ah yeah, the old covid '$$ka-ching$$'.

edit: If youre truly an old folks home as indicated below, then I withdraw my cynical remark. Good luck to you.

    • Don't feel too bad. Aged care homes need this sort of stuff anyway - even without a pandemic. Must have purchased truck loads to want to get rid of them when they usually have very long use-by dates (2-4+ years) and are an in demand item in that industry. We are not talking about stuff that will expire anytime soon.

Helpful to use the aged care business to legitimise this side business I guess.

      • Not sure on length difference, but I thought most pre covid sanitisers used Isoprop alc which has a longer shelf life than ethanol.

I would have been predicting 3 years of covid as I didnt expect a conservative government to offer payments to facilitate staying home, and then apply restrictions to liberties as readily as they did. Stocks could have taken years to normalise so who knows how long it would have been hard to get santiser etc.

Supposedly we had vast stocks of loo paper in warehouses, but still months on, supply isnt normal its better but not normal.

I also wonder if there was a price point for a truck load as opposed to 1 pallet.

Even if wrong, Im happy for an old folks home to ka ching a little, depending what they were charging 6 weeks ago…

    • As I stated in my introductory post, and as per my About page, we are an aged care operator and just ordered a whole stack because I figured there could be a shortage of these items if COVID blew up.

I am not looking to KA-CHING. My prices are very low, I am just trying to make these types of good accessible to community. Postage in particular for hand sanitiser is ridiculous as it is a dangerous flammable good.

Didn't expect to get so much shade tbh.

      • You must be naive then. So many people came here looking to make big money off sanitiser, there were some looking to offer pre orders so they didnt get stuck with stock (many week lead time) on over priced ethanol, and then when the numbers of infected died down, and stock was everywhere, they were trying hard to offload it litres at a time. People grew tired very quickly, and very few santiser posts were normal.

Much like the bloke that tried to return 10k in toilet paper and santiser to stores only to be told, nope. This afte rhte usual sources of sale took down his ads for ka-ching priced goods. The nation lol'ed.

And I was not about to read your about page.

  • See ya.

  • Do you sell Chernobyl style gas masks?

You won't find a cheaper price anywhere.

Wrong. Kogan sells a 24 pack of hand sanitizer with 75% alcohol (same as yours) for $69.99 or if you want to buy in singles, $2.99. Shipping for the 24 pack is coming up for me at $7.99 making it ~$78, making it $30 cheaper than your "deal".

      • +2

        What a bargain

      • -1

        buy cheaper pump from china

      • you're paying $30 for 24 pump tops, wholesale?!

Sir, you are getting GOUGED. You need to shop around.

    • No bargain, cheaper elsewhere as per above.

    lol

  • Missed the price gouging
    No ingredients
    No tga
    Made in some unknown factory
    No thanks

    • Wow, this guy actually complains in every hand sanitizer posts!

TGA is optional but not required in Aus.
Ingredients: Ingredients: Ethanol, Acrylic Acid Polymers, Nitrilotriethanol, Water

  • What’s a guy to do when you can’t sell this stuff on Amazon or eBay or Gumtree. Trading Post?

    • How much for Jousting Sticks?
      Tell him he's dreaming.

    • +2

Man I get some good deals on trading post.

      I love that thing.

  • We can just buy this all day every day at Kmart or Bunnos $10-11 a litre
    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/medipure-instant-hand-sanit…
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/cleaner-hand-scotts-950ml-saniti…
With the heart-warming knowledge that you are not supporting a profiteer who would be reaming us if Covid was still going full on

    • I don't think this guy is a deal, but you've posted this before.

I went in store and couldnt find any at 75% ethanol.

      Can you link the proof?

When I checked in store it listed aqua as the highest ingredient, and had about 6 others also.
I cant mathematically see how it could be 75% ethanol, yet have aqua as the highest ingredient.

      • Maybe you were replying to another comment?
Anyway this is the one I get https://www.mitre10.com.au/swisscare-hand-sanitiser-premium-…
It's 75%, reasonable brand and doesnt smell too bad

        • The one by King Tightarse.

He claimed we could buy it at bunnings or Kmart, but the msds at bunnings says its only 50%.

And the Kmart one suggests less.

I just was hoping for the correct link to buy 75% all day every day for around the $10 per L

Cheapest I can find is kogan.

          • @MasterScythe: What are you on about huh?
I didn't say anything about 75%, just regular commonly used hand sanitiser and I linked Kmart and Bunnings where it is available. Really just to illustrate the price point
You want 75%? I linked that too but $16.95/pl. Look above

            • +2

@King Tightarse: But, thats MORE expensive than the current posted deal.

I thought you posted the Kmart and bunnings as a like for like alternative.

At sub50% theyre selling a potentially ineffective product.

Curious, What was the reason for neg?
Your solution looks more expensive per bottle.

              Correct me if im wrong.

              • @MasterScythe: The reason for the neg was cheaper elsewhere as others have also shown.
I linked that to show you as it's what I use because its cheap enough and readily available

                • @King Tightarse: Ah, ok.
On OzBargain, the comment you leave, that allows the neg, is supposed to be the reason for the neg (otherwise the mod will remove the neg, if someone reports).

I saw your join date and assumed youd have had that explained before, which was why I was confused.

Your "neg post" only mentioned an inferior product. Then later mentioned a more expensive product.

At least we've finally cleared it up.

            • +1

@King Tightarse: Sorry bro, but if its not 75% (or close too), then its not this as per your original post. The deal is for 75%.

              • @Tuba: 'Allegedly 75%' as it is an unknown manufacturer but fair enough.

                • @King Tightarse: At least its super easy to check.

For anyone without a kids grade chemistry set, you could confirm its better than bunnings or Kmart, based on if it burns.

If it does, you know it already beats 50%.

Suburb specific lockdown? Beauty, I'm back in business baby.

  • +1

can get 1 ltr bottle at kmart for $10, not as cheap but don't need to buy in bulk.

    • Link please? I went in store and could only find 50%.

If they have 75% its not showing up in a search.

Cheapest i can find is kogan

  • +1

You created a website called covidgear just to sell the 'excess' stuff you got for your staff… hahahahahahaha yeah right.

    • +2

They are an aged care provider so the part about them needing it for staff/community checks out.

      https://www.superiorcare.com.au/

    • +1

Why not? Its a dot AU.
If their abn suits the product, the first year is probably only $20 or so.

Even for the average Joe, simple marketing study is fun.

No need to laugh, they did it on purpose, and so people who are wanting these products because of covid find them more easily.

Its a good and cheap business move IMO.

      • Of course they did it on purpose - stocking up on supplies to make a profit. They are not even selling it cheap even though they reckon you wont find it cheaper anywhere… read the comments, but looks like you respect that sort of business model. Simple ethics study is fun too.

        • +1

Stocking up on supplies to make profit is pretty much the ONLY successful business model, unless you sell services.

Nothing to do with ethics, what you describe is called retail.

          • @MasterScythe: Interesting analysis. Its one thing to profit, but when the MARKET notices the price rising because they are a captive market, they have a right to call it what it is, and the business and people involved virtually tarred and feathered so to speak, bankrupt even. Same goes when 'deals' are offered for a lifetime supply of santiser because, the bubble burst. General opinion and reputation are part of the market force.

Everything to do with ethics. The market does not exist in a bubble.

            • @Tuba: True, but while its not the cheapest, this isnt any higher than an expensive chemist, like priceline, or health food shop.

This isnt what id call an unethical sale by any means.

              • @MasterScythe: What was it during covid? Now the bubble has burst.. the price isnt the key indicator, the lifetime supply is. Im still working through my initial 250ml I made from Iso alc and aloe.

                • +1

                  @Tuba: Covid is still happening.
                  Finding 75% is still trickly.
And this is the users first post.

I work IT, so I touch other peoples keyboards.

Id use 250ml a day, on a busy day

They want to see you use it, then I want to use it once im done.

                  Everyones needs are different.

                  Ive gone through about 9L

                  • @MasterScythe: Finding 70% (which is enough for home use) is easy. My local semi rural Woolies has shelves of it, in more than a single brand. Victoria is the exception, not the rule.

If you use 250ml a day, youre doing it wrong. Youre the reason you think its scarce. Maybe consider self isolating like the sensible parts of the country did.

You dont happen to have had a hand in this listing here, or the domain name?

                    • @Tuba: Nope.

I have about 100 customers a day, and they all want to see you use it before touching their laptop.

                      It goes down quickly.

  • +1

    omg the name

    • I agree, someone give their marketing team a raise.

Probably gonna be the most profitable $20 they have ever invested.

  • +1

made too many bottles but cannot get rid of them in time aye?

    • -1

Curious, im not supporting this as a deal at all, but "in time" for what?

Its already a new financial year, and this product doesn't readily spoil.

Looking at Victoria, at least moderate level demand is still around.

Im just genuinely curious what time frame you are seeing?

      • Probably the time it took the usual brands to be back in stock pretty much everywhere… not necessarily the end of covid.

  • +1

…dreams of Covid pandemic wealth evaporating like santizer in the sun

can you give 24 for me and others as well for free ? remember you will get good karma if you do that.

So I reported this and nothing was done about it. Pretty infuriating.

    • Reported on what basis?

      • Lol, mate. You don’t even want to go there.
