of toxic, not just the generally unhealthy instant noodle. But yeah I think it has been sorted given that was so many years ago, but not sure as I did not follow up.

        • Did you have a read of the article linked above by "strangeloops66"?

      • MSG is a bit overblown, from the stuff i've read. just eat in moderation like everything else.

        • +2

There are people allergic to it though. So worth mentioning it if food has it so those allergic to it can avoid.

      • Msg is in many things like your potato chips, thins, Doritos etc, only a very small people have a bad reaction to it

  • anyone tried the new baked noodles, saw it at Costco, same brand, suppose to be 75 percent less fat, wasnt sure if it was any good, didn't wanna buy 20 packets

    • +1

It’s not bad. My wife loves it but it’s not the same and not as spicy.

    • +1

You can, if you don't like it just return it. I have returned food before, or bulk packets where I tried one and didn't like it.

  • +5

This is a great noodle with decent flavouring to use as a base. I usually cook with half a packet of noodles and then add egg, vegies and some protein.

    • -5

+1. these are a great base to a quick, simple meal

just drain soup and add pulled pork, pie apple, pumpkin spice and a swirl of cranberry sriracha cheese sauce made from a secret blend of cranberry sauce, triple brie, kewpie mayo, homemade habanero sriracha and double cream.
top with caramelized bananas, pour over a generous amount of heated suntory hibiki and flambé.
finish with freshly grated nutmeg, cilantro, extra whipped cream, balsamic glazed strawberries and a squeeze of fresh tahitian lime.

  • Been waiting for this, time to stock up, 20 packs should do me to the next half price sale

  • +3

its been awhile, honestly this is the best noodles money can buy

  • Is this one made in China or Korea?

    • +5

      Made in korea

  • +4

You have to try the "Black" version of these. Makes the soup so much thicker and almost creamy like, love it

    • +2

there's a 'Lite' version of these noodles too.

  • +3

    Lets hope Amazon matches!

  • Would recommend to grab a jar of kimchi & make a hotpot or even budae jjigae with this beauty. So flavoursome.

  • +8

For cooking tips, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Youtube video with "cooking hacks" for Shin Ramyun. https://youtu.be/8krT-dli1-A

Love that YouTube channel (I am not in anyway affiliated). The milk ramen is dead easy to make and very good (the milk help cuts down on the spice a bit too, but not a huge amount). The soup is thicker as well (never had the Black version, but perhaps it has powdered milk).

    • +2

      did someone say MILK ramen?

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl23vyRBxEI

(ps. peanut butter is another good way to thicken up the soup, add extra flavor and reduce spiciness)

      • Best YouTube video I've seen all month by far! That is a must watch! Maru Uma!

  • +3

Is this the best noodles in Coles?

  • I hope I don’t forget about this in 3 days.
I have a tip just in case you find this too spicy.
Cook noodles with only half the normal water and add only half of the seasoning.
Add an egg and 2 slices of cheese and cover the pan, letting it simmer on low fire until the egg is cooked.
    Perfection!

    • +4

Cook noodles with only half the normal water and add only half of the seasoning.

      That’s same level of spicyness

      • You forgot the eggs and cheese

        • You’re missing the point

    • +3

I do the opposite. I make it with as little water as possible and then add all the spice. So tasty!!

  • Seriously what do people do with these that they're so hyped? I just have them on their own and they're average. An recipes to try that live up to the hype?

    • +1

It’s for people who like spicy noodles

    • Cheese, Milk or adding an egg will make it better.

    • It's decent and great value at $3.

I like the Japanese Black garlic ramen and jazz that one up too.

    • +1

As someone who lived in Korea for years, I couldn't agree more. There are so many ramyuns from Korea that taste better.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

Just in time, all out of instant noodles at home. Pandemic has increased consumption rate lately. 😅

  • +1

Put an egg or milk or coconut cream to reduce spiciness.

  • I'm a spice weakling :^( ; why o why don't the mild versions eg. Chapaghetti ever go on sale?

    • +1

They have it in costco around $11 for a 20 pack box. haha

      • Thanks iplau, good to know.

      • Is it every day price at Costco?

        • +1

No. Regular price is around $15.

  • +1

My wife is super healthy. She just uses soya sauce. Lol.

  • +1

this is literally the only brand of instant noodles my family and I eat.

  • +2

Thanks. I cleaned up the shelf at my local Coles at 7 in the morning.

  • +1
