      those deals are in the US, unless you are talking about monthly installments totaling $200. Given previous iPhone plans, you'd be looking at $49 per month MINIMUM

        for my iphone 3g I went on a $29 plan and had to buy $280 or something for the phone. could have paid it in monthly installments, but chose to pay it off upfront.

          You keep hammering this example. But inflation + new product launch (vs preceding device) = $$$. I'll be very happy to be proven wrong if the IP4S such a $30 plan exists (doubtful), don't hold your breath, and your example holds no relevance.

        Except virgin mobile who came out with $44 per month but ditched that plan after enormous demand… (i'm lucky they honour the $44 for me)

        nothing wrong with the deal. but, die hard fans prefer to line up in front of apple store - days before it opens with the risk of sore feet, pneumonia up to disowned by family.

          I doubt the iPhone 4S(ux) will be overshadowing any device pretty soon.

          Marketing Ploy? Seriously, since the disappointment of the new iPhone, it would have been much more profitable for Samsung/Google to release as soon as possible after the iPhone launch.

          More people have been looking to other smartphone devices after the iPhone launch(check the iPhone 4S whirlpool thread) and the Nexus prime would be the perfect device if it has the exynos chip and the PowerVR SGX543MP2.

          just like I bet apple probably delayed the announcement about Steve jobs so it wouldn't overshadow the launch, just my theory… there was nothing specific about the time he actually passed…

    doesn't work i tried on vodafone site states "Sorry, the code that you entered has not been applied. Please check the code, its expiry date or the caps lock feature on your keyboard"

    I know this is a different phone but what deals do you plan to do with the Nokia N9? At the moment I can get it for $800 upfront with my own plan it totals $1040 over 12 months or $1280 over 24, any chance of beating this? I'm looking at the 64GB version and my plan is $450 call and 1.5GB data.

      Pretty sure we will be able to beat it, but we don't know have a release date for Nokia N9.

        yep LC is definately the way to go, great value with no fixed contract. $20 a month will get you alot of data and good amount of voice/text.

        Doesn't really concern me to be honest. I feel third party support will come from the community and it should be more than enough to keep the phone going, I also don't believe Nokia will abandon it's users.

        Also from what I've read W7 phones aren't the best, what's nokia thinking?

          Cool, fair enough, to each their own.

          I could see MeeGo getting apps from some dedicated MeeGo developers, but it won't bring in the flood of developers like Apple's AppStore, Android's Market and (one day) Win7 WhateverTheyCallIt will have. Especially now that Nokia have disowned it and decided to become Win7 specialists.

          It's a lot of cash you're spending to get a smartphone and you aren't going to get the most out of it apps-wise… and apps are really what owning a smartphone is all about.

          For $800 upfront you can get yourself some pretty special smartphones from Android or Apple.

          Nice hardware on the N9 though.

          Anyway, I'll stop trying to help now ;-)

          WTF is nokia using last generation CPUs. With Kal-El in the works and A15 also be documented, why could Nokia at use cortex A9.

          Sure the code is more efficient to run, but dual core could have seriously brought some people from other platforms into Nokia.

    Only once you start offering 12 month plans. Optus are the only ones to offer the iPhone on a 12 month plan. I don't want to be locked into any network for that long.

      Yet this "deal" is still here? One could argue it isn't active as the 4S isn't out yet. But i guess the term pre-order solves all?

      All the accessories are most likely the crap you find at paddys markets. Stops working after a week.

IMO, Just because a deal isn't active doesn't mean it shouldn't be here if we know when the phone will be released and the deal will be honoured. 7/11 deals are posted way in advance such as BYO cup deal, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/51950.
