  • Damn, was looking for a deal on the day and dusk!

    Same price at Bunnings

    • Me too, got a couple of these on the last deal, and although they have been useful in my two desk lamps, I love day and dusk for elsewhere. Got colour at first and never use anything but day and dusk colours.

      • hmm thanks for the idea i was thinking to get colour but then i feel my real need is just day and dusk, colours are just probably used once in a blue moon. kind of cool stuffs for first few days and then wont be using it again.
better get this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/545277 less than half of the colours from most brands

  • do these work with Tuya and/or amazon app?

    • +1

You need Lifx App to manage these lights.
Later you can add Lifx Skill in Amazon App.

  • why they make just warm white not all the way from warm to cool white….

    • They do. The bulb is called "Day & Dusk".

      • i see. too bad this one is not d and d

    • This is just the warm white model. i believe they have a day and dusk model which gives you the white variance levels.

Does anyone have this warm white bulb? If so, whats the general feedback? i use these type of bulbs throughout the home in lamps with the same lumen and was looking for a smart bulb like this. I was tied between getting a wifi based light or a zigbee system.

      • I am using a couple of of them & no complaints so far

        • Thanks mate. I'll bite the bullet and go LIFX. For this price i can do the whole apartment for the same price as the hue/3 colour pack.

I have progressively been smart homing over the last 18months or so. Now all my lifx bulbs sit in a draw (along with all my other kogan/generic bulbs), replaced by hue.

I use google and smartthings and I just found better automation solutions with hue, and they are faster to respond in my situations.

Generally, I was happy with the lifx stuff when used by themselves with the lifx app. They are generally expensive for what you get though IMO.

        • Any specific examples of how Hue is better?

I have a n00b question, do these lights mean you can no longer use your light switch?
That seems like it would be annoying…

          • +1

@fredblogs: stil can use switch , omg

            • +1

@CyberMurning: lol @ omg. How do you turn the light back on from an app if you've turned it off at the switch?

              • +1

@fredblogs: well of course you need to leave the switch on, but you still can use the switch if that is what you were asking.

                • +1

@CyberMurning: Yeah, I should've phrased it as "can you use the light switch and app interchangeably", and seems like the answer is no.

          • @fredblogs: I wouldn't say better as such, just works better for me. I was doing things like making lights pulse when I pressed a button as a warning to the kids that it is nearly bedtime. Smartthings (webcore) worked better or had better control over the hue. Lifx would not respond correctly 100% of the time.

You can still use your switch, but if the switch is off, the light won't work until it's on.

            • @MagicMikez32: Re bedtime, "hey google set a timer for 5 minutes" has worked wonders in my house.

        • How was hue better for you?

I was thinking about hue because of zigbee and a dedicated hub. but i only have around 8 bulbs in the home so i thought a hue maybe overkill.

Do you use any sensor integration?

          • @rollin: I do use mostly smartthings sensors and buttons. I found that hue responded fastest and was more reliable. I also use hue dimmers around the place for custom buttons. They are a bit of a stuff around to get working and not so reliable, but they aren't being used as intended. When used talking to the hue bridge they work fine, I have them paired to the smartthings hub.
