  • What does the GPS mean? as I know, no app for this model.

    • +1

GPS data logging module (logs speed and heading etc). It replaces the standard mount as well

    • +1

You can get latitude/longitude, speed etc on your footage

  • +2

    @nocure

The Link Description for the A119 V3 states 'Dual' (dual channel perhaps) but instead links to the standard A119V3

  • +1

What does the 'dual' mean @nocure? I assumed it was dual cameras, but link takes me to A119

  • Can any comment on / does anyone have experience with the Viofo brand wrt quality, reliability, etc?

    • +1

      Solid.

Gonna buy one to replace A119. Died recently after 3 years.

    • +1

It's one of the best dashcam brands right now.

    • +1

Very good quality, reliable and excellent price.
(I have purchased 5 Viofo camera have in family cars for last 3 to 4 years)

    • +2

Bought two of the A119 V2 two years ago based on an Ozbargain recommendation. Both still going strong. No Ragrets.

    • Had the GPS component last about 3 months before failing. Camera still going strong after 18 months.

  • +1

Not sure if anyone is interested in the 4K Dual camera version but if so it's currently included in the Ebaby Plus 20% discount at the following link:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VIOFO-A129-PRO-DUO-ULTRA-4K-Dash…

    $389 with free shipping via Ebay Plus - 20% (code: PMON20) = $311.20

    • -2

Kogan was selling their 4k dual camera one for $199 recently.

      • Are you use that was the 4K version? I've never seen it that low before.

Perhaps you were looking at the A129 Duo (not the A129 PRO Duo?)… the names of these products are not great… hahaha

Currently, Kogan is selling the 4K camera for what they claim is there lowest price of $319.99, but this price is for the unit only! it does not include the additional hardware wiring kit nor a 64GB SD-Card that the Ebay deal does for less ($311.20).

If they have been as low as $199 I will definitely be keen to get one at that price as I currently have the older A129 1080P version myself…

        Cheers :-)

        • Yep it sure was. I checked a sale link a few days back and Kogan had it reduces to $199. I've seen lots of their things half in price temporarily for a sale. Kinda nuts sometimes but it is what it is.

          • @Oofy Doofy: It was the single front a129 pro unit only, not the a129 pro duo which includes both front and rear camera.

      • +3

It's not comparable to the Viofo A129 Pro
It can't be compared just on brand alone, Viofo are one the most well regarded brands for value dash cams after releasing reliable models for the past ~5 years.
Kogan are one of the worst regarded retailers in the history of Australia.

The Viofo has a high quality 8 Megapixel Sony image sensor
The Kogan has a OV4689 4-megapixel CMOS sensor which isn't even enough for 4K (8MP is required to record 4K)
The Kogan's listed maximum resolution is 3200 x 1800P, which is ~3K not 4K. And it must be upscaled because a 4 Megapixel sensor isn't enough to record at that resolution.

The Viofo has quality glass lenses, a proper detached rear camera to go on the rear window, GPS, proper parking mode with the required hardwire kit, a 2 inch HD screen and WiFi with App connectivity.

        • -1

I wasn't comparing it, I just mentioned that Kogan had their 4k (erm, 3k) dashcam on sale etc…

    • Only $304 delivered direct on the site: http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/product.php?id=434848

      No eBay Plus required.

    VIOFO A119 V3
I bought the above model maybe six or so months ago, after a month of owning it the screen would not turn on, I contacted them through the website and some troubleshooting, they then replaced it and I returned the faulty unit. my experience since that point has been positive, haven't needed to rely on it yet. Some YouTube videos out there on the video quality and I can say it's the same as what they say. Aside from one hiccup and a good experience with their warranty, so far so good

    • +1

Thanks for sharing! When you said 'Contacted them through the website' - who are them? Shopping Square or Viofo?

      • +1

        Viofo

        • Did you buy the camera from Viofo or Shopping Square?
Does Viofo have local Australian support or did you have to send faulty unit overseas?
          Thanks

    • I bought it from eBay 4 years back. I recently got an issue and contacted Viofo directly. Got swift reply and fix was bang on. I recommend Viofo to everyone.

      • What was the issue and how did they resolve it?

  • +2

Also for those who have the engine stop-start fuel saving feature in their car, this will trigger the camera to turn on/off if you are also not running the camera's parking mode and it gets really annoying and probably isnt good for the memory card as well.

Contact Viofo Support and mention the above and they'll send you a custom firmware with a custom setting that keeps the camera on for X amount of seconds (Cant remember, think it was 120secs) if it detects the ignition is off and when the engine 'start' feature kicks in, the camera is still rolling as per normal.

Also note, you need to run the 3 wire hard wiring kit though as it needs that ignition source wire

    • I have a Viofo A119 V2 and my car does auto start up. Camera has never stopped recording

      • neither has mine.

    • +1

Also for those who have the engine stop-start fuel saving feature in their car, this will trigger the camera to turn on/off if you are also not running the camera's parking mode

Where is the camera wired to? It might not be wired correctly. It shouldn't switch off as other devices in the car (e.g. the radio) don't turn off when you're stopped at the lights.

    • Does this only happen because you have run the 3 wire kit instead of getting power from 12v socket?

      • Yes. I think Neilgero has hard wired it and it nofity camera when the engine is on or off. With 12 v socket, as it has the power all the time, it does not matter.

    • Did you hard wire camera yourself or via a mechanic?

  • +11

If you want a hardwire kit with the A119 v3 use this link.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VIOFO-A119-V3-GPS-Dash-Camera-Re…

    $151.99 with PMON20

    (GPS, Hardwire Kit & 64GB)

    • Thanks for this! I've been looking for a decent deal for the a129 duo with HW kit and didn't realise there was a coupon going around

    • Hardlynormal post seems better deal with Pmon20 (ebayplus) if you are looking for bundle with 64GB + hk3 hardware kit $151.99.
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VIOFO-A119-V3-GPS-Dash-Camera-Re…

For comparison on prices of each device I found:

      HK3 Hardwire kit - $17.79 (banggood + shipping)
      Samsung Evo Plus 64GB $18.99 (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/292286491531)
Viofo 119 v3 with gps $$135.20 (discount applied on viofo au website)
      Total = $171.98

      Thanks HArdlyNormal.

    • The Viofo hardwire kit is good too, much higher quality than previous generic ones I have used.

      • it still lack some component to attach to the fuse box.

Where to source the missing connectors to fuse box ?

        Care to share links?

I still watch video on how ot remove the side trims as it has airbags to run the cables.

First time i will try to hardwire something in a car.

  • Is the V2 still worth getting these days? It's a pretty reasonable price, although V3 seems a bit expensive (do they all come with GPS or is it an added extra?)

  • +1

Combines nicely with this SD card https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/545670

  • Helpful information here.

  • +1

Does seller ship from Australia or from China?

    • Listing states ships from Australia.
Estimated Handling Time: 3 - 10 Working Days

  • Excellent Price, I paid $175 for V3, SD Card and Hardwiring Kit not long ago.

    • with ebay plus, this bundle goes down to $151.99

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VIOFO-A119-V3-GPS-Dash-Camera-Re…

Did you hardwire it youtrself ?

Is it possible to switch off the HK3 hardwire kit like if you are park in your own garage and turn off the dash cam.

      • You can turn parking mode on or off from the menu.
You can also set what style of recording the camera will do in parking mode (eg time-lapse, motion detection)
You can also set the cut-off voltage on the hardwire kit, which will switch off the camera when the battery reaches the threshold voltage.

        • thanks

      • Yes I believe you can turn off the whole 'parking recording' feature.
Alternatively you can just unplug the dashcam or undock it from the GPS dock.

  • Any opinions on 119v3 vs 129?

    • 119v3 has 1440p so it has a slight edge in fine detail for zooming in on license plates.
129 only has 1080p60, but it has wifi, so you can look at video on your phone. You can get it with or without a rear cam. You can buy the rear cam separately too, as a future upgrade.
      Everything else is the same.

  • Is $128 good price? I look at other topics and can see it's around $11x.

  • +2

Might be a stupid question. But I wanted a dual cam for front and back. Is the back cam the same? Or different to the front one.

    • Hey
I had a similar question before!
From what I understand, it depends on your needs.
      Option 1 version:
      - front + back (Rear) dashcam - so that's when there are two separate parts and one camera is attached to the front and one camera on the rear, and it gets connected via cables together
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VIOFO-A129-Pro-Duo-Ultra-4K-Dash…

      Option 2 version:
      - front + back view - so that's a single camera attached at the front and then it has another back-viewing camera which predominantly captures what's going on inside the car as opposed to what's happening outside (rear) of the car
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VIOFO-A119-V2-DashCam-FHD-2k-144…

I guess it depends on your needs and what you're looking for.
      Hope that helps :)

How do cable front and back? You need to do it very well without stuffing up your door and lining of your interior. It's a professional job

    • There is no back can. The 119v is a single cam. You'll need the 129 duo for front and back (but it's not as good)

      • Thanks for the correction

Was about to buy and then checked this seller's reviews on product reviews (scary) and ended up buying from an Amazon seller with great reviews and fast delivery for extra $10.

A119 V2 is being sold by this seller for $98.95 + $9.99 shipping making it $108.94 with longer delivery times.

Amazon is selling for $119 including delivery by 24 June. Also don't forget cashback from Shopback.

    • -1

      Electronics aren't included in Shopback.

  • I found that it was handy to import videos directly from the Dashcam to my iPhone via an App, this doesn’t look like it has wireless.

    Doesn’t this bother anyone?

    • +1

It depends on how often the user needs to look at footage.
It is also easy to pop out the sd card and into a computer. Some may prefer the cost savings over convenience of an app.

  • No more V3 :(

  • +2

Beware of ordering through the Shoppingsquare website directly. Ordered this exact product and on receiving a white-screen-of-death unit, theyre attempting to wriggle out of their responsibilities under ACL.

Best to use ebay for product/return shipping protection unless you enjoy wasting your time.

    Never again.

    • Shopping Square is a drop-shipping Chinese company that sells under different names. OZB is full of negative comments about them.
I highly value after sales support and Shopping Square is not the one providing it.

  • Same price on eBay via 20% eBayPlus "discount" for A119 V2.

VIOFO AU is having 20% off now for their dash cam in their website.. Code is 2020OFF.

    Bringing A119 v3 down to about $135

    • It seems the viofo A119v3 aus website is cheaper free shipping for $135.20
      SS shipping +$9.99

Is it adviceable to get the hw kit?

We do not use the car everyday.

What type of sdcard req is needed? Does it need to be u3 or u1 is enough.

    • For those who want a better deal, use this link below to get it directly. I got one thanks hoaemhuff!

      https://www.viofo.com.au/product/a119-v3-quad-hd-30fps-car-d…

The only thing is whether to get the 2nd camera or not, any ideas?

  • xiaomi vs viofo? why?

    • Prefer viofo due to compact size

  • My car has frit on the windshield and its up to below the rearview mirror so if i avoid the frit, I cant hde the dashcam at the back of the rear view mirror and it will show just below the rearview mirror.

Is it ok to stick the dashcam on the frit?

What if I am going ot remove the adhesive on the dashcam and my worry is that it may also damage the frit.

Also the hardwire kit doesnt include the connector to the fuse box.

    • should be fine. You could apply a plastic screen protector or contact paper on the frit, then stick the dashcam on the screen protector. In the case of removal, it is as easy as removing the screen protector.

Hardwire kit and fuse tap are different products.

  • Finally shipped today, over 2 weeks after I ordered. Top tier service.
