    • You would think they would know that when sending the offer.

eBay only sells garbage and their membership is also garbage. Not to mention the spam and the pain in the arse process to unsubscribe. Very sketchy.
And all the cheap stuff they have is just garbage that won’t last more than a few weeks if you’re lucky. That is not a bargain - it’s a ripoff.

I have got heaps of good stuff on eBay, food from Coles, Samsonite suitcase, Olympus camera ($900), down quilt ($500), a mattress etc etc. All of these I still use years later, except the food, and are all good quality products and great deals at the time.

    • +3

Just to be clear, you do understand eBay sells its service only. The cheap crap you mention has nothing to do with eBay in any way apart from being listed on their platform.

    • I just joined today and cancelled membership very easily, took a minute if that. Got email evidence if they try any funny business in 12 months.

I only got it because it was free though (already used the voucher), I much prefer my Amazon Prime

  • +10

eBay is getting so desperate with this. I see ads about eBay Plus everywhere, and they even started sending me unsolicited text messages. Pretty annoying.

  • This just reminded me to cancel my current membership from the last $1 promo.
I clicked through the cancellation stages and at step 3 it offered me a $30 voucher to stay. Thought this might be useful for others in the same situation.

  • +2

Not worth even if it's free.

Google might as well charge $49/yr for beta features but gives you a $50 coupon to sign up. It's so pointless

  • Do they give a $50 voucher code or giftcard?

    • Voucher code

    • voucher - cannot stack with other coupons, i.e. 20% off

      • Ah really. Looking at TV with 20% off was hoping could stack.

    • +4

Voucher valid for 30 days & on Plus items only.

  • +6

imagine having to market "premium customer service" as one of the selling points for eBay plus. Amazon provides the same, great customer service for any of its customers - both prime and non-prime.

  • +8

This would be great, if ever I was f#€ken targeted.

    • +1

Pretty much. Paid for 12 months and cancelled but never get targeted offers.

    • +1

      The $50 voucher is only good if you can comply with the conditions;

Voucher valid for 30 days & on Plus items only

  • Does anyone have a sign up link? I only get an option to sign up with a 30 day free trial. I suspect this an actual purchase page to apply the coupon code.

    • Same

  • Got it :)

ebay plus deals are as shonky as hell

  • +1

So I got the email for the $50 voucher but when I go through it says i am ineligible for the trial as I have done it previously and there is nowhere to put the promo code.

Has anyone had a similar experience? If I sign up, pay the $49 will I get the voucher?

    • Same as me but I'm not signing up because I'm sure I won't get a voucher due to being "ineligible".

    • Mine is even better. I click on to try Ebay Plus and then it tells me I'm not authorised to join Ebay Plus. What the?

    • I did it through the email and had no problems

      • What do you mean? You had no problems putting the code in? Or it didn’t mention that you weren’t eligible for the trial?

    • Is this the email where it says a 50 voucher could be yours and shows a whole bunch of specials or a different email

      • Yep

    • +1

Update: if anyone got the email you are eligible for the promotion. I signed up and got the voucher instantly

Voucher valid for 30 days & on Plus items only. Offer & eBay Plus T&Cs apply

yuck. 30 days is a tight window when the deals on ebay plus seem to be few and far between

    • +2

Im just going to buy something I need for 50$ and call it a day.

Couple of stuff I have been putting off buying.

  • Do you have to use it in one go?

    • As far as I know, you can use it on parts as well.
Best to look throught T&C of the voucher you got

      • Doesn't look yyou can use it on parts sorry Fantoo
On the T&C' s RE Use of $50 Voucher- (please disregard the crazy bold … not sure how that happened.

What do I need to do to receive offers like this from eBay? I've never ever received any email from them that's not related to a purchase or a terms & conditions update.

  • Only on ozbargain would someone neg a free deal

  • I don't trust ebay anymore after I tried to cancel Ebay Plus and got stung with the $50 fee. Its a known issue that ebay sometimes doesn't process the cancellation until you cancel the second time. I unfortunately didn't know this and now its been 3 weeks and they still haven't gotten back to me on my request for a refund after saying they would get back to me after 2-3 days. They had to escalate it because I used the trial to purchase something once, which means I obviously misunderstood how a free trial works as I thought you're generally meant to use the service to try it out free of charge. Going to have to paypal dispute now, which is a 50/50 on whether I get my money back.

  • Pretty sure i just won the competition…..

went to cancel membership and resign, offered $30 to remain a member…. yoink

I cant believe some of the hate on this…

    1. Find something your already going to buy over $50

    2. Sign up and get voucher.

    3. Buy item with voucher

    4. Cancel plus membership

    5. You saved $1 and have free ebay plus for a year where it may be benificial to you..

I paid $1 for my ebay plus. So its a better deal than me

  • +1

There is one trap if you're unlucky.
I joined under this offer last year and then used my voucher on a computer part. The part never got sent out to me so i applied for a refund. Ebay refunded me the "cash" part of my payment but would not re-instate my voucher so that i could use it on another purchase which meant that I effectively did not get free membership. I even wrote back to argue my case as it was not my fault but Ebay wouldn't come to the party. I was pretty pissed-off about it at the time. The "benefits" did not justify a $50 annual fee as far as i was concerned. Compared to the benefits of the Amazon membership it is piss weak.

    • That is bad.

  • Can i pay via ebay gift card to get the memebership ?

  • Hi all, I got this Ebay Plus promo sent to me earlier this week and want to use it. I already have an Ebay Plus account on that particular ebay account- am presuming I am eligible because they sent the offer linked to that account. Question - if the promo works on my account will I lose the remaining month of membership for Plus that I have already which currently ends 30 July 20 or will 12 months be added from 30 July?

    • Did you go through the link and sign in and check?
If you have the offer, it shows on the banner just next to the sign up button

      • Hi Fantoo, thanks got it sorted now. Realised offer was for my other Ebay account which has never had Plus. Successfully signed up.

        • Did you have a purchase history on that account? I have the same circumstances as you. eBay Plus on one account and this offer on the second but with no purchase history, which they say is required. I am interested in taking up the offer.

  • Would I also receive the $5/month ebay plus voucher?

    • Yes you would but min spend is $50 for that and you cannot stack with other voucher code

      • lol stuff that then. Thanks for the heads up :)

  • I think they give 5.00 per month for 12 months

    • yes but comes with min spend $50

  • Hi all, not sure if anyone else had an issue, but I was stung with an international fee on the Qantas credit card (paying via paypal) for the ebayplus membership. I phoned up Qantas and they informed me that eBay Marketplaces GmbH is considered interational. They refunded the money as a once off, but just be aware when paying for your membership that the credit card provider may consider in international.

For anyone interested, the link for the deal is this : https://tc.ebay.com.au/ebayplus-50coupon-stp

I have just subscribed, got the voucher instantly, spent it and canceled the subscription, which will last for 12 months. Win win!

  • How can we verify that we are targeted for this? I can see the page but not sure if I'll get the voucher once I pay for the membershpip XD

    • I tried to do this and in the first step was I was not eligible due to lack of purchase history. I do not understand why they just cannot send the offer to people who qualify.

  • Well damn, they only gave me a $30 voucher when I threatened to cancel.

  • You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately

    😐To me

    • Yes, but do you still get the $50 voucher?
