No longer will you wait for Godot.

      • No longer will you wait for Godot.

The situation is exactly opposite to the one with Godot.

        Sorry to spill your milk.

  • The Apple education store gives it for that much, and you can haggle the price to $3400 easily at most retail stores.

Haggle prices for Apple, where? Can't say i've ever heard that working. Usually the 10% off deals that show up on retailers are actually cheaper than education prices anyway from my last 2 MBP purchases.

      • Last time I bought a MacBook an Apple store was happy to price match, but doubt you’d get better than that.

  • Does Costco sell the 13 inch 2020 (ie. with the non-munted keyboard) models too?

    • +1

Yeah they do, they sell the MWP72X/A for $2689~. Good guys have them for $2699.

I think they realized the Butterfly keyboards are too munted to work in any aspect and converted back to the Magic keyboards.

      • Thanks

  • "SSD- Superfast"

Surprised no-one has mentioned the move to ARM means that, based on how Apple have managed transitions like this in the past, Intel based macs are expected to have a comparatively short support life span - maybe 5 years. (https://www.pcworld.com/article/3563892/why-apples-move-from…)

10% is a decent discount for Apple, and I need a new laptop soon, but might hang out to the end of the year. If the potential 5 year life isn't an issue for you, there might be better deals soon….

Thanks for mentioning. I'm looking to update from a 2011 MBP and expect another 8-10yrs use from the replacement so best I hang out too I think.

      • But then 1st gen Apple products arent great to get either, especially with such a big change…

      • I wouldn't worry about that.
It’s going to take 2 years for Apple to transition their product lines to ARM, which means they will still he releasing new intel products.
Plus at least 7 years of software support for MacOS (big sur is supporting 2013 MacBook Air’s).
I think 8 years is totally reasonable lifespan but at year 5 you’ll probably start to get some software makers that are updating to “arm only”.
Also - if you’re thinking about Bootcamp, this is the Mac for you.

  • I was so hesitant to go from the 13 to MBP16 because of portability, but after a few weeks, it really hasn’t bothered me.

The speed boost is massive compared to the MBP13. The 13” should be ashamed to be called “pro” - compared to the MB air, I felt there was little speed difference.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the switch to ARM. Apple Big Sur is going to support MacBook Air’s from 2013 and shows Apple’s commitment to their older product lines (In some ways Apple does prove their value). Lifespan would be at least 5 years.

Plus the move to ARM is going to suck. A lot of indie developers will take ages to port their software and virtualisation will cause software slowdowns. I don’t mind waiting until they kink out all the bugs.
