  I find the whole USB-C thing a lesson in futility.

  There are Data Cables, there are charging cables.
  There are cables that charge at a few W, at 30W, 60W and 100W.
  There are cables that do both Data and Charging.
  There are cables with 480Mbps data speed and cables with 10Gbps speed.

  There is no external marking on these cables to explain all this. I grabbed a USB-C to USB-C cable the other day to download my phone to my PC. Wouldn't do both Data and Charging. So I had to go out buy another one. Made sure I bought a cable that does the lot so in future I don't have to 2nd guess what cable to use.

  Is it too much to ask to have one cable that works "universally"?

    They have standardized everything to USB-C, so that it works, til it doesn't, which is all the time.

    I agree the USB-C standards are too loose, but you could say everything you've said about A/B as well.
    This is more about the version - things should get better with USB 4 but it's going to take a while.

  I bought 3 of these cables for a Pixel 4XL and only one with a right angle USB end worked, the other two didn't. Banggood wanted a video showing they aren't working which was a bit hard using the phone it wasn't working on. Couldn't be bothered borrowing a friend's phone for the $6 or whatever it was for the cables. Lesson learned.

  After 3 of my products were shipped but not received due to courier incompetence, I contacted Fastway Couriers who advised the items were “lost in transit” after being marked delivered.

  Banggood advised they will investigate and get back to me in 2-3 days.

  This was the 20th May. I now emailed again and received the same response to “check with neighbours” and wait 2-3 days.

  Definitely do NOT recommend Banggood.

    So? A "micro-USB cable" will have a full size USB-A at the other end. Same with a "Lightning cable". If it is USB-C at both ends it will be described as "USB-C to USB-C".
