  • Excellent price for the dash cam and power magic. Mine Worked flawlessly for past 2 years.

  • How much is installation?

    • $140 for installation, no discount on labour.

Autobarn are franchised and some managers have just included PMP's at no extra cost in the past even after the 'bonus PMP' promotions have ended. This is a good deal for arguably the best dashcam on the market, $140 for install is good too. With the amount of scumbag people in the world today who hit and run, all decent vehicles should be fitted with a front and back dashcam with parking mode. Cheap peace of mind really, all it takes is one incident and you are ahead.

Not to mention scumbag insurance companies who can't be trusted either

is this the ozbargain community choice for dashcams? been looking to pull the trigger on one but haven't researched enough into it, and everything sounds a bit confusing. recall some people mentioning "capacitors" due to australian heat? got no idea, but the price on this one seems really steep compared to some of the other ones on the market…would appreciate the comments

    • I did several bunches of research and went for the BlackVue 750s a year ago because the 900 did have a few issues with overheating and overall it has been an excellent dashcam. The most annoying thing about dashcams is that I assumed that they record incidents when the car is parked (parking mode), but they dont, so this cam comes with the a Power Magic Pro option which has been a bonus for a while. It connects your camera to your cars electrical wiring so is always ready to record when your away from your car.

The memory cards are very expensive, but I noticed I could get high-capacity "endurance" cards for much less than BlackVue branded cards.

      • Do you have a link to the SD cards you are using. There is an added cost for these Cams as the cards to die.

I have a Blackvue 600 still going strong since 2014, car is permanently parked outside. I purchased a good quality SD card and it too has been going strong for years. Every now and then I re-format the card by holding down the button on camera for 10 seconds. I never use the Blackvue app, only used it for setup. After the novelty wears off, you never bother watching the recordings unless there's an incident.

Also I don't understand why people get rear cameras. What happens behind you is not worth recording. I suppose if you want to record 24/7 for surveillance purposes that might be a reason, but at that point you're no longer in "dash cam" land, but in security surveillance land.

30% off all dash cams at the moment, so the 900 is a pretty good price as well depending on SD card size.
Bonus if you score the PMP free!

    • Isn't the 900 still having various issues. First it was overheating and then it was something else (I forget) but I just remember it was a good enough reason to stick with the 750 for now.

      • +3

I have the DR900’s 2 channel (front and back) professionally installed on 3 different cars and have no issues. Have had to change the SD card once but that’s it.

        No shut downs or overheating.

All 3 cars also have PMP installed as well.

P.S. the dash cams on my cars are close to two years old since installation, bought close to when the model was first released.

So take online reviews with a grain of salt, user experience varies. Some are lucky with no issues, some might receive lemons.

        • Good to know thanks

  • I was desperately hoping they had the LTE 4G version so I could insert a sim card and view incidents as I am alerted to them

    • +1

i bought mine off ebay from dashcamsaustralia when they had the 10% off afterpay promo

  • Is it come with power magic pro?

Does it support 64gb or more?

    • Read the OP?
He got the PMP for $15 but will vary on the store. May even get it free…

Can get it with a 64gb card for $475 and 128gb for $545 for the twin cams.

  • +2

Any chance of uploading a receipt with the PMP price OP?

  • Is 32gb realistically sufficient? How long of a footage does it store in a 32gb sd? Thanks

    • About 8 hours

    • Just recently got one, getting 2.5 hrs for 2CH on highest resolution… looking into getting a larger memory but not in a rush to as yet

    • No. But save lots of $$$ and don't get a blackvue memory card…

The reason that a lower capacity may not be suitable also has to do with how many times you clear the video when an event causes it to record. In the case of my friend, his music was always played loud, so his camera was always recording lots of footage and he had to manually delete it a lot until we turned down the sensitivity.

  • Does anyone have their dashcams recording 24/7 or is that not practical?

  • +1

Has anyone tried going to autobarn to get the same deal?

    • My local wouldn’t do it

      • My one wouldn't do it either

    • Autobarn chadstone would only go down to $40 for the PMP

    • No deal at the Altona store. They said the were already losing money with the 30%. Anyone with success matching the price of the receipt in Melbourne?

  • Just wondering that the blackvues have different size variants of 32, 64 and 128gb. Is that just the size of the memory card you get given?

    • Yes, 100% the same except for the card. Although it is often much cheaper to buy a endurance-based memory card than the blackvue with the higher capacity.

  • I managed to get just the PMP price matched in Sydney. They were extremely reluctant though as I didn't buy the dash cam from the same store. The original store I got the dash cam got didn't have a PMP in stock and didn't want to order it in.

    • @phoenix17 which store in sydney?

  • Nooooo. I missed it. I was looking forward to it. I was going to get it today didn't realise it expired. Guess I will just have to wait for the next round.
For those who got it - how is it?

  • i had ordered through Autobarn during this deal for click & collect and still havent got it. I have been chasing them to cancel the order and confirm but they havent done that either.
ended up buying from Repco for the same price during their 30pc off for NRMA members deal.

    • I'll be happy to purchase it off via PM if you want to discuss I was looking at this
