Without GST, this is literally USD $50 over the launch MSRP for the 2070 Super, and also over the launch MSRP for the card. Do not promote eating the freight costs retailers and suppliers paid because they weren't savvy with their business.

      Could you explain please?

Please listen to this while reading:

        [extremely narrator voice]

The whole world has been in lock down due to deadly virus: commercial flights - which carry a large portion of air freight - and sea freight have significantly decreased. The demand for PC gaming parts has soared because anyone under the age of 40 is bored out of their mind 50-70% of the day, and thanks to our new lord and saviour the Internet, they have the inventiveness of a sloth in a medical coma.

"I KNOW!", shouts a retailer with dollar signs in his eyes, "I'll order more cards now and make good on my margins after losing all that money in the aftermath of the crypto crash! Finally, a ray of sunshine in my bleak, ultra-competitive existence where I regularly dupe consumers into thinking they're getting a discount!"

Little did this one retailer know, that 1000 people just like him had the same idea, and so as he went from freight service to freight service, service class to service class, the price of shipping these items promptly soared due to scarcity of space on planes and ships. "Life is hard," sighed the retailer, "why can't it be just like with parts? Then I'd pick the RGB one and middle-class mothers will buy it for their screaming children."

Eventually, like most of the people buying from him, he lost his patience for exercising his market power as a buyer by withholding purchase, and instead bought a shipment. "Just a little bit north of the budget class, so people won't turn their nose up at it," nodding as he explained his thought process, "… but just cheap enough that they give me some of their JobKeeper payments."

And so began the tale of how Robbo the Retailer bought a bunch of 2070 Super cards for a 20% markup.

        • Sad but true, but I digress, "they can have all of my Jobseeker money for all I care, RTX Minecraft is not a need but a necessity!"

Damn this "current market". I bought this card last November for more than $100 less, and the free SSD I got was 1TB. Fair warning to others, the SSD will take months to arrive and you need to be quick with the redemption process as it's a "while stocks last" kinda thing.

The price did not go up $200 because of freight. The prices of everything went up because manufacturers couldn't meet demand so they increased prices to compensate. This is called 'supply and demand' and it's happened many times throughout history with not just PC components but many other industries too.

You might want to keep reading a bit, but there are also things called 'rebates' too. Cheers though!

or get the gigabyte 5700xt for $658.56 , which is better value.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gigabyte-Radeon-RX-5700-XT-GAMIN…

  • Good price!

  • Which is better, this or the Windforce?

    • -7

A 5700 XT is better and cheaper.

      • +5

It's cheaper and better value but not better.

    • "Super Gaming" usually has higher clock speeds than the "Windforce" models

    • Windforce version are usually much cheaper since they're lower binned, smaller heatsink and smaller fans. So compare to a Gaming OC it will run hotter at ever so slightly lower clock.

    2017-2020
Do I need an upgrade? Probably not.
Do I want an upgrade? Yes

    2017
Lets wait until the mining boom is over. 1080ti is $1000

    2018
    Lets wait for RTX,
    2080ti was $2000
Old GPU prices didnt drop much so let wait for a bit longer

    2019
Lets wait for RX5700 and super cards

    2020
Maybe i will get a 5600xt or 2060 becasue AUD dropped so much
    Corona Virus
Lets wait for Covid-19 to be over

    2021
Lets wait for RTX3000 series and RDNA2
    Oh sh*t RTX3080ti is $3000
Let's wait for a bit longer.

      Oh sh*t RTX3080ti is $3000

Will probably be a $2000 card at launch, but just get the 3080 and get 80% of the performance for about half the price. Will be a legit 4k120 card.

      • 3080Ti at $2000 and 2080 at $1000 which 4K 120, hahaha, I think you are dreaming

        • On the GA100, the silicon process is 2.5x more dense (i.e. 40% of the size of the process used for the RTX 20 series for the same number of transistors), and the silicon wafer is well less than double the price. It's possible other processes might be used for the smaller chips, but most of them won't be dramatically different and all of them will hold a node advantage of RDNA1.

50% more SMs on the 3080 than the 2080, which puts it over the 2080Ti before you consider improved VRAM and GPU clocks, and architectural changes, then there's improved DLSS through better Tensor cores, more raytracing performance through better RT cores.

Go read about GA100, and then rumours on GA102 coming out of Taiwan. I'd recommend what's on VideoCardz.com as they actually collate what's around, then check and confirm what they can. You've clearly got no idea.

I bought everything for my new build in Nov/Dec last year, including this exact same card, I find the price for the parts are only getting higher than what I paid for… first time I have seen in PC industry.

It was listed $849 on eBay with 20% off discount 😁😁😁

    • Pandemic and poor aud/usd will do that.

    • +1

Not sure why I got neg'ed, I wasn't saying this is a bad deal or not a good deal.

Can I not say I bought bit for less than $700 just about 6 months before?

  • IS THERE A WHITE VERSION?

    • Bought this for $939 before they increased the price and ran out of stock.

  • There are no more redemption coupons on the site. I claimed when there were 40 left and I just checked the page no more redemption codes.

  • still crazy price though aud rate is not bad recently, 9 month ago it's around $680.

    • I went to the USA when the AUD was abovd the USD. Good times.

      • that's 9 years ago, here is 9 months; no need to mentioned the depreciation of such computer part, so could wait for release if 30x0 series after 3 month if no rush.
