Probably not a bad deal, but I just can't stomach the thought of paying $98 a month to a Murdoch company. 🤮

        Kek

LOL…..Next you'll be telling me Fox News is "Fair and Balanced"!

He will if he's a Trump supporter.

          • @ksama0079: if he's a trump supporter who would care what they said or thought - rather stare at a wall for a few years than pay turdoch

            • +3

@petry: Who paid for the wall? Not Mexico!

@strangeloops66: the un-constitutional one as ruled by the courts?

built by blowing up ancient graveyards and the destruction of the environment in a area where they cannot be replaced ever…

You're just as brainwashed as anyone else because you consume Fox News.

You escape brainwashing by ceasing to expose yourself to mainstream media not exchanging brainwashing sources.

      • Nice one, edgelord.

        • November's result will be a glorious repeat of 2016.

This deal isn't bad I would say. Foxtel do really need to improve the model though.

      • +1

        so woke.

      • I don't think I've ever seen a more ironic comment.

    • +1

Yeah. Would feel pretty wrong to choose a company that supported the current state of the NBN for access to the NBN.

  • I need something like this that has the IQ box bundled in as I need the FTA added in (bad antenna at the location).
Actually it looks like the IQ4 is included. So I assume the FTA channels are on there as well.
I will call them to see if the FTA will be on there for premises on FTTN.

    • Our IQ has FTA but it is through the antenna - so you need to check on that. If you have Foxtel via satellite I think you need the local antenna to get FTA.

A family member has Foxtel cable and FTA comes via the cable.

  • +6

100mbps on $100 a month would be real bargain imo.

    • I couldnt see where to upgrade the speed with them, maybe they only do 50/20?

    • +1

If it works the same way as Telstra, which is quite possible, you'll only get the 100 plan if you're on either HFC or FttP, regardless of how fast your link is.

      • Yes this is what happens with them. Also, (apparently they check the brand/ age of your TV and whether you have 4k and) how you get your Foxtel (over satellite or something called Opticom or other means) determines whether you get a 4k IQ4 or the IQ3.
Opticom distributes the satellite to properties via coax, and with that you don't get the HD FTA channels, and also can only use the IQ3 for these properties.

    • Same as Telstra $20 extra, its in the T&C

Was vaguely interested until I saw what channels are offered on the Foxtel Plus package….lame.

I just tried calling the number and encountered their voice menu.
    Groan.
I am having flashbacks as to why I left them years ago.
Now its all coming back to me.
They provide one of the worst and most frustrating telephone experiences, even before you get to speak with a human.
    Groan.
cues "We've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenters

    • human? morally empty meatbag would be closer

      • I havent even got to them yet. The robot IVR is particularly dispiriting.

        • +1

ring up your pollie and chat about robodebt to cheer yourself up..

          • +1

@petry: Its okay. I am off the phone, and yes It got worse as we progressed.
I asked about getting the speed upgrade to 100/20 on FTTN, to be condescendingly told that of course FTTN does not support that speed so it is not offered on those connections.
looks out window to the FTTN node at the kerb
I hate to say it, but sometimes the bargain is not worth it.

  • +10

    Pay for ads LMAO please.

  • is phone included?

    • -1

no, I wanted to know too, it was like $40 or $50 extra, f-that

  • +2

For anyone that is already a subscribed I just managed to renew my $39 HD Sport package to $29 per month for 3 months. Seems like they are bleeding customers.

    • Kayo is $25…. And given the situation now, why would you?

Unless your internet is extremely bad…

      • +4

I’d happily pay $4 extra to have the ability to channel surf without having to buffer channels - even with FTTP. That and the ability to record free to air tv and all of the other included channels. Don’t get me wrong, Kayo is great but I still prefer a Foxtel box for sport!

  • +3

Just an update - Foxtel say I would have to change my equipment and use their router, I cannot churn over like I have with every other NBN connection, as they need their "monitoring equipment to be operating".

As if there wasn't enough to dissuade me already. LOL.

Actually looking back, sending the box back to Foxtel was particularly satisfying, after declining their 3-6 month "please don't go" offers.

Perhaps taking this deal up would give me the same experience in 12 months time, making this deal almost worth it after all.

    Almost.

  • I have Foxtel IQ4 satellite and don't seem to be able to get FTA HD channels. Is that normal? I really hate watching FTA in SD on a 65" screen!!

    • See "How do I access free-to-air TV through Foxtel" https://www.foxtel.com.au/support/tv/troubleshooting/interac…

Basically, Free to Air HD is only available via your terrestrial TV aerial which is plugged into your IQ4. You can only record one of these HD channels at a time.

You can watch and record more than one Standard Definition Free to Air TV off the satellite.

Foxtel Plus, seriously wtf is that shiz? Just FTS news channels and the only decent one being RT.
