Great price if you can find it, and the $5.20 unlock works well too.

  • I saw this for sale at my Local Australia Post and it was advertised as $230 so maybe not australia wide?

    • The black or the blue? If it's the black they should price match it instore.

      • I didn't get a good look, I was just there an hour ago. So hopefully they will price match

    • You may have been looking at the Telstra version of the same product - I just checked my local and the Telstra locked was $229 with no stock of the Vodaphone one

  • +2

Spent 25 minutes on hold to finally get through and be told that they don't have any stock of the black phone in Perth. They've still got some of the blue but they're still selling for $229 unfortunately.

    Unlucky!

  • Anyone lucky enough to find stock in their local store ? Nothing in Granville, NSW store if anyone was thinking of checking that store

    • +1

Two units in the display cabinet at Canberra GPO around 9am this morning, if anyone is after one.

      • Managed to grab one from Parramatta Westfield store. They still have couple more

  • With these being Vodafone or Telstra (when those come up on special), is it that the firmware is also branded to those carriers so you get the splash screens etc of that provider?

Or is it just that the phone is locked to that network which can be bypassed as per the provided links by the OP?

    • Could be wrong, but traditionally it's just the $5 hoop you've gotta jump through to get an otherwise completely unlocked phone (aka no splash screen).

      • Cool, that is what I was hoping. If anyone who has purchased past Voda or Telstra deals for this phone could confirm that would be great.

        • +2

I have purchased a few of these for myself & family members. There is no branding or splash screen.

      • The Vodafone locked version may be just $5 to unlock, but after trying a couple of third party unlock services I found that the Telstra version cannot be unlocked unless you pay Telstra $80, or $25 after you've had a service-connected for over 6 months, and that's if you can get anyone in Telstra to do it since their phone service unlock team is overseas and has been unreachable since Covid-19 began. And you cannot even use an Aldi sim with it. Unless one is with Telstra, best to avoid the Telstra locked A20.

The Telstra locked Samsung Galaxy A20 can be unlocked via Fonefunshop for ~$5.00.
Confirmed by members here & here.

          • @Arthur Dunger: Many thanks for that. It's for a friend's phone which I tried helping him to unlock late last year but did not come across FoneFunShop at the time.
Recently he told me that he can't even find anyone to unlock it at Telstra even at their full asking price of $80. I'll let him know about this and give FoneFunShop's $5.50 Samsung Unlock Server a go when he brings his phone over.

  • I have had a few of these phones for my parents and have they sort out their GPS problems yet?

    • +3

I can't answer that because I don't know your parents.

  • +2

the value on these phones is incredible, its the same industry leading oled screen and camera as the s10, which means i dont have to squint or put my reading glasses on in my dotage, fingerprint scanner, face unlock ultra megapixel camera it and quickcharge with usb3.1 has all the bells and whistles but its just not a fast phone, web browsers and games are snappy when loaded but taking a photo, unlocking with fingerprint or face and launching apps or cqmera have a slight delay, videos and photos are same as s10, the quality is assured
however the sound is perhaps not as loud as other phones, its functional, maybe above average but not by much

if you dont care much about having a super fast phone, but care more about the camera and screen experience, reading writing txts and watching videos, with the latest security features and decent navigation then 160 dollars for this phone is an absolute steal, its not a slow phone, its just not fast

edited i forgot to mention its pretty sleek quite a thin phone and it needs a daily charge for heavy use,

  • I guess it has Android 10 and one UI2.0?

Also Aldi doesn't work with the locked Telstra version what about Boost mobile, by chance anyone try or know?

    • yes, Boost works fine on Telstra-locked phones (first hand xp)

    • To answer my own question,.. yes the A20 comes with Android 9 and can be upgradable to Android 10 One UI2.0

And found it ran smoother after I did upgrade

Thanks but how would a Telstra rep know which Aus Post shops had the Vodafone Galaxy A20?

      • +1

        Whoops, meant Aus Post! šŸ¤£

  • +1

Parramatta nsw still has a few

  • +1

Anyone got a list for NSW?

    • As jso said, NSW list would be much appreciated - just called and they said their system can't show them at present - underwhelming after 20mins on hold. Chat system seems non-responsive.

      • +1

I found a helpful customer service person using the online chat. But they only gave me a single store, not a list. Also they can't see the franchises, just real stores.

Tip: you have to type "can i speak to an agent" to get past the bot.

        • Yeh, or just 'agent'..

I got lucky - the person who helped me typed up the entire list. šŸ˜Š

  • first time poster here. Ive managed to score the vodafone samsung a20 v phone at miller post office yesterday

now people say you can unlock it for $5 at fonefunshop, but when i try it ask for 37 USD

am i doing something wrong here

    • Follow the link in my description to the Fonefunshop post and it you will find it. Don't forget to enter the code for 10% discount.

Someone ahead of me bought all three from the store in Rhodes. But I found one in another store.

  • On Australia post website the A20 Telstra locked version shows a price of $229, did that show previously on sale at $159 and has now ended if anyone knows? Umm there's the A30 on Australia Post any major difference to the A20? Gotta get a replacement mobile for mum šŸ‘

    • Don't know about the Telstra one, but this deal is for the Vodafone one.
It has exactly the same network bands as the Telstra one, so will be fine on the Telstra network once unlocked.
The A30 is a bit more powerful, higher res screen and better camera.

  • Wow was $119 @ Coles recently what a miss
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/542447

    • they're all starting to go on clearance for the new samsung budget line.

  • I got the last one in Kew, Vic. Also, not in stock at Doncaster.
I also got a free unlock code from Vodafone website :)

  • Free unlock code from Vodafone website?, may we ask how we do this by chance you wouldn't have a direct web link to Vodafone website? Cheers Ed

      • Funny Vodafone website is asking for $25 to unlock šŸ˜

Edit: Reading on Vodafone web site details about unlocking, I'm guessing either you activated the SIM with the A20 or you already have an existing plan with Vodafone and logged into your account when entering IMEI code, as only way I can see it too be free unless I'm missing something?

        • I got very lucky that their system identified my IMEI the way it did. Most of the time, it does cost $25 or $50.

  • Managed to pick one up from Knox Shopping Centre AusPost. Had the original price ($229 I think) marked on the shelf, but scanned at $159.
    Thanks!

  • In terms of processor speed better this at $159 or Realme C3 at $169?

  • Managed too get one luckily as Watergardens Australia Post didn't have any and they called Melton Australia Post and they had 2x left, by the time I got there the other one was reserved for someone else

Overall not a bad mobile, already upgraded it too Android 10 and UI2.0 and now feels like its runming a tad faster, but I also removed as many apps out of it as possible as it's for my mum, I'm very impressed even if I had too pay $229

  • +2

Thanks OP. I just got one from Fyshwick, ACT. Vodafone gave me free unlock code, too. I chose "bought from Vodafone Australia" when asked on the unlock webpage.

  • Once unlocked does all the Vodafone bloat wear still remain?

    • There are only two Vodafone apps installed and can easily be uninstalled, actually most apps can be uninstalled both google and Samsung apps but found funny microsoft onedrive can't be un-installed so I just disabled it, though in future you might need it as Samsung's cloud service too back up your phones setup, settings and contacts etc will be moving too microsoft onedrive and some apps that are not part off the A20 I actually grabbed from my Note 9

Also noticed no Home button from lock screen like my Note 9 have too double tap screen too wake up which is no biggy

  • No stock at Chadstone Shopping Centre post office this morning. They said they didn't get any A20s.

  • Has anyone unlocked and are using Kogan mobile prepaid SIM successfully?

    • Kogan will work without unlocking as it's on the Vodafone network.
Can confirm because I tried it before unlocking my one.

  • Just checked - Melb 111 Bourke St - No stock
