Better off with a Raspberry Pi Zero W

    • +1

      What makes you say that?

      • +5

It's definitely not the abundance of ethernet ports on the Zero W that makes him/her say that.

        • +1

Run Pwnagotchi on my zeroW, once you factor in adapters it is more expensive than this 20 dollar router.

Went on a week long family holiday using this, was stress free. Gave the same SSID name as home, the fleet of devices were none the wiser that they were on a mobile internet

First time waiting list has come through! Got one!

    • Same here, lucky enough to score one from the waiting list

  • So these can pick up hotel WiFi and retransmit your own hotspot?

  • Nice price - we have two.

  • This thing struggles pretty hard running a VPN on it while also rebroadcasting hotel wifi, but without that it goes decent.

  • Also handy for home.
Have one set up with a VPN so can switch between Aus and US Netflix on TV by changing WiFi network.

    • +1

But isnt this very slow on VPN, I struggle to get more than 5-6 Mbps, whereas on a laptop easily get >80Mbps on same VPN !

    • Which VPN do you use?

      • I find it really hit & miss for using Netflix with NordVPN connected to a TV (using the Samsung TV's in-built Netflix app). All of the OpenVPN servers I've loaded get recognised by Netflix & blocked. Would be curious to see how you guys get on with this kind of setup?

        • I have the same problem with nordvpn. Never managed to get it working with my Samsung tv. Even after resetting tv.
          So any advice is appreciated.

        • NordVPN won't work using TV apps. It works fine with browser, but something in the TV apps allows something to leak. The VPN I did manage to get to work via this router with the apps was ExpressVPN, but apparently this provider is also having issues. /r/NetflixViaVPN is now recommending TORGuard, so could try them?

  • how do I use this as a repeater of hotel WiFi when it needs to connect via a captive portal where I enter room number as username, and my surname as password?
