any deals on the S5 Max? I hear that is the best version so far.

    • Yes me too waiting for a deal on s5 max. Haven't seen it below $999 from Oz sellers. Aliexpress and Toby deals have International versions @ ~$649. Not keen on that due warranty hassles tbh.

I see one here for $800 with $100 ebay gift card and Sydney stock. Not sure if worth a shot.

not too bad considering its coming down in price from a gorilla. I assume its from the official AU sellers ebay store.

          This is good deal

      • Roborock had 15% off on the S5 Max in conjunction with their recent promo of the S6 pure. Ended up being $150ish difference compared the S6 Pure.

    • no idea - sorry…

    • how is it better than s6

      • +2

Better mopping attachment is one of the main differences. Essentially the mopping function can be turned on and off for no mop zones compared to the S6 which cannot and so you'd manually have to switch between hard floors (mop and vacuum) and carpet where you'd wouldn't really want to mop. Vacuum Wars on youtube is a great source for comparisons and reviews. I'd recommend it if you're considering purchasing a vacuum robot or other style vacuums.

I too the plunge and bought the S5 Max they have already sent a tracking number, looks like more people are buying that due to the better mopping functions, I read the S6 can also drip water if there is any in the tank and only vacuuming.

Thanks for the tip on Vacuum Wars! Great source of info, I'm going through some of their stuff now. Much better than looking for random reviewers each time, these guys are great.

  • had good dealing with flora livings on when i picked up my roborock s5. replaced an irobot 980 highly recommend these roborock vacs

  • Roborock or deebot?
There are deebot deals on Amazon as well, 920 and 950.

    • I've chosen the Deebot 950 from Amazon for $799 (and $42 back Cashrewards). Though they haven't charged me yet so hopefully it's all ok.
The Deebot seems to have the measure of the current gen Roborock and Roomba according to Vacuum Wars Youtube: https://youtu.be/IZuHgVoJnok

      • From the research I have done, I couldn't find a clear table comparing the two but from some videos and comments, I can gather both are very similar, but Roborock slightly edges out in performance and has more frequent updates.

      • Thanks. I read through the comments on that video and quite a few people mentioned that the deebot app was not very good.

  • What do these robovacs do if they encounter spilled liquids whilst doing vacuum function? They just spread it everwhere?

    • curious to know this too

Yes they will. And for some real fun, search YouTube for "robot vacuum dog poo".
They aren't a complete set and forget device. You'll need to prep a little bit, like clear the floor of things like cables and floor clutter, empty the dust bins regularly etc

    • Not the latest models from various manufacturers that have camera and image recognition built in (and dog poo being part of the image database).

      • Definitely true, and a lot of potential - but a) do you want a roaming camera and microphone beaconing back to Chinese cloud infrastructure, and b) early testing has shown them to be not super accurate as yet.

i.e. they still get caught up in cables, and they may not detect a poo that doesn't look exactly like what they expect (and often even if does). And I figure if it doesn't work close to 100%, you can't really trust it enough to go around the house without some supervision, so it defeats the purpose.

        • Correct. AI is still evolving so its a hit n miss, even in high risk scenarios like autonomous driving.
As for privacy, IMHO its overrated. We gladly hand over our lives to google, apple and facebook (and NSA) and yet somehow commies are the bad guys :)

  • Wonder when they’ll dip below $600.
