[SA] 50mm Excell Master Lock Padlock 4-Pack - $39 (Was $113) In-Store @ Stratco (Gepps Cross)

110

I was planning to buy a padlock online but drove by Stratco and bought in-store instead. The tag had $113 crossed out to $79. I thought it was an alright deal, but when I went to pay, the cashier said it was $39! This is approximately 65% off.

They had a 45mm 4-pack that was $92.99 crossed out to $69, but I’m not sure if there are any further reductions for that one.

There were about 10 or so left at the Gepps Cross Stratco. They placed the locks on two racks (have the exact name and code number on the tag); one had the original tag of $113 and the other was crossed out to $79. I can’t find the 4-pack online for Stratco, so it might be a clearance and at selected stores.

Stratco has the single padlock for $47.99: https://www.stratco.com.au/au/building-hardware/doors-door-f…

Bunnings has the 4-pack for $112: https://www.bunnings.com.au/master-lock-50mm-excell-padlock-…

Summary description from Bunnings:

  • anyone know if this will fit in a trailer lock like this?
    https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/morphett-vale/trailers/trail…

    • I don’t have access to my trailer at the moment (it has one of those hitch locks) but I think you may need to get ones with a longer shackle.

    • Not sure, but if it helps, I can give you the dimensions for it tomorrow.

Edit: I had a search online. The shackle height is 25mm and the shackle diameter is 9mm.

  • I wonder if Bunnings would PM this?

    • I wonder too. I don’t know if they would price beat off a photo though? Like I mentioned, I couldn’t find the online Stratco link for the 4-pack. However, if you try, do let me know!

      • Will do!!

        • Will price beat of the photo as the photo has the same barcode on the item as bunnings

    • they need to be able to find the price on the internet from the store, not pics , etc, probably becasue people use to make them up and try and get price matches.

If lockpicking lawyer has taught me anything it's that Master locks are junk!

      ^ This. They're basically garbage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5jzHw3lXCQ

      • man scary stuff

      • Cheers for the share!! 🙏

      • Oh my, 8 locks in 3 minutes…

    • Yep, I only checked out this deal/post because of how many master locks the lockpicking lawyer has decimated!

    • Had a look at his YouTube thanks to robberbutton and the LockPickingLawyer’s ‘About’ page says he doesn’t recommend locks. Do you perhaps have any lock brand recommendations?

        What's your goal?
A lock won't stop a determined thief - bolt cutters, angle grinder etc.
So if someone really wants whatever your lock is protecting, they'll get to it regardless.

        • Good point. You can’t be 100% sure that it’ll protect whatever you’re locking, but it does somewhat give you a sense of security.
