VA panel. Nah. 1080p on 27? Double Nah. Still thanks OP.

Worth waiting for Samsung EPP deal to come
Back in stock for $381? And that’s before a $50 discount via voucher if you sign up. They have the 24 inch back in stock so hoping for more stock of the other models.

    • Crossing my fingers.

27" 1440p @ 144hz VA variant is a better way to go imo

    • link?

      • got one from shoppingexpress a couple weeks ago. hard to find that model in stock anywhere then

      • $381 Samsung EPP (possibly stack $50 off too) but OOS for weeks although I've been manically refreshing everyday

        https://www.samsung.com/au/monitors/curved-gaming-c32jg54qqe…

        • how does epp work? it says 450 dollars for me

          • @zjz93: This old post has more details:
            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/444228

I believe $449 is the RRP for other retailers as you can't purchase directly from Samsung besides EPP login.

            • @Skxkwkei: yeah i just joined samsung epp and i got the 50 dollar voucher along wiht tht 5% off. hopefully it goes back in stock again

              • @zjz93: Back in stock - just picked one up right before 30 June as well.

    1080p so fail….

    • +11

How are these comments helpful? Obviously the market for this kind of panel exists.

It's like saying '4 cylinder so fail…', ignoring that half the world drives a Honda Civic.

      • +4

honestly, once you go to 1440p on 27", you can't go back, but that's for office works.

For gaming, I'm blind they all looks the same, regardless of resolution and quality lol

      • it’s the 240hz g-sync he that has the appeal for people with the right graphics card …

the other things people are offering as alternatives are only 144hz and some are free sync not gsync.

      • Elitists who don't take into consideration other people's needs or don't understand target market. Give him a few years to come back down to reality.

      • -1

It is helpful. 1080p on a 27" will look pixalated, not good.

        • Funnily enough - I agree with you; but that's not what you commented. You just said 1080p was shit altogether, no mention of the size or PPI.

Just feels like you're just trying to flex your expensive monitor, which is… really not the point of OzBargain, mate.

      • +1

Indeed. I've got a 27" 1080p AOC and it looks pretty good to me. 1440p may look better to some but it's also going to be more $$

  • -2

Keep in mind that this monitor has an 11ms response time, which isn't fast enough for 240HZ, not recommended

    • its 4ms?

      • Which still isn't good enough.

        • +1

It is… that's 0.2ms within the window, however this is just Samsung's rating and in reality it will probably actually be 11ms.

  • +11

I'm using a 27" 1080p monitor and have no issues whatsoever and it's easier to play games at max settings. I don't know why everyone makes a big deal of 1080p in what seems like every monitor deal

    • +3

I agreed with you. People dismiss it because it doesn't suit their use case, but there are heaps of people who have under powered machines and should run 1080 monitors.

For example: most teens would love a large high refresh screen to play competitive shooters where they don't care so much or how 'nice' it looks as much as the competitive advantage they'd get with a big high refresh screen.

      Just my two cents.

      General consensus is
      1. It's terrible for desktop use if you use multiple windows
      2. At the same FPS, 1440p with lower settings looks better than 1080p max

      • +2

At the same FPS, 1440p with lower settings looks better than 1080p max

        Just incorrect.

        • Well the millions of people on console will disagree with you as currently the pro versions tend to run at 1800p with Med equivalent settings.

    • +2

      I agree with you too.
Absolutely no qualms about a 27" 1080p display as far as I'm concerned

    • +2

The vocal OzB community are a bunch of hardware elitists. They're a loud minority who forget that not everyone cares about 1440p+ resolutions.

      • i went from 1080p and 1440p to 4k …..if you are doing office work 4k kills 1440p, sold my 1440p monitor, if you are doing gaming, budget for graphics card and monitor might point you to 1080p …… especially if you want g-sync.

  • I thought it was a great deal.
Gsync for $400, never seen a deal for a new monitor with gsync for 400 or under.

I have a 4k 60hz gsync, that I'm looking to trade with a higher refresh rate or buy another.

  • In b4 "1080p blah blah".

Yes, 1440 is better than 1080.

No, almost nobody's rig can push 144 frames at 1440p in max settings in new games.

144hz 1080 is fine for competitive games, or if you just prefer frame rate to resolution as a matter of personal preference.

240hz 1080p can be had for this kind of price, though not with gsync (which I would turn off for competitive games anyway, and screen tearing at 180+ fps is pretty negligible in my experience.

Tldr you want to buy a 1080p screen and actually play at 144fps, or a 1440p screen and play at 90-100fps? It's a question. There is a debate, the product has a market.

    • max settings

Often maximum settings involves very inefficient processing for almost no increase in visual quality compared to high settings so it's silly to use them.

      • This is also true. But I want that last bit of benefit. Especially if it's textures. I can sometimes pass on aa, blur is always off of course.

  • "it's only 1080p"

    It's 240hz! This is a cracker price for a 240hz monitor.

    Have y'all seen many 240hz 1440p monitors?!

    • that is why the samsung has been on back order so long …..240hz 27”.

and stock will sell out again within a week or 2 as centrecom and other fill back, logged demand …..school holidays next week and kids will want gaming monitors …..these flew out the door at $450 on ebay ….now back order at $399 ….. people are buying as nobody is linking to a better 240hz monitor deal ……

  • 97% use 1080p resolution
No one cares if it's 1440p, shut the (profanity) up pls.

  • Do people realise there's a 27inch 240hz monitor for $350 ye? Ye no g sync but it isn't necessary at all

    • it isn't necessary

The only way I would recommend not having adaptive refresh is if you know you would always have locked FPS = Hz which is not many people.

      • AFAIK FreeSync will work on RTX and GTX 1600 cards.

      • Or your playing action games where the small frame delay associated with sync is more important than screen tearing, which is near unnoticeable at 180+.

        My thoughts anyway.

    • What monitor is that?

  • 240hz VA… Have fun with ghosting!

    • is ips better?

      • Both IPS and TN are better. I'd take IPS with a little ghosting over TN with none, but if you're using 240hz for competitive gaming I'm not sure IPS can deliver response times within the 4.2ms refresh window without ridiculous pixel overdrive.

        • i have seen this monitor at 240 with g-sync on $4000 gaming rig …..it looks sweet, can the critics link to another 27” 240hz monitor with g-sync for under $450 ……no.

  • +1

240hz VA, could such a disaster recipe be real?

    • wdym?

      • 240hz requires extremely fast response time.

        60hz = 16.6ms

        240hz = 4.1ms

VA does not have that technology due to it's dark shade transitions being over 15ms. Therefore it has smearing/ghosting.
